Well, what if neither of you are armed with a gun? Or the gun is out of ammo? Or has malfunctioned or jammed? Then it reverts to who has trained the most diligently with their other weapons and bare hands. Thinking a gun is going to get you out of every situation is highly naïve. By all means, train with a gun. It gives you a significant advantage when you have one that is working. But also train for when you DON"T have one.
