The goal of this living room makeover is to create a room that functions as a work space for Heather and doubles as a playroom for the kids. What's IKEA Home Tour? We'll tell you! We're sending a team of IKEA experts on the road to help America solve real home furnishing challenges, big and small, and transform their living spaces. The Home Tour Squad is hitting the road to assist those who need help with home projects -- from closet organization to living room style upgrades to bedroom makeovers -- and to illustrate genuine solutions that make everyday life at home better. The Home Tour Squad will come up with a plan and go shopping for the furnishings and accessories needed at the local IKEA store. The homeowners and the Squad members will then accomplish the transformation together! Plus, the Squad will film their journey along the way.
The IKEA Home Tour Squad is a team of hand-selected IKEA experts from across the country. They specialize in everything from home design to organization to sustainability at home. Each Squad member comes from a different background and contributes their unique expertise to help homeowners on the tour. Their journey will be chronicled through before/after makeover videos, tour footage, and video shorts featuring design tips and interviews with homeowners. Squad members will also be sharing live updates from the tour via Twitter (@IKEAUSA) and Instagram (@IKEAUSA) with the hashtag #IKEAHomeTour.

The couple needed that makeover! the look tired,the kids are a handful and are sucking their parents energy.Great job ikea!! by the way my home is mostly ikea decor..its my number one store to buy. ;-)
Very attractive. I liked the use of the high cabinets. They were unobtrusive, but surely held a lot. That green chair made a happy pop of color.
This is one of the best ikea makeovers, not sure I'd call it a "small space " but its nice nonetheless... I wish they did ikea room makeovers in the UK or offered it as a service!
This is one of my favourite IKEA Home Tour makeovers, and I've visited it several times over the past couple of years. I bought the Söderhamn sofa two-seat version without arms, and piled on IKEA cushions in lime green cotton (Gurli) and also the lovely grey rami (great texture), plus an orange cotton one I already I had (with an IKEA filling as they're softer). The whole thing is so comfy! My rental apartment came with a lime green feature wall, so this sofa looks fabulous in front of that! Thanks, IKEA!

I like that this episode has a nice big wide shot that shows the arrangement of the whole room. Some of the later episodes don't have that and I really miss a wide shot or at least a diagram of the floor plan to see the full arrangement.

Dunno about that cabinet over the couch. Not sure I would feel comfortable sitting on the couch with probably a hundred pounds of cabinet floating on the wall 3 feet over my head..
BESTA is a modular system that is made for that reason. Besides have you ever seen a kitchen cabinet falling on your head if well mounted?

Looks very nice, but is it small kid practical???...kids in general thrash a place quick...thrift store furniture until kids are alittle older...nice stuff will just get stained or damaged.

Why didnt they work in a kids play table?
The family sound like a bunch of people who dont care about their surroundings whatsoever! the fact that the kids just do what they want is a sign. The sofas they inherited ( cos they were free ) only needed a makeover with new covers . the design was fine . I agree with the rest under my comments, choose people who REALLY need a makeover , these guys didnt!

Nice makeover. However, parents need to take control of the little ones and not permit them to jump all over the furniture. Common parents teach the kiddies how to play safely in a confined space.

Now when the kids jump on it, there is the possibility that the sofa will slide away and the will fall on the floor and get a hole in the head...
The Söderhamn is a really heavy sofa. The frame is solid wood and it's actually difficult to move. The seats are low and great for kids to play on as they're 93cm square! Two seats together (or the double) are the size of a single bed. It's a great playground for little kids, much safer than on a hard floor. It has a 10-year warranty, so it's built to last. I have the two-seat version in this grey. I love it! Kids in apartments need to play, it's their nature. PLUS, they had new visitors in the before-scenes, and they were excited about the new furniture they'd never experienced before in the after-scenes. The whole point of the exercise was to accommodate the kids and give them a great play space plus space for the parents.
These people need help? Jeez.

LOL All I'm saying is that in a tiny apartment with 2 young children, it's not as easy to control what happens on the furniture as you say and doesn't mean that they can't control their kids at all, so get off your friggin high horse. And if YOU can't accept criticism then YOU shouldn't post.
