HOWEVER, this is faithful to the original recording. Dave famously didn't use a click track when recording Nevermind so the minor fluctuations in tempo are genuine. tl;dr: blame Dave (and/or Butch).

Better yet, try to start it at the same time with the actual song ua-cam.com/video/JirXTmnItd4/v-deo.html and you'll see that they sync perfectly. It just sounds slower because there are no drums.
@@narudude1994 I tried. This song does not sync with a metronome at 116bpm. The guitar intro is waaay out of tempo. Things get a little better if you sync with the first drum hit around 0:12, but by 01:08 the song is half a beat ahead of the metronome. By the second verse the song is a whole beat ahead. But the song isn't consistently faster. By the beginning of the last chorus, the song is only half a beat fast again. I'm glad I checked the comments when I did. I thought I usually did a better job of keeping time than that...turns out my time was fine.
