You must not have paid attention to the defensive plays in the video. Or the box scores of game where he would post 20+ points and 20+ rebounds. Along with being named the HS POY... Good thing he's known for more than just posterizing high school kids half his size!!
i am a point guard who will prob never be able to dunk but you know damn well im not bashing him fir his play-style cause if i could dunk like that thats all i would do to
I honestly came into this vid thinking that I wasn't going to be that impressed, but I can definitely see the similarities to Dwight Howard. pretty solid.
This season he is averaging nearly 30 pts, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks a game in CHICAGO people, really good competition. He is the best rebounder in the nation, best finisher around the rim, and has a great motor. He should be the national player of the year so far. He has had games of 30pts, 24rb, 15blks, and 37pts, 26rbs this year. He has solid form on his jumper and will develop a nice mid range game, plus he will only develop more at Kansas, who have a long history of improving big men. Bright future considering he has only been playing ball for about 4 years.
For him to go into the NBA he is definitely going to need a post game. There are too many people who are his height and build; he wont be able to just dunk on competition when they all get 6 inches taller in college and the NBA. He needs to get handles and a decent jumper.
understand that recruiting goes hand in hand with not just landing a solid 5star player but also having a great coach, team and system to implement your Game plan. But it is not always because a coach is better than his counterpart. It is the players, that play the game and know what to do in the moments in closing seconds and becoming a well rounded individual on campus. The majority of people think just because a player is talented.
I'm proud of you cliff. Keep it up young black brotha. From Elementary ( Brian piccolo) to a soon to be NBA Rookie. I hope to catch up with you soon in the future. One love
He got the hops. And he has the hot head to make prolific plays. But he seems a bit temperamental. If he gets the right coaching, keeps a cool head and develops some handles and a mid-range he has got a decent shot. The league is changing every year with these quick, strong big men that can shoot and these bigger power guards coming through
6'9" -- btw I'm from da Chi but I live in the ATL and had the chance to watch Dwight and Josh Smith in H.S. Dwight and Josh both have better bounce but Cliff definitely is definitely more ferocious then they were. He is 100% beast
Wingspan is a better measurement than height, in general, because differentials in neck length and head shape can account for a few inches of height in either direction -- the 'same body' can make for nearly a 4" differential in height, given the variety of neck/head combos. Wingspan, OTOH, don't lie.
it does not guarantee you success in the NBA. No matter where Cliff goes; I believe he will work hard, his coach will have him in a situation where he develops and succeeds/impacts the game in more ways than one. Cliff is a POWERFORWARD, AT ILLINOIS --THIS WILL BE A PART OF GROCE PLAN TO HAVE A FORWARD THAT can explode to the hoop, shoot the short jumper- and dribble dives all over the point of attack- because we will also have a CENTER IN EITHER EGWU...WHO CAN PASS OUT OF THE POST AND SHOOT
for some STRANGE REASON, I still have hope he comes to Illinois. I am frustrated and surprised the coach of (Curie would allow PLAYERS) DURING THE SEASON, TO run from being A STUDENT AND act everything else was above and beyond HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STANDARDS TO play ball being eligible....FIRST AND FOREMOST we need players WHO are willing to learn ( what is asked of them to do and achieve if they wont to play the game.
In 2007, with calipari playing with Dorsey, Rose. Anderson and a few diamonds of talent falls by not getting his players to foul with a lead. In the closing seconds; this led to M. Chalmers hitting a three to tie the score and go into overtime. But also remember that Derrick Rose playing well he didn't have one of his greatest NCAA TOURNMENT GAMES TO EVEN BE considered MVP if HE DID WIN..HE WAS 1-6 FROM THREE. AND TURNED THE BALL OVER 5TIMES.
In 2007; with Kansas having talent everywhere on the floor, wins Bigtwelve title. gets a top seed but lost to UCLA, WHICH WAS a lower rated seed. For that tournament; during another up and coming juggernaut in the COLLEGE BASKETBALL WORLD. Ohio State with and GROCE RECRUITING BIGTIME- GETTING CONLEY, DEIBLER, ODEN AND D. LIGHTY, which led to OHIO STATE HAVING A GREAT RUN.
To anybody that knows both of their skill sets, why is Jahlil Okafor rated as better than Cliff? He seems much more agile and effective defensively than Okafor.
I saw him dribble maybe twice...of course that's the nature of a highlight video. I feel like balancing the video out more, with maybe a 70/30 ratio of highlight dunks and blocks to whatever post moves he may have and maybe one dribble shots, wouldn't hurt viewership.
Illinois ends up in the championship game under Bruce almost winning a record 38 games in the season.. Kansas still relatively soft for pressing the ball and up tempo, lost to Bucknell University in the 1st round in 2005. Do you think the next year a lot was going to change though; self brought in another solid class. J.R.Giddens and others- Kansas flat out plays lethargic defense and allows (Bradley center to dominate inside. and Kansas misses a few one on one situations to loose again 77-73
That makes sense. He's gonna be a hell of a college player then, but I'm sure if Okafor wants to really dominate in the Pros he's got to lose some more weight. Nothing wrong with being big, but the League is so much faster. Roy Hibbert had to do the same.
Based on this video.. yeah u could say that but dwight had the same game as cliff alexander in highschool roughly 6'10,NBA body, freak of nature athlete without a single go to post move, jumpshot and most of dwight's points came from putbacks. The thing is,its unfair to judge how cliff alexander's career will pan out i mean we dont know.. and we wont until he is put in such circumstances and he has a lot of time to develop but for know youre right the only thing he boasts is potential and upside
I get so tired of these mix tapes. No doubt this kid is an amazing athlete but, at a certain height, almost anyone could dunk. I want to see his free throw motion and a couple of offensive and defensive post ups
To dunk like he is, maybe. But come on. With that wing-span he barely needs to jump! And I'm not saying it's not impressive or he won't be good. Not really saying anything about him. It's the people who produce these mix tapes and the type of people who want to watch them. Dunk, dunk, block, dunk. Footwork? Dexterity? Touch? Defensive feel? These are what get players to the next level. If you want to watch impressive dunks all day just go to And1's channel or something.
Kurt Bangle BTW, I'm a huge KU fan so, believe me, I'll be going nuts every time this kid throws it down. But I'd be happier if he went double-double every night and shot over 60% from the line and stayed out of foul trouble. Dunks don't win games.
Russel, I have to agree with you. This video is basically 3 minutes of the guy dunking the ball over and over. How about showing the play that gets him there.
i think if you want a sport where one physical attribute isn't the factor that determines whether or not you are successful in that sport, you should not be watching basketball. lol
I wouldn't say next Dwight Howard but maybe Paul Millsap,Amare Stoudemire, or maybe Anthony Davis. He wouldn't match to centers like Dwight, Hibbert or Al Horford.
For a team in need of a power forward, those comparisons are pretty okay as well. He'll probably play more as a power forward instead of a center in the NBA anyways.
Crazy Luigi regardless of the position he plays... hes going to need a really good point guard by his side to do this in the nba cause half of these highlights were passes from other players
flighta BOSTON I doubt they'll lose Goran Dragic, especially if the Suns go ahead and sign his little brother Zoran. As for Eric Bledsoe, we need to see what happens by the end of this month before we restart *this conversation.*
I wish someone would tell these kids that to be a great big man you MUST develop your post moves. All of the great bigs had 2-3 go to moves... Now days it is all pick & roll offense. too many young backcourts are one dimensional... they only have the P&R.
Because Jahlil Okafor is bigger, stronger, and has way better post game that includes hooks, spins, face-ups, some fadeaways. Cliff Alexander is way way faster and athletic and goes after the ball (block-wise) he is raw offensively and will have to get better. But, the reason Okafor is better because he still grabs a lot of rebounds and plays good defense, but he is a way more dominant player and can carry a team in the post I'm not sure if Alexander would be able to do that until he develops
Buster Posey Maybe its been stated 1000 times because these high school tapes are of players dunking and blocking shots. Two things that should be given attributes of any big man. What else can he do? Didn't see him dribble once. Didn't see him shoot a jumper once. Didnt see him do anything but dunk and block shots. That works in high school but you get with the big boys youre not gonna be dunking and blocking shots on every play. Show me somethin!
Well, im pretty sure it has to be over the cylinder for it to be offensive interference so maybe some of them. But alot of them were clearly already rolling off the rim ( out of the cylinder) but yea sorry your comment about him stealing points just seemed silly. No hate intended.
***** Anthony Davis and Cousins are both better than Dwight. He's starting to lose his athleticism and that's the best part of his game. I don't watch NBA games? Lol no I just watch the games of bad team also, that's what you need to do in order to actually rank players.
***** Speaking of fun, the best part is that the L.A. Lakers' pick gets conveyed to the Phoenix Suns this year if it's outside of the top 5 (thanks for that Steve Nash), which means that rebuilding from the draft now is almost a bit impossible this season. Enjoy losing enough games to where you won't get a Top 5 pick... lol
HE can leave early, because of his NBA-draft ranking; which is conducted by a lot of basketball analysts that do not even coach a game. IS a given just because a player goes to a certain program and avg's 15 pts and wins a decent amount of games his first year that he is going to be a no.1 draft pick....I THINK THIS IS A BAD MISTAKE BY TEAMS IN THE NBA TO DRAFT BECAUSE OF POTENTIAL...how many upperclassmen because of staying in college has benefitted largely because of working on fundamentals
Why would he wanna go to Illinois? Bill Self isn't there anymore and they haven't been good since his players left.. Illinois is a good school though. I've seen a few places that its between Kansas and Mich. St but then again who really knows
There's a lot more to basketball then being able to posterize high schoolers half your size...
Dwight can dunk but is also recognized for his defense and rebounding
You must not have paid attention to the defensive plays in the video. Or the box scores of game where he would post 20+ points and 20+ rebounds. Along with being named the HS POY... Good thing he's known for more than just posterizing high school kids half his size!!
Let me guess... You're a mizzou fan? Lmao
I enjoy sound fundamentals, defense, and good footwork as much as the next guy, but I mean.. buckets are buckets, no matter how you get them.
i am a point guard who will prob never be able to dunk but you know damn well im not bashing him fir his play-style cause if i could dunk like that thats all i would do to
The talent coming out of Chicago is crazy!
I honestly came into this vid thinking that I wasn't going to be that impressed, but I can definitely see the similarities to Dwight Howard. pretty solid.
I went to DC tonight to see him play against Georgetown. He looks slimmer then in high school. Very raw, but tons of talent! I wish him well!
This season he is averaging nearly 30 pts, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks a game in CHICAGO people, really good competition. He is the best rebounder in the nation, best finisher around the rim, and has a great motor. He should be the national player of the year so far. This kid is so athletic. After a couple of years in the KU development system, I could see him going number one in th NBA draft.
this didnt age well
He got the hops. And he has the hot head to make prolific plays. But he seems a bit temperamental. If he gets the right coaching, keeps a cool head and develops some handles and a mid-range he has got a decent shot.
The league is changing every year with these quick, strong big men that can shoot and these bigger power guards coming through
No doubt. If he can knock down the 18 footer w/ consistency, he'll be a nightmare to defend.
Sounds like a guy like Jeff Hornacek would be just right for his own skillsets...
sick how the beat go with every dunk n block
he's only 6'8" and plays the 4, not Dwight. Paul Milsap maybe
he can still grow. and his wingspan really makes him like 7 feet
6'9" -- btw I'm from da Chi but I live in the ATL and had the chance to watch Dwight and Josh Smith in H.S. Dwight and Josh both have better bounce but Cliff definitely is definitely more ferocious then they were. He is 100% beast

Dan Galluccio well he is in the d league
Welcome to KU Cliff! Gonna be a force next year
3 minutes of Dunking??? Wow im very impressed.
whats up man i loved your vid on allen fieldhouse and sppace
Next Dwight Howard: goes undrafted 😂
LOL check again .. BROOKLYN NETS ⚪️⚫️
Dwight in the d league
+DreamTeamillusion He didn't get drafted though.
Gonna be a monster next year at KU..
Two Chicago kids one and two. That's pretty cool
@Mike Henke I know this is a late reply but it's a CLIFF ALEXANDER highlight video not a team highlight video
This is a man down on the block. I attended the rematch against Whitney Young & i must say he deserves the #1 spot , no disrespect to Okafor.

this guy is absolutely filthy. he dunks EVERYTHING. people in the comment section these days smh
does a true big really need a jumpshot? We said dwight howard not chris bosh

Good to know hes going to KU but hopefully he can shoot well because he cant just dunk like that in college
Definitely paul milsap. A little Thaddeous young too maybe. He's a beast man.
Scrappy , Passionate . He'll Be Fine ..
I think I need to see more highlights of him dunking on 6'3 guys to be sure. Maybe another whole seasons worth.
THE CHANCE FOR GREATNESS IS FAST APPROACHING....AS SOME MAY SEE AND SAY THE STARS ARE ALIGNED FOR THE ILLINI TO BREAKTHROUGH.
BEAST!!!!
The players are like "Shit coach you think I'm guarding him, fuck that"
The mixtape is good but I just want to know if he can dunk
Right ask far as being an athlete but different player comparison. Would Amare be a better comparison than Dwight ?
DAMN HE MOVES WELL FOR A BIG GUY!!!
So dunking underneath the basket is worth a #2 ranking...R.I.P to my beloved hoops
Some post moves please?
If He developes a decent post game he'll be fine maybe all star if his post game is something serious

WELCOME TO KANSAS DUDE!!
The team in the Red in this video (H-F) we beat cliffs team and held him to 9 points. Id say thats a pretty nice accomplishment
JUST HAVING A monster mash on THE BACKBOARDS AND DUNKING LIKE ITS 1999.
Both number 1 and 2 high school players are from Chicago
I said it on one of his videos awhile back but this dude plays exactly like Montrezl Harrell
Damn yt algorithm.
Lmao
He is an animal!!!
That's a man out there
Come to MSU, Sparty and the Izzone will be a good home
Jumpshot?

Certified beast
Have fun dunking every play in the NBA.
JUST BALL JUST BALL CLIFF...COME TO ILLINOIS.
Never seen so many dunks in a mixtape got boring after 1 minute
Rock Chalk, Cliff. Can't wait for you in Lawrence. Ku ALL DAY.
ILLINI WILL RIDE FAST AND HARD IN CHAMPAIGN...WITH YOU. LETS GO ALEXANDER
Spot on description
I get so tired of these mix tapes. No doubt this kid is an amazing athlete but, at a certain height, almost anyone could dunk. I want to see his free throw motion and a couple of offensive and defensive post ups
You obviously have no athletic talent or understand how it works.. even at 6'8' it takes a pretty good athlete to dunk like he is.

Dominates off the glass... Post moves???
CLIFF DO NOT LET HATERS STOP YOUR GOAL. IN GROCE WE TRUST....33 AND I'M OUT THIS ________.
Cliff will look good in crimson and blue
Note the lack of jumpshots, ball handling, and passing
So many dunks and blocks OMG lol
Because Jahlil Okafor is bigger, stronger, and has way better post game that includes hooks, spins, face-ups, some fadeaways. He doesn't have to stare at EVERYBODY after he's dunked on them
@General .....can you read at all smh where did I say anything about free throws ...if free throws is part of having real range let me know
Illinois, I don't see Alexander going to Kansas if Jahlil does
Looks like a more athletic Julius Randle
Beast mode
The real question is can he dunk??
You get an A+ for originality.
Buster Posey

@kbattle33 Do u happen to be kenny battle?
No one should want to be the next Dwight Coward.
***** He's not the best Center in the NBA anymore and he's certainly not contending for a championship, Houston is a 1st round exit once again.
***** Nah wake up it's not 2010 anymore
***** Anthony Davis and Cousins are both better than Dwight. He's starting to lose his athleticism and that's the best part of his game. I don't watch NBA games? Lol no I just watch the games of bad team also, that's what you need to do in order to actually rank players.

Let's see his jumps hot or him using his left
i wish they would show the play that led to the dunk instead of showing 1sec. clips of dunks all mashed up together
Does he shoot?
hes the next cliff alexander
I know he can shoot but can he dunk?
i just learned he can dunk really well over small kids lol. but he does remind me of dwight
ANYWHERE AND FLYING THROUGH THE AIR......WE NEED YOU ALEXANDER!!!!!!!!!!! COME AND JOIN THE ILLINIBLOCK PARTY......I PIECE, 1 TEAM, 1 ILLINI DESTINY.
did u not see the title next dwight howard
Him and JaQuan Lyle package deal to Kansas. RALK CHALK BABY!!!!!
but can he dunk
HE can leave early, because of his NBA-draft ranking; which is conducted by a lot of basketball analysts that do not even coach a game. IS a given just because a player goes to a certain program and avg's 15 pts and wins a decent amount of games his first year that he is going to be a no.1 draft pick....I THINK THIS IS A BAD MISTAKE BY TEAMS IN THE NBA TO DRAFT BECAUSE OF POTENTIAL...how many upperclassmen because of staying in college has benefitted largely because of working on fundamentals
He reminds me of Drummond.. :)
Lol no glimpse of his jump shot at all...
I need to see him play against other man-children. Right now he's just the biggest on the court.
Go Green Cliff!!!
FIGHTY +ORANGENATION = MIGHTY!
Why would he wanna go to Illinois? Bill Self isn't there anymore and they haven't been good since his players left.. Illinois is a good school though. I've seen a few places that its between Kansas and Mich. St but then again who really knows
