We definitely can see the potential of using this platform for Davinci Resolve. It is only going to get better. I picked up a severely discounted M1 iPad Pro 12.9 just to play with it on the road. Touch screen plus the pencil does have some unique capabilities that need to be explored when Resolve is released. Even working in tandem with others using the Blackmagic Cloud. Exciting.

FYI, the non beta version does have speed ramping. You just have to use the shortcut to open edit page.

I'm not seeing any option for an Edit page in Resolve iPad. No option in keyboard shortcuts either. Am I doing something wrong? Does it need to be Resolve Studio (expensive upgrade)?

I'm recently retired and in the process of buying a motorcycle and heading out on the road with no plan in particular. I have been learning Davinci Resolve 18 on my pc and want to make videos on the road from picnic tables, cabins and motel rooms. In my research thus far I'm narrowing in on a new version iPad, external SSD, Davinci Resolve and a couple of cameras. Any suggestions/tips appreciated.

It's awesome that Black Magic made Davinci Resolve for iPad. I think it's worth having, and maybe using in a pinch, or like, if you're camping or on a short airplane ride.
However, you can get a 2018 Macbook Pro second hand these days (mid-2024) for like $250, and a 2020 for about $450-500.
An iPad with a mouse and keyboard could actually make this pretty decent, but if you're going to have a mouse and keyboard, wouldn't you just have a laptop?
Anyway, thanks for showing us this! There aren't a lot of DVR iPad videos out there, and I'm pretty sure I won't be doing much with my copy of it, but I have it just in case, and I always appreciate seeing what people can do with the iPad.

Any chance you can do a new start to finish video now that we can use the edit page on iPad instead of using the cut page?

Biggest question: Audio/Video Sync. Since we don’t have the Media Page to sync by time code or waveform, do we have to sync in the timeline on the Cut Page? Everything else looks pretty standard, but if we can’t sync audio, then this is more of a Montage/Social Media tool, yeah?

Thank you so much for this very helpful content 😊🙏✨
I've been editing for Final Cut for about 10 years now and seeing the poor follow up on Apple updates lately, I'm now strongly considering switching 🙄
Doing the round trip with the Ipad is one of the plus, since my biggest resistance with Resolve is the lack of second playhead (Skimmer) when mouse overring the timeline...
It's such a key feature in FCP and as a traveler, I am use to edit with touchpad only, and on FCP I am actually faster and more precise with the pad than I would be with the mouse 😅
However, the alternative of using the cut page on the ipad for my first draft could be a big plus 🤔 And maybe even coming back on iPad for color grading, seem to make sense (With side car dual screen ??).
So, long story short, I am wondering: since you open the video showing that some effects and transitions aren't working, does this create a problem when round tripping from one to the other =
In other terms: Will they reconnect naturally when going back to desktop or will they break the project ?
    Thank you 🙏

I’m a week into learning Davinci on my iPad. I have the edit page unlocked. One annoying thing I’m finding is moving clips around on the timeline, I’m forever overwriting clips. Is there a better way to move the order of clips around other than copying and inserting clips that way

I bought the new iPad Pro M4 for short edits with davinci resolve. But I have a big problem with an external SSD. After I import some media, the files show up correctly in Davinci Resolve for a short time. But after a few seconds all media is offline and I can't access the media in the files app.The SSD is still displayed in the Files app, but I cannot access it. To be able to access it again, I have to restart the ipad. . But even then I can't use the external SSD for editing. I have no idea what the problem is. With internal footage it works without problems...

Great content. Quick question though. For a total newbie to video editing, would DaVinci Resolve for iPad be a great / practical way to get into it or would it be better to start off on the full computer version first before trying the iPad version?

Finalcut is much, much better! I tried Davinci, but, no, no! Thank you Apple for making the wonderful Finalcut and Motion. And now that Pixelmator Pro is made to work perfectly with Motion, it cannot get any better. Add Adobe After Effects and you are happy to go! Thank you for letting me explain what I think.
