- The Antonov AN- 74 with registration RA-74006 visited Bern Airport in June 2015. The transport aircraft was produced in 1992. What a rare and exotic aircraft - my heart jumped with joy! The huge engines above the wings give the impression of oversized ears. That is why the weird looking aircraft was nicknamed Cheburashka after a very popular cartoon character with oversized ears.

I absolutely wondered what this was for a month... the overhead engines..Antinov makes such beautiful aircraft. I found this video. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated!
Very Pro looking Video ! I haven't Really paid too much attention to the Civilian Aircraft. That Plane Sure looks Unique!! Great Job !
Thank you so much for your kind words about the video! It's always exciting to learn about new and unique aircraft designs, and I'm glad that I was able to showcase this one in the video. Thanks again for watching and for your positive feedback!
It's a neat plane, love the blown wing design! Great camera angle! You caught a brief flash of flame in the jet pipe of the #2 engine as he rolled out and firewall'ed the throttles! You can see a light flash from the core jetpipe back inside the center area of the bypass air duct. Probably just a little flame instability as the percent rpm came up but nothing to worry about.
One of my favorite Antonov designs!
I am sorry, i am not fluent in your language

I'd love to see one of these in flight live, there was one parked up at Vilnius airport one time when I was there, but that was in the days before everybody had cameras!
I love the cow bells in the background. ^-^

+Trevor Ledgeway Thank you very much Trevor!
Those wings bending down are typically Antonov.
Nice catch matt, haven't heard or seen any new videos or anything from you recently, hope you are doing well, i still pray for the healing of your lungs situation, on an aviation note, mentioned to you that i had been out of commercial aviation industry for appx. 30 years in the domestic U.S. and was curious about this aircraft that i'm not very familiar with. I have seen several videos of this plane and it seems they are strong on the wing over with jet engines or turbo props(i believe) mounted close/ risen on the wings, you probably know, do they manufacture an aquatic plane with turbo props in this design configuration with pontoon landing gear or with dual aquatic/land gear, if so i'm guessing would be a turbo prop, and where is this plane manufactured/ produced ? Russia ? Or where

Antonov is Ukrainian planes, now only there they are made!
@@audio-tech-fil2287 ty for the info, they are a very interesting design.
I must say, this is one funny looking plane.

CrAzY Looking jet!

Super top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Der ideale Frachter für Bern
Is there less engine noise inside the passenger cabin ?
Beatiful plane
Very long take off....is it a heavy plane?
Wow, sehr cool! ;-)
I am sorry, i am not fluent in your language
@@DRAAT i am sorry, but i am not fluent in the language you are using.

Welke Rare Antonov AN-74 RA-74006 Take of at........
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. This is the Ukrainian Antonov.
Thank you. I have just corrected it.
Why are the engines mounted so high?
USS ENTERPRISE To increase lift power using coanda effect. It was designed for short runways.
It's for use on unpaved runways. This plane was designed for it
Mickey mouse called......he wants his ears back
Buitiful ✈
Thanks
Nice catch! Subbed to you :)
Ukrainian aircraft always the best!

Why does it have the engines above the wings? I sure doesn't have short field capability. Check out the QSRA demo flight at Ames: ua-cam.com/video/_4QiW-ROJtg/v-deo.html

GREAT catch! I love the design of this plane too! I wonder if this one belongs to the Russian Government? I didn't notice any markings on it, except for the Russian flag on the tail.
produced in 1992 in the Soviet Union?....The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991,Ukrainian super airplanе!!
Made in Ukraine.
It was super cool to see this aircraft at Bern!

Thanks for watching. I will check out your channel.
Russian aircraft always the best
And Klitchko brothers are russian boxers ha-ha :)
You are an ignoramus man. While Ukraine had made An-74, An-132, An-148, An-178 airplanes since 2000's Russia had made none!
Junk and ugly No one want to buy it
Leave it to the Russians to spend untold resources developing a strange, impractical design that won't ever come close to selling enough units to cover the development costs

Antonov is Ukrainian planes, now only there they are made!
Not russian... Soviet and after ukrainian antonov it's ukrainian aircrafts
