*Stanley Gibbons Stand at Thailand 2023 WSC Exhibition - *[Episode 15]*.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. George James, Head of Commonwealth from Stanley Gibbons at the Thailand 2023 WSC Exhibition. He was kind enough to share 3 wonderful items (Malaya Straits & Siam Cover) from their stock. I have provided the links below.

The Stanley Gibbons station was quite impressive. No bargain bins, though. 😀 The replica and keyring etc. of the 1c magenta were interesting to see. George James showed some interesting stamps and covers. I didn't know that Malaysia was regarded to be part of India at some stage and used Indian stamps. The cover from Siam (Thailand) to Norway was very interesting. Thank you very much for the interesting documentation and video, JC.

Yes Charnie, I was quite impressed with the collections they had in their stand. George showed me some excellent stamps during the exhibition and these 3 are exceptional.⭐British India stamps were used in Malaya from 1854 when the Malay colonies were first provided with postal services by the post offices of British India. The stamps were used in the Bengal Circle from 1854 to 1861, and in the Burma Circle from 1861 to 1867. The cover from Siam to Norway is a rare find. Thank you so much for watching!!😊

Wow Joe, your knowledge is just excellent! I want to ask you something: I understood when the princely states issued stamps, they still used British India stamps for "external" mail. Does it mean not all of British India was divided into states? Very best wishes to you!!!!! @@JCPhilately

@@GreatStampAdventure There were about 565 princely states at the time of Independence, these states were also known as Native States, Feudatory States, or Indian States. Out of these 565, 37 Feudatory States issued their stamps & 6 Convention States (Chamba, Gwalior, Jind, Nabha, Patiala, and Faridkot) agreed with the Imperial Government to issue British India Stamps overprinted respectively. These convention-state stamps were valid for postage within the state, to other convention states, and to destinations in British India whereas feudal-state stamps were only valid for use within their respective state. (please check this video: ua-cam.com/video/vLfJthFMlkI/v-deo.html). Thank you Charnie!😊
