Aliens Realise The Air Was TOO PURE | SciFi HFY Stories

There was nothing left of us after the war. We were once magnificent-living in peace and prosperity for a million years. Our technology, society, and culture were envied by even the greatest species. That was what it meant to be Retti. Generation after generation, we knew no pain, fear, or loss. We marked everything we exported with our sigil, a long, sinuous body with two tails and an elongated head with manipulator appendages. We believed that this mark of excellence would garner respect from those we traded with. Instead, it bred jealousy and greed.
Unprepared for the conflict, we were defenseless when the war came. An alliance of species-Jon, Seil, and Togan-swept through our systems like wildfire. Our homeworld was reduced to bedrock, a million years of glorious history erased. We could only watch in horror or turn away. Most of our colonies were obliterated, and those that survived were swallowed by our enemies when they divided the spoils. The guns finally fell silent, revealing that nothing remained of us that mattered. Our civilization and its wonders were reduced to a footnote in some other species' archive.
