I love my Nordace backpack BUT my zip/zipper is broken now after 2 years 9 months of use. I tried the trick your BF tried for a while but it's not longer working. I tried to contact them for support but just got blocked by my browser from uploading a photo. Since they are in Hong Kong, I doubt they have a service center here. I'm going to measure the zip and see if I can find out and have a tailor replace it. I try to buy things that are made to last. It hurst my heart to throw things in a landfill after such a short use. I have an Eagle Creek daypack I've had for 30 years! I've taken it to Europe several times, used it for commuting to school and work, day hikes. Now THAT's quality! Still in GREAT SHAPE. But the Nordace pack is cuter to me. I want something that looks less like hiking gear and more like a simple yet stylish briefcase/suitcase/commuter bag. Hope I can get mine fixed!
Were you able to fix your zipper? I know you posted a year ago… mine broke after one year of daily use (I used it as a nappy bag from 2021-2022) kept it in storage for over 2 years now, still not able to throw it away
I've dealt with pretty cheap and pretty bad zips and the zips on my nordace backpack are definitely an upgrade and have been working alright for me ^-^
I've had my Sienna Classic Backpack for close to two years now and I was actually happily surprised with the quality of the zips! I use the backpack on a daily base for work and in the weekends I use it as a weekender bag and then I stuff the backpack pretty full (with lots of tension on the zips). The zippers are holding up perfectly fine. Sorry to hear you've had a different experience.
Thank you for the review. I don't know if you will read this comment, but just in case you do, I'll give you a little trick how to fix zipper. It's pretty easy, actually. The reason you zipper doesn't close is than from the constant use the slit in the slider widened. The only thing you need is to take small, or thin pliers and carefully press on the slider till the slit is as it used to be. Unfortunately, it will happen again as a usual wear and tear. Good luck
Thank you Yulia! 🙏💚🌸I'm going to try this! I'm not exactly sure I understand what you meant because one slider is working and the other isn't and they look the same to me. Neither one looks bigger but this is worth a try! Still I wish they had used a better quality one as I mentioned in my other comment I have a backpack that is 30 years old and never had ANY problem with the zippers.
The zip can be fixed by pressing the front part of the zipper tighter, this is very easy and one of the best real hacks I know 😄 there are videos demonstrating how if you search for fixing a broken zipper on youtube, it’s worth trying! This fault is something that happens when you use the zipper a lot and it gets worn down
People from the US need to pull their head in. English is from the UK (hint: ENGLAND) it did not originate in the US. As an Australian we have many variations to UK english as well.
Just bought one, waiting for it to arrive. I can’t wait. I got it for riding around in my motorcycle cause it has pockets to keep everything in place and the clips to keep the straps together so they don’t come off
The zipper on my Nordace backpack broke the first time I used it. Unfortunately I was at the airport when this happened and I was unable to grab my tried and true Patagonia backpack to replace it. I contacted customer service. They told me they could refund 15% or I could buy a new one. A 15% refund is not helpful. I'm still stuck with a bag that has a broken zipper. The customer service was quite disappointing.
Zip issues here also, I am sure there are many with these issues. I am fortunate that my wife is a seamstress in her free time and found this is a difficult but doable fix in replacing the zip, however for everyone else, this would be £80 down the drain.
Thanks for the vid - I'm thinking of getting one of these. Here in the UK it's definitely "Zip" , short for "Zip Fastener" - patented by the Japanese company "YKK" 👍. But as long as we all know what we're on about - it really doesn't matter. I'm surprised by how well it's held up with significant use over 2 years - I wish more UA-camr's would do these comparisons 😁 I can get the Siena (mk1) for £75.64 today whereas their Siena 2 is £116.99 (both post free), so I'm going to do some more research before committing to a 55% premium. What do you think? Regarding the broken zips, I'd pop an email to the UK distributor (with pics) - hopefully as a matter of goodwill they will repair or replace free of charge. The bag has obviously not been mistreated in any way and it should last longer than two years. If, you do please let us know the outcome. Edit: I've just sent an enquiry via their UK web contact form which reads, I'll let you know what response I get. Regarding the USB output socket, I think being vertically mounted it might be a little bit vulnerable to rain or moisture. I've just looked on the "bay" and found some rubber blanking plugs which might help with this issue?
Thanks for posting. After doing a little on-line research, reading many comments on the product on the net I'v decided not to purchase one of these bags. Thanks
Hi Monika, thanks for the review. May I ask - how was the bag treated? Some people are very gentle, treat things well, and other people chuck things on their floor, are a bit rougher with use. I tend towards the later... so the bag looks good (except for the zips - I use zipper for the ?handle and zips for the whole thing) but was it treated nicely or is that minimal wear and tear from someone who puts it on the ground, doesnt pay much attention to care etc?
@@hAnHaNaH786 I ended up getting a backpack from Aer, and I LOVE IT. it’s been on trips to Vegas and Cabo San Lucas and it still looks new. Lots of storage pockets.
Do you mind trying the montage bag or the laflore bobobark bag and telling us if it is worth it? I fear the former is not worth the price and the latter's clasp won't stay closed with normal packing. Thanks!! :)
Great review. Looking at this bag I came across your channel. As I’m looking for a bag that can be taken on planes and ideally more rectangular shaped. I have a 15” portable monitor, MacBook Air, iPad Pro and a Surface laptop, along with an Anker 737 power bank and plug, plus cables. I then want some space for the odd piece of clothing. So what bag do you recommend that has similar features I am looking to a rectangular backpack for travel. Plus could you recommend a compression bag alternative, as it is very expensive. Thanks

This was not the cause of the zip on my bag breaking, all of the teeth failed to secure and keep the bag shut.
I think the bag looks AMAZING after two years of constant use! Just received mine and am thrilled to see this “negative” review!
