Of all the shapes and features that are incorporated into architecture, domes are some of the grandest of all. Having been used since pre-history thanks to their relatively simple form, their shape means that they are able to support their own weight and, in theory, there's no limit to how big they can be. In practice, though, there are limitations to their size… mainly due to the cost of the materials… but this hasn't stopped a number of giant ones from being built around the world. From places of worship, to sports stadia and music venues, it's time to visit the 15 largest domes in the world.
