As others mentioned in this video, you need to include the mounting dimensions. They are critical as you may or may not know. As a furniture maker for 55 years , I know each brand of this type of hardware has different mounting directions. They work great, but I’m sure your viewers don’t want 40 holes in their box to get it right. Just a suggestion, thank you

Hi! I found your video while looking for a solution for a drop leaf table I want to put in my 2 year old’s bedroom. I bought an IKEA NORBO wall-mount drop leaf table second hand because I would like a surface she can use for coloring or doing puzzles, but want to to be able to fold down out of the way when she wants to run around. The problem is the tabletop is HEAVY and I’m afraid it would cause injury if she accidentally knocks the support out from under the leaf. Do you know of any similar slow close hinge that would work for that situation? I’m thinking I’ll be stuck installing an edge material sticking out from the wall to attach the hinge to, as I haven’t been able to find a hinge with the right angles to install directly to the wall… thanks for your time!
Sounds like a great project. This is not the hinge for that purpose but Sugatsune has a hinge that would work. See link at end. Make sure it fits you weight needs. The only issue I see is the pinch points of the hinge around children. So do your research. Thanks for watching. www.grainger.com/product/4CRT3?gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:GGL:CSM-2295:4P7A1P:20501231&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4s-kBhDqARIsAN-ipH1rvQrvvkwMGF_Ansh3AfTXl28u6hLV5Yurzbpsi4u9yR3qKsBUXDYaArO3EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
I mocked up a pretend lid with scrap wood and tested different positions until I found a position that worked. My hinge instructions were in Japanese and I had to convert the mm to inches. I hope this helps.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Really helpful, thank you. Can I assume the mounting plates have to be placed in precisely measured locations, or is there some wiggle room?
I'm stuck with trying to find a stay for a toy box lid. I understand how they work however, you never spoke to where to install them. The instructions that come with these hinges are very complex.
Download the instruction from my website. It is free. It has a chart with weight capacity on it. Or call customer service. They are great about helping with those types of questions.
Help! I bought this hinge but it does the opposite of what the video shows. My hinge opens slow, and closes fast. I did exactly what you did in the video. Anyone know why this is happening??
I bought this exact hinge but I have a problem with the orientation of the piece that connects to your top. The piece that would swivel into the small clip , on your top, is not pointing down on my rod. It is 180 degrees off pointing up. I have the round spring portion pointing down, consistent with your video showing the round spring portion pointing down. My thoughts are that it’s just a manufacturing fault ? Finally took a pair of pliers and rotated that top piece to the correct position. Problem solved.
Thats great. Glad you got it fixed. I havent seen what you are talking about before so it must have been a manufacturer defect. Glad the closure worked for you.
Hi, is it possible to use this hinge with braking in the opposite direction? Consider low cabinet, with door that hinges from bottom. I would like to use something like this for soft open, and as a flap stay...
It might work, but i dont know how long it would last. I don't think the spring is strong enough to hold the the door in a folding down direction. The hinge is made to slow the door speed with downward resistance, not a pulling resistance. Give it a try and let me know the results. You had a very good question. Thanks for watching.
I’m planning on installing one of these on a plastic pelican box/case. Any ideas what fixings I can use? The walls of the box are very thin so would probably have to use some bolts instead
For pelican cases with more industrial use and durability they use a a lifter similar to what is used in trunks of vehical but just smaller. I would try that first.
Hi @TheGarageEngineer! Is it at all possible with this hinge to adjust it for a wider opening angle, say 120 -135 degree opening angle? And if not, are you aware of a similar product that could do this? Cheers!
Depends on the size of the lid. there is a formula in the instructions, pg 2. or you can call tech support. they are very helpful. storage.googleapis.com/wzukusers/user-34952674/documents/4a48b1e744334425bae4fbbf66725c89/Sugatune%20sds_c301n%20install%20instructions.pdf

The hinge has a screw that you can make a little adjustments. But if the adjustment screw is not working then the placement of the hinge on the box side needs to be moved to a different location. I had to make a test box to figure out exactly where to best place the hinge. The instructions are not perfect because each project is a little different. The weight of the lid and the lid size effects how the hinge works. Let me know how it works outs for your project. And thanks for watching.
Nice, but in the UK that closer is £60 ($80) plus delivery. I can get soft closers for about an 1/8th of that. Good video though. Out of interest, how much do they cost in the US?
