    There's a lot more to basketball then being able to posterize high schoolers half your size...

      Dwight can dunk but is also recognized for his defense and rebounding

      You must not have paid attention to the defensive plays in the video. Or the box scores of game where he would post 20+ points and 20+ rebounds. Along with being named the HS POY... Good thing he's known for more than just posterizing high school kids half his size!!

    I went to DC tonight to see him play against Georgetown. He looks slimmer then in high school. Very raw, but tons of talent! I wish him well!

    This season he is averaging nearly 30 pts, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks a game in CHICAGO people, really good competition. He is the best rebounder in the nation, best finisher around the rim, and has a great motor. He should be the national player of the year so far. He has had games of 30pts, 24rb, 15blks, and 37pts, 26rbs this year. He has solid form on his jumper and will develop a nice mid range game, plus he will only develop more at Kansas, who have a long history of improving big men. Bright future considering he has only been playing ball for about 4 years.

    For him to go into the NBA he is definitely going to need a post game. There are too many people who are his height and build; he wont be able to just dunk on competition when they all get 6 inches taller in college and the NBA. He needs to get handles and a decent jumper.

    understand that recruiting goes hand in hand with not just landing a solid 5star player but also having a great coach, team and system to implement your Game plan. But it is not always because a coach is better than his counterpart. It is the players, that play the game and know what to do in the moments in closing seconds and becoming a well rounded individual on campus. The majority of people think just because a player is talented.

    This kid is so athletic. After a couple of years in the KU development system, I could see him going number one in th NBA draft.

  • @sheldons7
    @sheldons7 10 років тому +4

    He got the hops. And he has the hot head to make prolific plays. But he seems a bit temperamental. If he gets the right coaching, keeps a cool head and develops some handles and a mid-range he has got a decent shot.
    The league is changing every year with these quick, strong big men that can shoot and these bigger power guards coming through

      @lv00859 10 років тому

      6'9" -- btw I'm from da Chi but I live in the ATL and had the chance to watch Dwight and Josh Smith in H.S. Dwight and Josh both have better bounce but Cliff definitely is definitely more ferocious then they were. He is 100% beast

    • @EconAtheist
      @EconAtheist 10 років тому

      Wingspan is a better measurement than height, in general, because differentials in neck length and head shape can account for a few inches of height in either direction -- the 'same body' can make for nearly a 4" differential in height, given the variety of neck/head combos.
      Wingspan, OTOH, don't lie.

    it does not guarantee you success in the NBA. No matter where Cliff goes; I believe he will work hard, his coach will have him in a situation where he develops and succeeds/impacts the game in more ways than one. Cliff is a POWERFORWARD, AT ILLINOIS --THIS WILL BE A PART OF GROCE PLAN TO HAVE A FORWARD THAT can explode to the hoop, shoot the short jumper- and dribble dives all over the point of attack- because we will also have a CENTER IN EITHER EGWU...WHO CAN PASS OUT OF THE POST AND SHOOT

    for some STRANGE REASON, I still have hope he comes to Illinois. I am frustrated and surprised the coach of (Curie would allow PLAYERS) DURING THE SEASON, TO run from being A STUDENT AND act everything else was above and beyond HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STANDARDS TO play ball being eligible....FIRST AND FOREMOST we need players WHO are willing to learn ( what is asked of them to do and achieve if they wont to play the game.

    In 2007, with calipari playing with Dorsey, Rose. Anderson and a few diamonds of talent falls by not getting his players to foul with a lead. In the closing seconds; this led to M. Chalmers hitting a three to tie the score and go into overtime. But also remember that Derrick Rose playing well he didn't have one of his greatest NCAA TOURNMENT GAMES TO EVEN BE considered MVP if HE DID WIN..HE WAS 1-6 FROM THREE. AND TURNED THE BALL OVER 5TIMES.

For that tournament; during another up and coming juggernaut in the COLLEGE BASKETBALL WORLD. Ohio State with and GROCE RECRUITING BIGTIME- GETTING CONLEY, DEIBLER, ODEN AND D. LIGHTY, which led to OHIO STATE HAVING A GREAT RUN.

    I saw him dribble maybe twice...of course that's the nature of a highlight video. I feel like balancing the video out more, with maybe a 70/30 ratio of highlight dunks and blocks to whatever post moves he may have and maybe one dribble shots, wouldn't hurt viewership.

    Illinois ends up in the championship game under Bruce almost winning a record 38 games in the season.. Kansas still relatively soft for pressing the ball and up tempo, lost to Bucknell University in the 1st round in 2005. Do you think the next year a lot was going to change though; self brought in another solid class. J.R.Giddens and others- Kansas flat out plays lethargic defense and allows (Bradley center to dominate inside. and Kansas misses a few one on one situations to loose again 77-73

    That makes sense. He's gonna be a hell of a college player then, but I'm sure if Okafor wants to really dominate in the Pros he's got to lose some more weight. Nothing wrong with being big, but the League is so much faster. Roy Hibbert had to do the same.

The thing is,its unfair to judge how cliff alexander's career will pan out i mean we dont know.. and we wont until he is put in such circumstances and he has a lot of time to develop but for know youre right the only thing he boasts is potential and upside

    • @banglek
      @banglek 11 років тому +3

      You obviously have no athletic talent or understand how it works.. even at 6'8' it takes a pretty good athlete to dunk like he is.

    • @russelllane8318
      @russelllane8318 11 років тому +6

      To dunk like he is, maybe. But come on. With that wing-span he barely needs to jump! And I'm not saying it's not impressive or he won't be good. Not really saying anything about him. It's the people who produce these mix tapes and the type of people who want to watch them. Dunk, dunk, block, dunk. Footwork? Dexterity? Touch? Defensive feel? These are what get players to the next level. If you want to watch impressive dunks all day just go to And1's channel or something.

    • @russelllane8318
      @russelllane8318 11 років тому

      Kurt Bangle BTW, I'm a huge KU fan so, believe me, I'll be going nuts every time this kid throws it down. But I'd be happier if he went double-double every night and shot over 60% from the line and stayed out of foul trouble. Dunks don't win games.

    Because Jahlil Okafor is bigger, stronger, and has way better post game that includes hooks, spins, face-ups, some fadeaways. Cliff Alexander is way way faster and athletic and goes after the ball (block-wise) he is raw offensively and will have to get better. But, the reason Okafor is better because he still grabs a lot of rebounds and plays good defense, but he is a way more dominant player and can carry a team in the post I'm not sure if Alexander would be able to do that until he develops

      Maybe its been stated 1000 times because these high school tapes are of players dunking and blocking shots. Two things that should be given attributes of any big man. What else can he do? Didn't see him dribble once. Didn't see him shoot a jumper once. Didnt see him do anything but dunk and block shots. HE can leave early, because of his NBA-draft ranking; which is conducted by a lot of basketball analysts that do not even coach a game. IS a given just because a player goes to a certain program and avg's 15 pts and wins a decent amount of games his first year that he is going to be a no.1 draft pick....I THINK THIS IS A BAD MISTAKE BY TEAMS IN THE NBA TO DRAFT BECAUSE OF POTENTIAL...how many upperclassmen because of staying in college has benefitted largely because of working on fundamentals

    I need to see him play against other man-children. Right now he's just the biggest on the court.

    Why would he wanna go to Illinois? Bill Self isn't there anymore and they haven't been good since his players left.. Illinois is a good school though. I've seen a few places that its between Kansas and Mich. St but then again who really knows
