That tip to rename files by chronological order is GENIUS. I need that program (automator) for PC.
I make kayak fishing vlogs, and really struggle to stay consistent because of how long the edit takes. It’s a lot of footage to scrub through, and building the storyline has been a struggle. Thanks for the videos that help with the workflow!
I absolutely love your content on vlogs. Is it just me or does it seem like UA-cam is promoting more newer channels/ videos with less of a focus on SEO? My analytics are showing that more and more people are finding me through the home feed and not through search I feel like this is great for those wanting to vlog.
I definitely think that is the case!! youtube has been changing up how they do recommendations to try to get smaller channels more exposure :)

Awesome tips, Katie! One thing I've been doing during the rough cut is using the transcribe feature + text-based edit. This way, I don't have to make the edits manually 🎯

Hi Katie! Love your videos :) I followed your advice & renamed my file names - but when I import them, the date is always the date of import -not the date I actually took the video. Any ideas how to fix that?

Hey Katie! Thank you for another great video. The renaming of files is a genius hack! If I'm travelling, would you recommend that I update my camera to the location's time zone so all the footage is in chronological order?
yes! i always try to do that when travelling - make sure all your cameras/devices are on the same time zone!

Do you use hard drives or just your laptop’s storage? I filmed my first video on my phone but after downloading davinci, I don’t have anymore room for videos. Also going from iPhone to a PC is a nightmare 🥴 now I have this video that I can’t even edit. Wondering if anyone has tips!

Also, how do I get the camera file to have zv1 and zve10 in front of it instead of mvi... and c....?
it's a setting within the cameras - you can change the start of the file name. I think by default it's C- (and then the number) but I changed it over to the name of the camera!

Thanks for another great video! I just added the quick action to rename my files, as I also film with multiple cameras. But one question and maybe you can do a video about this. Everytime you mention your premier pro templates I get so confused like how to do you create and save these project files/templates within premier that save you time. lol so lost

I'm honestly just so impressed that you do your own editing still, as you're a pretty big creator at this point. I outsource a solid portion of my editing, although I do enjoy keeping some of the creative process as my own (my videos are nearly all "talking head" style), but even that for me is A LOT... and I'm a WAY smaller creator haha. At first I was giving myself a little leeway as I run a business fueled by my channel, but you have a whole ass multifaceted business lol, so PROPS to you!

Editing vlogs is so. hard. I am in greay turmoil whenever I try; I just can't figure out what's interesting and what's not... Because it's me, I feel like whatever I'm saying is boring/takes too long.
Sorry Katie, I normally love your videos - but this one is way too complex and 'high level' for me - I need something much more basic - can you tell I'm not an expert in editing 😅
