New Haven was once lined with Elm trees and was known, nationally, as Elm City. Left when I was 23. Am now 93. Then, it was a wonderful place to live. East Rock, West Rock, Yale, Savin rock, The Green, numerous factories, Yale, Peabody Museum, Lighthouse, etc. etc. etc. As a kid, I bicycled everywhere. It broke my heart when my neighborhood was demolished for the highway connector. I loved New Haven.
@Jaybird wtf ru talking about! U people! I still live in new haven and have been here my whole life. I can tell u one thing, not one group or race is responsible for ruining this city. Ok, Hartford has some grimy hoods, but the video on here was boring. I haven't been in Hartford since the late 90's. You guys in Hartford cooler than Bridgeport? Ok here's my thing with Connecticut. I ride public transportation along the 95 corridor in Connecticut. The Metro North and more local lines. There's never any characters on these lines. There's no suburban drug traffic heading in and out of the cities. If one rides public transportation in New Jersey...get ready for a show. Half of the people are coming and going from copping in Camden, Philly, Newark etc. All the transit areas are all wacky. It ain't like that in Connecticut. And I still say New Haven is nice as hell.
All the One Way streets in this town drive me nuts! I try to avoid driving & walk whenever I can. This didn't look very bad, but it's still hard to believe this town is also home to Yale University.
New Haven is an old factory town that has now become both a college and corporate service town. These hoods dont look bad however at night it could be an entirely different story.
@z man I used to live on sylvan ave and Howard ave but let me tell ya back in 2010 and 2012 3 shots per day always someone gettin shot, but I think we finally woke up and started lovin eachother.

SouthjettyBill They shut that down in the 90's. Only country ass cities still have that lol. They don't even open air in Harlem anymore . Your stuck in a time warp.lol
Nah, Aquil... You guys - Harlem included - just live in sissy cities. Come on down to Newark, NJ, Paterson, NJ, Camden, NJ and the ultra-woodsy Philadelphia, PA... Open-air... Open-air... Open- air. West Side of Chicago is a big place, too. You Connecticut guys would have a stroke in the West Kensington/Fairhill sections of Philly. That dope, hard, powder, loud and wet are on every corner. Some corners have been going since the 70's. New York is a police state these days. Plus, I guess they run once the police put some heat on. Hell, they even tried to bring in big New York police reformers to Philly. They lost. Philly corner boys have the place on lock and don't run and hide if it gets a bit hot. Dudes from New York come down to Philly to cop that dope. The Jungle is a total waste of drug real estate. Have a nice day, Aquil. Foxon to you all...
Everybody is talking like New Haven is some kind of shooting gallery. Yet the murder rate for New Haven in 2016 was 9.96 people murdered per 100,000 inhabitants. That's less than twice as high as the average for the whole country, which is 5.3 per 100,000 inhabitants. New Haven has a higher murder rate, sure, but being less than twice as high as the whole country is not exactly like being in a war zone.
In 2011 newhave had 40-50 muders making it the 4th most dangerous city in the us behind detroit stlouis and Flint. When shit pops and gangs are at war it get live man these last few years are the lowest homicide rate new Haven has seen in a literally 100 years

SouthjettyBill u never been to Hartford if u think Hartford is not Ghetto now i was with u with NEW Haven because i think its clean Compared to Hartford but shit do go down in New Haven but for u to think Hartford ia boring u dumb as fuck google my city shit goes down on the Regular Hartford is the murder Capital of New England !!
@@howconnecticutdo2209 LOLOL the murder capital of Connecticut is New Haven, NOT Hartford.
I moved to Springfield ma 3 years ago I miss new haven
Springfield is a shithole!!!
@@mariooliveira9074 👍👍👍
New Haven is better. You went from bad to economically worse
DRUG DEALERS dont even hang outside on the corner anymore.. What a Shame!!.
Humanity has truly lost its way..
@z man no its deff not 😂
Now go to SPRING ST IN NEW HAVEN, CT THAT'S THE " HOOD "
Why did he only go to 1 hood way across town (coming from a New Haven resident)
From 5:30 on, that is not New Haven.
@@juancyroman7108 that is not downtown New Haven thz new rochelle at the end
That's not New haven at the end and the only hood that was shown was the hill .
❤💗💗❤
Used to be a beautiful neighborhood, from what my grandparents say, what happened?
The end is New Rochelle, New York!!! That's where I was born. You got your footage all mixed up dude.
My guy drove around the worst parts of new haven I live there and it is really nice where I live beautiful houses near hill house high school
@z man I used to live on sylvan ave and Howard ave but let me tell ya back in 2010 and 2012 3 shots per day always someone gettin shot, but I think we finally woke up and started lovin eachother.
charlie you ended up going threw the safest section of the city of new haven, if u went threw the vill. the tre'. the terrer dome the jungle just to name a few shit would had been off the wall
Ah yeah.. the Jungle.. Concrete city - down by the train station, right?
JOHN colombo the hill is not safe, but the ville would have given him an interactive experience.
Since when is the Hill Safe ???
Vill is the worst. Most shootings.
JOHN colombo Actaully that's not the safest place only during the day but at night Fair Haven is like 🔫🔫🔫🔫🔫🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
Pistol Wavin New Haven....
Go to New Britain bruh theres netas out there
6:12 Building on the right is New Rochelle Transit Center, In New York, 303 North Ave
I used to live there!
Man there is some good places to set up shop in New Haven but the locals are too scared to sell open-air.
SouthjettyBill You got that all right! No bullshit in what you wrote! You described the "Heat" of the Country, except Detroit being the worst!
Weird UA-cam recommended me this video and saw MYSELF in it . I’m the girl @3:35
Whz ya snap 👀
Looks so different... The Hill has changed
When shit pops and gangs are at war it get live man these last few years are the lowest homicide rate new Haven has seen in a literally 100 years
chateroakfirearmschannel Perhaps, as I've heard, New Haven is once again a safe city to live and raise a family!🙏🙏
@@joelspivak6622 YALE P.R. 😆 🤣
The safest being the 8
Noticed he drove through K Ave (Kimberly Ave). Call it the good but it’s not that horrible of a place. My cousins were raised there and I used to visit over there pretty often.

Wow at 0:07. A blue Ford Tempo. I haven’t seen one of those cheaply made vehicles in a while. The owner must be babysitting that thing. 😂😂
I used to own one. The engine and transmission outlasted the the body. 😂
