Hello Ping skills, please help in clarifying a rule. It's well documented that while a ball is in play, players cannot touch the table with their free hand. What is the rule about accidentally hitting/come in contact with any part of table during rally from any part of the body other than playing hand? For example, while hitting my foot hit one of the legs of the table, it did not move the table but it definitely shook it slightly. Another scenario is thigh touching the table while hitting a close to net drop shot. Does it automatically award the point to the opponent? Thank you

As long as you don't move the table it is play on. However if it shakes that might count as moving the table.

If the momentum is going the way of my opponent I sometimes "stretch out" my time and slow things down.. (ie - fetching the ball.. shoelaces)
If I am winning I keep the momentum fast paced to capitalise on their negative thoughts

Thanks for sharing your strategies. That sounds like a good way to approach things. As long as slowing things down does not become too excessive. Good luck with your table tennis.

Lol.. how is that so if it’s all done within the legally allowed timeframe?
Mental pressure is part of sport is it not?

There is a 58 yr old guy at our club. The moment he realizes he is losing points often or near end of the deciding set, he starts these tricky tactics and takes atleast 2 mins break every point... it could be either a restroom break, checking on tiktok or have refreshments... thing is all of these excuses are barely legal and umpire wouldn't call out on him 😆

Slowing things down is one thing but taking way too long is very frustrating. It is difficult for umpires in this situation too.
