That was fun to watch. I bought a Retina Ib in 1999 and it became my favourite camera, so I had a brass plate engraved with my name and year that I riveted on the bottom of the case. Then one Christmas the shutter refused to cock. You thought it might have been the cocking rack and this must have been before you made a business out of fixing Retinas, because you said I could just send it to you for a look. I did, and it was just a small problem with the cocking rack, so you straigtened the teeth. As a bonus you even cleaned the shutter! The camera has functioned perfectly since then. Just in case, I bought two cocking racks from eBay, and bought some more Retinas. Very nice cameras. Greetings from Sweden!

Thanks for the video. Im looking at trying to repair a Retina as a bit of a hobby and your content is greatly helpful!

Hey Chris, I have a retinette IB my dad gave me and I’d love to get it working. I noticed straight away that once it was cocked then nothing happened when I pressed the shutter release. With the back open I could see the shutter didn’t open when I advanced the arm. After messing around with it the shutter now opens as I advance the arm but closes again as I let go of it. Do you know what the problem is?

It clicks like it’s cocked but when I press the shutter release nothing happens, it sounds like a very weak click but as I say the shutter doesn’t fire.

The shutter needs to be serviced I'd say.
