Yes, this court case stemmed from the Harvard vs. Asians battle. The Asians won.
What happens when asians still get reduced entry. Then what will be the excuse? I just cannot imagine a university wanting a majority East Asian population on their campus. Whites will intentionally segregate

@mikethaison432 The policy of affirmative action dates to the Reconstruction Era in the United States, 1863-1877. Current policy was introduced in the early 1960s in the United States, as a way to combat racial discrimination in the hiring process, with the concept later expanded to address gender discrimination. See any hatred in that statement?
Anger? What college did you attend? They didn't teach you squat about history. Minorities, not just Blacks and Latinos(as), have been systemically and historically denied access to universities, especially the Ivy League. That's why there are HBCUs because we had to build our own universities to get a higher education. The inequality in the system starts at elementary school in public schools that are still segregated and underfunded. It's not anger to consider a students race for admissions. It's repairing a systemic problem that has existed for decades. Also, white women benefit the most from Affirmative Action programs. Also, there are white kids who get admitted because their parents and/or parents went to the University. Why aren't low-income Whites and Asians mad about that? It's because you can't scapegoat Black people for not getting in if you actually knew the truth, or understood why AA exists in the first place.
@@nunook5522 O I see my mistake. They were actually taking out their insecurities on asian and white kids for over 60 years. Thanks for clearing that up.

No one was taking anything out on White or Asian kids. Asians allowed Whites to use them as wedge puppets to get rid of something that tried to make the playing field level for everyone. Everyone who got in to a specific college or university earned their right to be there. The Asian young man was denied by at least 6 colleges/universities but it wasn't due to Black people somehow taking his place. He was not a well rounded student.

Great concept You have to EARN the opportunity not have it handed to you because of your race. Which was limiting opportunities for other’s races
Which was why Affirmative Action was put in place to begin with. Whites were not interested in having a level playing field and fixed the game for their children before anyone else's child could start playing. I don't hear anyone talking that hard about those Legacy admissions (overwhelmingly White). Those take away places from rightfully deserving students only because a child's parents or grands etc went to the school. A sub-set of Asians allowed themselves to be used as puppets by their White puppet masters but it still won't go well for them.
It was only limiting opportunities for one race: Asians.

good. I was rejected by Harvard despite being valedictorian and having amazing extracurriculars (international level sports, etc), yet I was accepted into the other 6 ivies I applied to (didnt apply to Dartmouth). however, my 4 black classmates who didnt have nearly as great stats at all were accepted and currently attending Harvard. while I cant prove that the only reason I was rejected was because of my race, I can say with strong confidence that Harvard admissions is rigged and the best of the best dont truly end up going to Harvard. I rlly strongly believe that Harvard is extremely overrated and other elite schools have better programs (I also dont want to discredit anyone who's going to Harvard because it still does take a lot of hard work to get in)
Consider you were rejected because there wasn't enough seats. You know hundreds of people apply to Harvard, stop it. Also, legacy students took your seat, there was a report that almost 30% of incoming freshman were legacy.

but I do 100% agree with the legacy admissions bc I had two friends with grandfathers on the board of trustees at Harvard who got in despite having around a 3.3-3.4 gpa. Im pretty sure theres a Supreme Court case about the legacy admissions at Harvard as well. also, had I gotten into Harvard, I wouldnt have attended bc my school is the best school for medicine (which is what im studying), and I have loads of opportunities here... not that I wouldn't have not gotten that at Harvard, but I feel like im happier at my school that I would've been at Harvard... so im not salty
@@chrisk2734false Harvard and other colleges even admit they decline non African Americans so they can meet the racist quotas
The world is full of complexities. Affirmative action is an attempt to rectify the disadvantages of groups of people who have suffered from intergenerational poverty and give them a chance at success. So yes, it means those who meet that criterion are favored, despite lower stats. Is it fair for you? No. Was it fair that you were likely born into a family with enough resources to support your ability to perform well academically, afford elite schools, etc. (not downplaying your hard work, making a point)? The answer may vary, depending on who you ask. Perhaps you don't come from a privileged family, but statistically, that would be less likely than the chance those people you assume were accepted based on race came from less privileged families. If you truly are, the "best of the best", you should have no issue killing it at any ELITE school of your choice, (a privilege most will never have in and of itself) though you may not be able to attend your first choice, sad to say. It is ultimately a sacrifice made for the greater good. And since Harvard doesn't appear to be your school of choice anyway, you are doing quite well. With this ruling, however, the same privileged people will continue to have advantages and share them with their children and so forth, which is unfortunately, nothing new.
So we should also remove "Legacy " (I believe is what it's called?)! Just because your parent(s) went to a particular college SHOULD NOT assure your acceptance!!!😮
**UPDATE ** Just read news feed that Dems are going after Legacy! If Supreme Court upholds Legacy that would definitely be a double standard! Each individual qualify on their own merits.
I disagree. I think if a parent worked very hard to get into a college, their children should be admitted at higher rates.

@dawidmalan8727 I appreciate what you're saying...but there is nothing practical about years of laws to help people being overturned in the workplace, colleges, schools, etc! If anything it may cause more segregation because blacks might possibly choose HBCUs rather than deal with this foolishness 🤔. More separation....but it appears that's what they're after! Just look at TN and the 80 some odd acres purchased by white nationalists and blacks and LGBT are not allowed! But it's all good! God will set things right on Judgement Day!

Universities will still do it anyways
Of course they will, but if they are caught it will ruin them.
@@patrickwalsh4615 - Evidence proves they will still do it anyways. California has voted a couple of times to not allow affirmative action in the decision making yet left wing ideology in academia still drives race as a major factor, there is no denying to see who gets into schools like UCLA with what qualifications. In CA they use factors like neighborhood demographics now and other factors. They are resourceful in coming up with ways to push oppression narratives in college admissions. California was also very quick to follow the University of Chicago in removing standardized test scores because that objective piece of information were "barriers". According the the University of Chicago, they now removed "barriers" to students who wouldn't have gotten in otherwise, meaning those not fitting the race stereotype were less likely to get in because college admissions to a particular school is zero sum (you give one to a student, you take one from another). They justified the removal of standardized exams by a paper that showed a low correlation on college success and exam scores yet ignored the other aspects that GPA was basically no better of an indicator and that there are correlations to scores and GPAs that would be in favor to keeping exam scores as a criteria. Again, race is the reason they got rid of the exam scores, not the correlation of success.

Who benefitted from Affirmative Action?
I think that in creating a diverse and multi-cultural college student population, it will be difficult to "appear" to ignor "race" since heritage and international backgrounds involve race and are critical AFTER academic standards are met. There are many other pressures on students and colleges outside this "race" issue. I attended a private university 1969-73 in the south California Bay Area. Remember the Silicon Valley craze was underway as well as the Vietnam War. The later took many of our generation's young males of age being killed or damaged for life who were unfortunately drafted with had no alternatives to carrying a rifle in the jungles so the military could refine jungle warfare tactics. Some benefited in their later careers from their experiences and learned skills. I did not have to face this military commitment decision, since I was on a deferment for engineering college and then a high lottery number. My university placed emphasis on the undergraduates with 4-5 colleges, including engineering where I was. The university's blended population included Chinese, Hispanics, India, kids from East Coast, kids from the Midwest, kids from West Coast, and kids from recent immigrant families worldwide. It was worthwhile to be exposed to multi-cultures outside the classroom along with the university graduation requirements for 3-4 liberal courses. In engineering we saw fewer political activism than other areas of the campus. We heard of the activism at Cal-Berkeley, Stanford, San Jose State college, and SF State college. But, even those students said it was not campus wide. It was dynamic times. Creating a blended or cosmopolitan student population helps to broaden young people's horizons for exposure to other countries or USA places. Once ALL applicants meet the college academic standards as well as extra-curricular involvement, the selection of applicants from multi-cultural backgrounds is a challenge. Since my university was Catholic, I imagine they wanted a reasonable number of Catholic students. I suggest that race and skin color are different criteria. For example, we have all have seen blond and red-haired caucasians from Mexico. It will be a challenge to create the impression that race is completely ignored when background and heritage looks like race. As long as the standards are uniform fair, void of favoritism or bias, and applicable to every applicant. Good luck.
There is nothing to gain from mingling with other races and people except the delusion of a pan human future free from war and conflict. People are irreconcilably different, stick to your own.

Affirmative action is defined as a set of procedures designed to; eliminate unlawful discrimination among applicants, remedy the results of such prior discrimination, and prevent such discrimination in the future. Applicants may be seeking admission to an educational program or looking for professional employment. In modern American jurisprudence, it typically imposes remedies against discrimination on the basis of (at the very least) race, creed, color, and national origin.
Picture wanting to be anti black so bad that you allowed your government to allow for discrimination in schools
@@A.D.907 affirmative action is discrimination. Thank God we don't have to be bothered with that anti-white policy anymore. ⚡⚡
I'm having a hard time finding people that are upset by this verdict. Let's keep working toward equality and figure out how to better the k-12 level as well. Teachers are working hard in a system that needs help.

You forget the vote was actually 7-3. Ginny gets to vote also.
My son could not get 8nto medical school even though he had perfect grades in high school and college out the ying yang and extra curricular crap, etc. bc he is white. Finally got in when he was almost 30. Go figure!!
I've got some bad news, pal. This ruling will make it more difficult for whites to get accepted to med school. It's going to be an Asian paradise.
you White People need to stand up, the World would be still in stone age if it wasn't for Whites.
Sorry to hear about the racism against white people
White people, specifically white women benefitted the most from Affirmative Action. If you think he didn't get in because he's white, you fail to see the real reason why he didn't get in. Grades can't make up for a crappy personality.
Is he now an attending physician?
Now when people don't get in they won't have this as a scapegoat anymore.
If they had a scapegoat, they're not good people... white women benefitted the most. Blaming any other group showed how racist they were

Finally, Martin Luther King Jr.’s wishes are being upheld in the color of one’s skin isn’t being taken into account
I won’t trust any state not to mess up the execution of this decision, regardless of the political leanings of the states.
Well no. For MLKJ he actually supported affirmative action, having voiced his support for programs which used the practice as a response to discrimination.
I actually am not against the ruling, but we need to stop misappropriating MLKJ to support our own beliefs. It is disrespectful to his memory while also not being a good argument in general.
Keep in mind the era MLKJ lived in.
Nope, Martin Luther King Jr 's wishes aren't being upheld, dumaz
Racist whites love to quote MLK out of context. I do agree that he integrated us into a burning house and Black ppl should go to HBCUs. I'm sure all white and asians schools will still thrive without our talents lol.
He also wanted guaranteed income and federal job programs but I don’t see conservatives so supportive of those ideas
YES.....YES and YES..finally something to Feel Good about!!!!!
Great news to hear!
Yes, now the Asian students will even begin to shove aside white students....our universities will be filled with only Asian students who are good at taking tests...so so cool.

Picture being so anti black that you are glad we can now discriminate 😂 we have black colleges and universities that we want immigrants and people who aren't black at and now we can have that based on this 🤷♂️
They'll figure this one out. There are other qualifying factors that black and brown people possess that will justify granting them admission such as income , geographically destress areas, giving more weight to first generation admission to a university. Variables are Variables that are meant to message for an institution's intent.
Distressed areas gets less preference. Students in the wealthy New England area has historically higher admissions.
If you want to get to good school, study hard to get high scores. Period for everyone.

Give an advantage based on household income rather than ethnicity.
Now don’t be too reasonable
Legacy admissions !== racial discrimination
They are wrong but not the same thing.
How’s that? Blacks are admitted by legacy too. discrimination against whites and Asians is racism, pure and simple.
W Supreme court
What wrong with that ? Whoever scores high then they will get to colleges.
What? So you actually have to have good academics to get into these school?
Sorry "victims"....
White women benefited the most with AA.
Thank you!!!! You're the only person I've seen make this very factual statement. I see a lot of people blaming black and brown people, which shows their own racism.
We hav had affirmative action for decades and decades and it hasn't helped time to stop it!!
Just say you've never done research on this subject. It's easier.
@@erauprcwa It appears that you haven't done anything...ha ha ha
MERIT BASED.
Stop telling black people they need special help. Its racist and disgusting.

Does that mean that admissions will now be prioritized by testing?
Nope, testing isn’t required.

I'm so thrilled about this. Affirmative action is why we have people like London Breed in office with San Francisco crumbling around her ears and she can't understand why.
Blame that on Liberal Whites. They are the problem, not the Blacks.
If your GPA and work ethic was actually considered affirmative action would have never existed.
Do you know why Affirmative Action started?
Now let's stop legacy admissions...

It should be limited it should be eliminated

White people in large benefit from welfare
Now get rid of DEI 😊
Who benefitted from Affirmative Action?
Welp, if you can afford SAT prep and other outside programs for academic support, have a stay at home parent, and a legacy parent that went to a prestigious school, you are in good shape and this really won’t affect you.
It’s really not that simple. It depends on an individual child and their own motivation. A lot of kids I know like this actually weren’t as motivated as someone who came from say a lower socioeconomic background and didn’t have those luxuries. Motivation sometimes not always trumps being able to “afford” something. That being said, yes a lot of kids in this situation might be at an advantage - hence why we need to invest more in public schools.
There is no way this is actually your logic
Dumb kids don't deserve high merit slots
Even unmotivated people with privilege will end up in college
Most Asians don’t have any of this and they can still get high grades. They simply work hard and be disciplined.
Thank you President Trump for appointing some great Judges.
His judgesSUCK!!!!!
Stop spinning. They just upheld the constitution, which is their job. You can't discriminate on race, color, or creed.
I'm just waiting to hear what Elizabeth Warren has to say. 😂
Particularly as a woman of color.
BRAVO!
No quotas!!!!!!!
Schools are funded with budget from that city and county.
So if you live in Beverly Hill, school can have pool, air conditioning, etc
If you live in Compton, school can't even fix broken window.
State must distribute all school funds EQUALLY to each school.
So all students have opportunity to apply to college.
This is a complex problem. Yes we don’t want kids to be put aside in terms of college admissions based on their race but on the flip side we have an issue of fair/equal education in K-12. Most private/public schools with good facilities have less diverse student bodies. The problem with this is that these schools put a huge amount of emphasis on tutors, test prep for college exams, and much more. Making the chances of getting into a college easier. It’s not exactly fair when the school next door has more children of color and their parents make a lower income which means: unable to afford private schools, or the public schools do not get the same amount of funding which means less preparation efforts for college and more of a focus on just getting the child through school. If funding for all public schools were equal then I feel like this wouldn’t be an issue but we have too many disparities in the education system.
Maybe poor people will CHOOSE to do well, CHOOSE to not do crime, CHOOSE to better themselves, like we all have to do, no matter what color you are.
Affirmative action it is a program that favors rich Black and Hispanic kids not poor that you are talking about!
You need to have a conversation with black, Conservative Americans, try to have that conversation with them and they will tell you the truth. You might really learn something.
you dont have a right to private schools their selfunded
@@plau2007 Yeah no dip Sherlock that’s why they banned “Race Based Affirmative Action” we need to put aside race and look at socioeconomic factors.
No affirmative action for higher education but gerrymandering voting districts is just fine? Make it make sense. 😂
Okay, ill go next. No affirmative action for higher education but drag shows for kids is just fine? You might be wondering what one has to do with the other. You would be correct.
They just struck down two gerrymandering cases in Louisiana and Alabama. Also the woke crowd conveniently ignores AA when Blacks are the majority such as in the universities' athletics department😂😂😂😂
Cope child groomer. You'll meet your destiny in the streets soon enough
Non-sequitur. These two issues have literally nothing to do with each other. Gerrymandering existing has nothing to do with and doesn't justify literal institutional racism in favor of certain races.

Okay Howard, Hampton, Morehouse, Spellman and others, time to step up.
In college I wrote a paper on the mindset of a nation in 1965 and the need for affirmative action to protect people ignored by the common hate that prevailed. Today we have different attitudes. But, if we would have just desegregated when it was on the table we would be having a different narrative.
Today there is still a "common hate that prevails". They just shifted the focus. Now the common hate is against whites.
So you were part of the problem..... got it 👍

What an amazing Court President Trump has given the nation.
In spite of the Biden stain.
Absolutely! I am voting for him!
Finally some sanity!
It (AA) did not benefit Black people, but it benefits everyone else more! This will backfire for the racist people who sued to target Black students.

What is your dear leader from Tromp University get as brain peanut
Why does michelle obama say that people are going to work harder than they should have to? That was already the case under affirmative action for anyone not black or hispanic. I believe in affirmative action but it should be based on socioeconomic status, not ethnicity.
Ok and if you base it on social economic status than that will hurt people of color more due to the built up systemic racism that has existed where most of our communities have been underfunded meaning our schools aren't as good as those in white areas which in turn mean we don't get the same quality of education and than we have lower score that even though they may be passing you will have good schools deny us admittance making it harder for us to get an even better education that can afford us better opportunities
Who benefitted from Affirmative Action? Because you statement about "...anyone not black or hispanic." is grossly inaccurate and shows the ignorance on the subject matter.
Once again the greatest president of this generation strikes again. Trump 2024
What is wrong with meritocracy? Zero .
I haven't seen the looney left this mad since we ended slavery in the U.S. , smh. 😏 🤡
Uh, the "left" is who actually ended slavery, per political paradigms. Do not confuse the "left" or "right" with political party, which is independent of ideology. In the 1800s the 'liberals' were the Republicans and the 'conservatives' were the Democrats. Said party ideology flipped around the 1960s and into the 1970s with the use of the Southern Strategy and the fact many Democrats like JFK and LBJ threw support to the Civil Rights Act, leading southern Democrats to be courted by the Republican party.
The Republican party of today would NOT have been in favor of Emancipation, that's just a political fact.
GOOD!!
