Clearly the ski athleticism has transferred over to the mtb world, your skills are increasing every time I see a new video on the bike! Rule 1 of mtb progression is commitment, and clearly you got that pretty dialed. Not a lot of riders would be sending dirt merchant as early on as yourself, but you made it look easy! From here, you can dial in the basics like body position and braking to give yourself the most consistent and comfortable platform to keep sending like you have been. Rotate the elbows a little out to create a sort of push-up position over the bars but keep as much weight on your legs as possible. Hinge your hips and point your butt up by flexing your lower back to create a flat "table" with knees pointed gently outward to create the most stable ready position you can when riding technical terrain or jumpy sections. The goal is to let the bike do as much work as possible, while you just stand there and react to the movements + scan the trail ahead. Brake before the corners but let go through them, and apply gentle pressure in the compression to gain rocket ship like speed out. Means you pedal less and flow w the trail even more. These ofc aren't "make or break" techniques but they'll make anyone's riding safer and smoother. Very much looking forward to the biking videos in the future :)
Hey, I'm trying to work on my posture on the bike and pumping the compression more, when you say apply gentle pressure in the compression do you mean push down on the handlebars a bit?
@@ScrubsTheNewcomers Do most of the compression with your legs as opposed to your arms. Generally a good body position means as little weight on the hands and arms as possible so they don’t fatigue as quick. Your legs do most of the pressure control (pumping, “hovercrafting” the bike over roots & rocks, etc) and your arms are more for steering and reacting to the terrain as it comes to you. When I say apply gentle pressure though compressions, it’s a very subtle leg / ankle movement which make you and the bike feel “heavier” than normal. Any other questions let me know :)
@@BuffiestFluff Ayee good to hear from you dude! Things are great in whis, hope y'all are doing good over there too! Should catch a lap when im back :)
It's so good to see someones mtb progression when you watch a lot of MTB utbers like skillswithpil etc because you don't really see in their footage how quickly they're going, or how big/difficult the features are. This makes it look how it actually is. Really difficult and sometimes really scary
Found your channel because of that first biking video you made, I subbed the second I realized we lived in the same city. So hype seeing you progress dude!
This channel is the best i am already into skiing now just trying to get into mountain biking up in big bear I live kind of near the beach so it is a little bit of a drive for me but so worth it
Holy shit! 1. Awesome progression so far keep it up 2.what camera, recording and exporting settings did you use for the “knox” 2024 recording? That footage looks unreal
Yo steep, love the videos. When I say this I'm trying to be helpful, but I noticed that when you corner you brake a lot in them. If you can brake into them Instead of in them you can carry more speed and have to take less pedal strokes. Keep up the good work!
I did one MTB season at Whistler, had some gnarly moments. One time i was peeing blood after going over the handlebars right under the chairlift. That was my last season because i found out i only had one kidney and didn't want to damage it. Fun times.
UA-cam is not giving me all of your uploads! Wtf I would call them and find out what's going on. Keep up a great work brother, I'll be checking your channel every week to make sure I catch every upload. 👁️
You should absolutely start biking. However this dude is already like a pro skier which a lot of that skill transfers so don't get frustrated if you don't pick it up as quick. He's a freak of nature.
Awesome progression buddy. Watch some moto fundamentals videos, a lot of the same stuff applies to dh. Hit the gym too - my progression in dh racing skyrocketed when i got super fit.
i hate how the jumps and drops look like 1 metre tall and when you go 3rd person you can really see how big it actually is but it is still probably bigger in real life.
Enduro/teail bike riders are so wwird to me. Its like reverse bike progression. People will be sending massive drops and jumps but have no technical bike skill lol, or endurance. Im like a fish out of water over a gap jump but can ride 40 foot skinnies all day. XC ftw
You got me skiing after 12 years, dont tell me that youre gonna make me dust off my 2015 Merida and hit the trails. :D Love the vibes as always
Hey, I miss you
Hi steep steep you should try dirt jumping!
Hello. It's me
I’m so glad ur back😁😁
Steep whats your camera setup at 6:30? looks super crisp!
I agree you should try some dirt jumps

Dude you gotta come down to Washington. Places like raging river, tiger mountain, Galbraith mountain, and especially places like duthie hill are lit.
Skiing skills translate rather well to mtb. I've seen that with a couple of my friends. Clearly worked for you too:)
