My wife knew Todd Snider way back when he bused tables when he was a kid in Texas... I never heard of him until I met my wife... For my birthday she treated me to a Todd Snider/Otis Gibbs show in Geneva Ny this year.. WOW !!!!!! FANTASTIC show !!!!! Both put on a GREAT show...
I met Todd before I knew Todd. Then I discovered Todd and have been a fan ever since. 100% great story teller and down to earth person. Here's a favorite - May you always play your music Loud enough to wake up all o' your neighbors May you play at least loud enough To always wake yourself up Thanks Todd
I was fortunate enough to catch Otis opening for Todd last Saturday, in Grand Rapids MI @ "The Intersection" and it was absolutely stellar! Much love, Otis! Todd Snider Rules ☮️❤️🅰️
Todd is carrying on a tradition going back to Woody Dylan Prine. He is an American treasure and one hell of a song writer. Prolific. Thanks for my Sat morning wake up talk, Otis. Hoping you might get out west sometime.
Born in Rochester, New York, and left as soon as I lost an opportunity to run away to a circus or when I was18 years old. Eastman Kodak and Xerox began in Rochester. Names not mentioned who had lived in Rochester were Son House and Emma Goldman. As alway I have enjoyed your visits; it is an updated Ramblin’ Otis Gibbs. 👍
So glad you enjoyed your tour. Really appreciate you taking us along on Patreon, and thanks to Todd et al for the great photo. That guy knows so many songs from other artists, besides his own. Hope you decide to come to Nova Scotia some time.
Thee Todd Snider episode of TFGAD Podcast is one of my favorites. It is rare to find a interview that is so authentic and real. Lot's of podcasters try to encourage their guest to drink or partake in other recreational products to get the guest to open up....not many people call and book 2am Tuesday appointments 😀
Todd’s weekly streams Live from the Purple Building were really great through the last couple of years. His show (and other covers and talks about JJW) about Jerry Jeff Walker right after he passed was incredible. So informative and you could feel the love for JJW dripping from him. Thanks for helping me find Todd (I had seen photos and ads for him years ago, but never heard anything until after you posted the John Prine on mushrooms chat. That reminds me, taking mushrooms with Todd is on my bucket list.
Welcome back "Road Warrior" ~ Glad to hear it was a positive experience. The reports from the road & grave yard stop were interesting snap.shots of your trip - thank you Otis
Thank you, Otis 🙏 Glad you made it back safe and sound, and hopefully no worse for the wear. Appreciate the stories and insights to life on the road. I hope to see you live in concert at some point, as well as Todd Snider and a host of others. Be good to you 🤍
Thanks so much Otis for another amazing Saturday chat ...Todd Snider is one of the most underrated singer/songwriters around. His song," Can't Complain" is so very good...Todd simply sings Truth. I can only imagine the interesting gigs you shared with him...blessings on you both from this old singer/songwriter from the foothills of Mt. Rainier in Washington State. Much love...
Was really happy when I found out you were opening Todd's show in Ithaca, and even happier after seeing your set. Any night someone gives the crowd some Sputnik Monroe knowledge and a better appreciation for pro wrestling is a good night! Thanks for doing what you do, Otis!
I love the story about John Prine, Todd and others being tired as hell from flying to Ireland (I think it was Ireland) and the young driver heads the wrong direction. John politely pointed out that he thought he might be headed the wrong direction. After about an hour the driver realized he had gone the wrong way and waste 2 more hours of these guys time. John didn’t take it out on the kid. He was just kind and understanding. Todd is a great ambassador for great songwriters. He’s one himself. Be well Otis
Awesome. Todd is an absolute Champion, and I have you to thank for introducing me to his music. So Thankyou Otis love what you do man. Cheers from Australia
I really love your story telling Otis. I haven’t heard Todd’s skills yet, but don’t under estimate your own talent. I especially love how you always remain positive and try to put your best foot forward in all you do. And figuring out how to live best and do what you love-well, that’s a journey we might all be on. My music life, after 40 years a working percussionist (and an architect by day), changed quite a bit when I moved to Japan in 2015. I hope I can re-establish myself here and work with more talent, because after all, I am just a drummer. Keep up the good work my friend!
I saw the show in Ithaca, great night. Also, to your point about small towns in Upstate NY, I bought an old 1840s farm house about 15 miles down the road from that church in Lisle. Life is good. You are welcome to stop by anytime for a cup of coffee.
Wish I could have gone to one of your shows, but the closest location was still pretty far away. Either way, I'm glad it went good, and I'm always happy to hear about your experiences on the road! To answer your question about "cramming as much life into life as possible," this is also something I've thought about before, and my main advice and what I say is the most lifeful day is when you have lots of variety. To me, the best kind of day is one with some shopping, some driving, and some time with family and friends. Keep up the great work Otis!
I was so thrilled to see Todd in Ithaca on this tour. It was a last minute decision, as I had purchased tickets for 5 other shows since September, but covid restrictions & work demands made it challenging to travel. It was amazing to see him again, but I was totally enamored with your set! So grateful to Todd for introducing me to your music!
"I'm not Retro, I'm just old" I love it man. I am using that line tonight at my open mic gig. Aren't you glad you have graduated beyond the open mic circuit? LOL, paying my dues, just wish they would start paying back, lol. I'm loving this video Otis. You are a great soul. Would like to be a part of that retirement community!
id give about anything to see the good Rev Todd Snider (which Im about to in a few weeks in Nueva Mexico) and may even get to chat with him for my little communtiy radio show....but to see Todd AND BRother Otis wheeeew! luckyeeee....
Hi Otis! We met and spoke after a Todd show...I want to say The City Winery in Philly? I loved your set, your CD, and this video. I love Todd, he is my Jerry Jeff, in that he inspired me to perform in public. What he was doing was such fun, I wanted to do it too! And through him I have come to know great songwriters like you. I wish I lived in East Nashville. I would love to be a part of that musical community. Peace brother!
what strikes me about the good rev todd is, as you say his self effacing humble good spirited humour joy and storytelloing, and also id add his exuberant but reasonable sincerity....and honesty
Otis, too bad you weren't on the road a month earlier. Would've loved to have seen you with Todd in Minnesota back in March. I've listened to his JJW tribute about ten times. So good!
Amazing Otis ! What Great experience. Snider is a gem … love his stories … I read his book, “never met a story I didn’t like”, many times - as a low key small town singer song writer trying to get around - I always pick that book up when I’m feeling like this thing you do /what Todd does / and what I try to do more as my sole living … when it get’s me down - that book aways reinvigorates my desire to keep chopping at the bit. Those Stories …. I be been working hard and steeling snider’s 60% story & comedy / 40% songs approach as a solo acoustic act and it definitely entertains and works much better than flying through big set lists at record speed with no talk/laughs …. Anyway great stuff! Keep on keeping on !
I was at the Rochester show at Anthology and you were awesome! I came to see Todd and didn’t know who was opening so imagine my surprise when you came out. You were like an extra gift and the crowd really seemed to appreciate you. Then you came out during Todd’s set and stood along the wall right next to my seat. Todd was fantastic as usual so between the two of you I was so glad y’all came to Upstate NY. Looking forward to the next time either of you come back to the area.
I absolutely love Todd Snider and I've seen him several times, one very memorable performance when he opened for JP at Greensboro War Memorial Auditorium in 2001.
I was one of those that bought a CD at the Vogue and listening to it always puts a smile on my face. I've seen Todd solo, with the Wrecks, with guys from Yonder and Leftover Salmon and everything in between. Caught him at Buskirk Chumley on this tour and will be at his show in the Caverns. He NEVER disappoints. Ready to catch another one of your shows, hopefully at the HiFi or the Annex.
I saw Todd Snider a while back talking of the time they thought he was a homeless guy and fed him at a local church or something. Then I'm listening to you tell about laundry day in Up-State New York and picture Todd washing his rag tag outfit. Priceless! Thanks for the stories. I always cover Train Song at the local Brew Pub where they let me play. Keep doing what you are doing Otis, it's fun! Burlington Bill singer songwriter busking from home and on the road.
Loved the vid, Otis. "Live Todd" is/was an incredible force of nature experience. Seen him a few times in various solo/band configurations. Going to see Todd Snider, Hayes Carll, & The Band of Heathens on Oct. 14, '23 in Luckenbach, TX. Hope to see you there in Jerry Jeff's old recording grounds.
Just found this clip today on my feed but seen Todd a few times and was at one of the Massachusetts shows with you opening, think it was western mass not Boston. Was a great set, always love to see anyone Todd brings along for his gigs.
Love these weekend hangouts, Otis - thank you. Also, next time you're in Glenwood Springs, CO, try the 19th St. Diner. I had a very similar experience to your Owl Diner one, there last Nov. while passing through. It wasn't as cheap as the Northern Ontario diners that catered to loggers and truckers in my youth (with perogies for breakfast - sooo good!), but damn, the food was SO GOOD. My wife said that she had the best french toast ever!
Seeing y’all at Knuckleheads Oct. 28. Happened to be visiting sister in KC, checked knuckleheads calendar and was pleased to see the show posted just now. Got 3 tickets. Since I watch you everyday with morning coffee, we are fast friends now, and I expect to say hello. Visiting from Huntsville, AL. Take care and see you soon.
I saw him live this past December at Gruene Hall. You are so right! My face hurt from smiling. I love him. Wish you had been touring with him during that show!
Saw his show in Portland, OR. He was amazing as usual. I’ll never get tired of him. Generational chain of succession, the way I see it: Carter Family -> Johnny Cash -> Kris Kristofferson -> John Prine -> Todd Snider -> Benjamin Tod -> ?. of course, your chain may differ.
I saw you and Todd in Philly. Great show. Didn't know you were opening for Todd until you walked on stage. Great surprise since I was wanting to see you for a while. Thanks again to you and Todd for being such great entertainers.
Saw you guys in Philly a couple Friday nights ago, and it was a totally wonderful night of stories and songs from you both. Your story before “Sputnik Monroe” and the song itself was just one of many highlights. Thanks for all your work!
Yeah! FOUR SISTERS OWL DINER in Lowell, MA is a great spot for breakfast or lunch (only open 7am til 1pm every day). Just enjoyed a breakfast there earlier this month. Happy it’s going strong and glad you went there and liked it too!
Sounds like a time - thanks for taking us along. Glad you enjoyed Rochester. A lot of my Mom’s family is keeping Frederick and Susan company at Mt. Hope.
Saw you in Boston and Holyoke ! It was a real treat to hear you play, and to have a chance to say hello. Looking forward to many more shows , with Todd or without.
I have seen Todd several times starting back when he was touring with the "Nervous Wrecks" its always a fun time great music great stories. I was hoping your recent tour was going to come to Ann Arbor to play at "The Ark" maybe next time.
Love me some Todd. Seen him out here in Central Coast of California in Oct. of 2021 & '22. Also, the recording you put up on here was typical Todd, bat shit funny. Thanks friend.
Only just started watching your videos on UA-cam today and loving them. Anyone who manages to mention Todd Snider and Jack Kerouac catches my attention. I’m from Ireland but visited the US as a student in the summer of 1982, I’d read lots of Kerouac and one of my favourites was Maggie Cassidy, set in Lowell. I had to visit and see the grave. Now that you’ve mentioned it I think after 40 years a return visit is due, must remember to take breakfast at the Owl Diner. Also loved your Shawn Camp interview about Guy Clark my favourite song writer. 👍
Otis - I have YOU to thank for turning me on to Todd Snider!!! Saw him last night at Ashland Theater. Sold Out 🤩Standing ovations!!! He was so wonderful 💕. Get him to tell you about the “handsome man on the bike” 🤪🤣
Otis! I just saw you're on tour with him. Im going to the Eau Claire show. Im so excited, seriously the best lineup ever. I dropped everything for this. You both are my biggest inspirations! Wow!
Rochester, NY is a beautiful city. The reason people don’t move upstate is most of the towns have no work or very limited, though during the pandemic a lot of people did leave NYC for smaller towns upstate, however, all the opportunities are in the city.
Cant wait to watch The Two Todd Tour!! I still laugh when I think about his Mushroom Interview😂 Lemme know when you get that 'Retirement town'.... awesome plan. Sort of 'Alice's Restaurant meets Luckenbach'
and the drive around philly or boston or any east coast urban area which couldtake an hour or two taking twice to thrice as long is ocmon i once got stuck in both DC and Baltimroe beltway traffic making a less than 3 hour ride which starts lovely in central goregous farm country Vriginia back up to Baltimroe take over 7 hours...dont miss that lifestyle one bit....
from Wiki Lisle seems to be a very small town outside Binghamton. Not sure what there is to do there but people have moved from the city to NY State in droves. Look at real estate prices in Ulster County NY and see what $100K gets you. Not a whole lot. Thanks and hope to see you some time. Quick facts Lisle is a village in Broome County, New York, United States. The population was 320 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was named after a community in France. The village of Lisle is in the southeast part of the town of Lisle and is north of Binghamton. Wikipedia
Otis, glad to hear that you had a great time on the road, and all went well. There is The Owl Café in Albuquerque, as well. It it one of the landmark cafes there and they have great breakfast as well, real cool joint. If you are ever passing thru, you should stop and check it out!
I've been listening to Todd for about the last 10 years. I'm going to get to see him live and Little Rock pretty soon. It would be cooler if you were there to Otis

I’ve been to probably over 50 Todd Snider shows at this point. It never gets old. Todd and Otis on the same bill must have been amazing!
Todd's shows are great would love to see Otis w him !

Music for the soul. @markkirkpatrick9150
Todd is carrying on a tradition going back to Woody Dylan Prine. He is an American treasure and one hell of a song writer. Prolific. Thanks for my Sat morning wake up talk, Otis. Hoping you might get out west sometime.
Here's that recording of Todd on my couch in East Nashville.
Born in Rochester, New York, and left as soon as I lost an opportunity to run away to a circus or when I was18 years old.
Eastman Kodak and Xerox began in Rochester. Names not mentioned who had lived in Rochester were Son House and Emma Goldman.

Appreciate the stories and insights to life on the road. I hope to see you live in concert at some point, as well as Todd Snider and a host of others.
Be good to you 🤍
Great to see you back on Saturdays ✌️😎 loving all the great stories
Todd has a lot of what John Prine had. Always a great show. I go see him every time he comes to town.

Glad you had a good trip and tour Otis.
I bought Todd’s albums from oh boy records. Love the guy. First heard him on Bob and Tom also back in the day.
Todd is so great! First discovered him in the 90's, along with Freedy Johnston.
I played for Todd's crowd once myself. Most appreciative people.
Awesome. Todd is an absolute Champion, and I have you to thank for introducing me to his music. So Thankyou Otis love what you do man. Cheers from Australia
Welcome back Otis! Our band always try to do some Todd Snyder during the night. Easy money is one of my favorites.
Thanks for another morning coffee-cast. Lookin forward to receiving your music & Miss Amy’s print.
And Kevin Gordon was awesome too - he got a standing ovation too . And as your barometer said … the merch table was packed
I really love your story telling Otis. I haven’t heard Todd’s skills yet, but don’t under estimate your own talent. I especially love how you always remain positive and try to put your best foot forward in all you do. And figuring out how to live best and do what you love-well, that’s a journey we might all be on. I was so thrilled to see Todd in Ithaca on this tour. Driving in Boston is a nightmare. I drove into Boston last year to see Jason Isbell. It was worth it, but definitly taking the train in next time 👍
I admire your optimism for humanity. You seem like a very nice, down to earth person. I enjoy your content. Thank You.
Yes, Todd was great to hear live

Wish you had been touring with him during that show!
Saw his show in Portland, OR. He was amazing as usual. I’ll never get tired of him.
Generational chain of succession, the way I see it:
Carter Family -> Johnny Cash -> Kris Kristofferson -> John Prine -> Todd Snider -> Benjamin Tod -> ?.
of course, your chain may differ.
I was able to see you two in Madison wi at the Barrymore.. excellent show. Thank you
Being from MA./NE ....I LOVED hearing about your trip there.

Rochester, NY is a beautiful city. The reason people don’t move upstate is most of the towns have no work or very limited, though during the pandemic a lot of people did leave NYC for smaller towns upstate, however, all the opportunities are in the city.
PLEASE come with him to VA this fall! We’ll be there and would love to see you
The Owl Diner in Lowell. My cousin Stephanie works there.
He had a great show in Iowa City on Wednesday 11/2!
I have felt good about Todd since he was with a bunch of nervous wrecks.
Cant wait to watch The Two Todd Tour!! I still laugh when I think about his Mushroom Interview😂
Lemme know when you get that 'Retirement town'.... awesome plan.
Quick facts
Lisle is a village in Broome County, New York, United States. The population was 320 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Binghamton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Like the pickers retirement home idea, also " On the Road" at home is gonna make me ponder. Thanks Otis
Chico
Otis, glad to hear that you had a great time on the road, and all went well. There is The Owl Café in Albuquerque, as well. It it one of the landmark cafes there and they have great breakfast as well, real cool joint. If you are ever passing thru, you should stop and check it out!
I've been listening to Todd for about the last 10 years. I'm going to get to see him live and Little Rock pretty soon. It would be cooler if you were there to Otis
Loved the show in Philly @ City Winery
