Thanks for reviewing swapmod ☺👏, I'm very happy to see you liked it and definitely agree to you feedback on improvement. Guidance will be reworked next days and I will add a voice-over. There will be also a video showing usable tips and tricks about swapmod and there will be a collection of upgrades, extensions and remixes on MakerWorld which are compatible with swapmod. I actually also designed a handle which is compatible 😅because I have had same issue with mine.
Hey Andre, thanks so much for really being active in the community. Looking forward to all that's to come and especially the extensions and upgrades. Haha really love that you already made a new handle :)
Hey Andre :) So having the gcode available as customer is agreat Idea as Arne stated. But tbf i'd be happy with an offline version of the gcode converter website. :)
@@Arne.Bornheim I'll sadly have to stop doing my Etsy stuff starting next year. But that is a whole different story which is more related to taxes and time prioritising on my end 😅
This mod is the reason I got a1m in the first place - I wanted to have an option to make multiple medium sized details without me doing anything. Glad to see it's happening.
You should do like a " slide" for your completed buildplates, so they don't just 'drop' in the bin. and you get like a queue of printed plates. Size of slide is number of buildplates in your Swapmod magazine.
Yeah with the handle I went stock for the video as the height of the handle also has to be perfect for swapmod to work since it attaches there. I didn't want to end up saying it's not working properly and it's just that mod. Andre the maker of swapmod has since send me the files for a handle he made that is compatible 😊 ( I don't think it's public yet but it might be eventually)
Hi Arne. What was that little step you did at 4m50s where you seemed to fill the build plate with models in one click. Was that within Bambu’s slicer? Great video and thank you.
Thanks so much! When I talked to Andre the founder from swapmod he said he started with the a1 mini because it released first and he had already started work on it when the a1 came out. So maybe a version for the a1 could come eventually
Okay THAT is cool! Just got my A1 mini a few weeks ago, so I will definitely be considering this. At the improvement ideas -portion I was thinking about the possibility to switch plates and start a new one remotely after a failed print that you notice from the camera or the A1 mini stops by itself, but yeah having a separate print profile would achieve that pretty easily I reckon.
Happy you like it ! 😊 interesting idea. Happily I didn't have any failed prints with the system so far so I have no experience how to handle it specifially
When it’s released you will be able to get it in America I believe it’s march 2025 or around that as the website for it has just been released to pre order
Ive been in the thread where the idea first started and i can say, these are really smart people! But since then, I haven't been able to find a way without making a gantry robot to auto clear / bed swap on a p1s or x1 printer lol. Still tho this video is the best review of it and cant wait to order my own!
That's cool that you were there when the idea started :) ! Yeah I would love automatization for the x1c / p1s. And as much as I wanna have a robot arm i assume it would be a bit more than 70$ and slightly out of my budget 😉 Really happy you liked the video 😊
@@Arne.Bornheim yeah I’ve spent about $2200 on prototyping a robot gantry to auto swap beds on a 3x p1s rack!😂 (That’s how I found the thread in the first place) And WOW tolerances are annoying!! But it’s still a work in progress. I’m really happy he was able to bring it to market and I love the purely mechanical design! But really great filming and editing on your part! 👏Very underrated channel.
@@tfmg8223 Haha wow! that sounds like a really cool project! Would love to get something like that in the end. But I bet that it's a finicky thing to get working... Is there anywhere where you're sharing photos / videos on the project?
I could email you some but right now It’s disassembled right until I move it to a new building which shouldn’t take too long but my main goal is to start a 3d printing Business with it and maybe create something even more robust to where I could sell it as a unit itself!
@@Arne.Bornheim i’m honestly going to get back to work on it and hopefully get it done by January or February. I really like your channels content and how you’re actively talking to your community so I would have no problem sharing information about it with you and if it actually turns into a product I would definitely send it to you for maybe a cool video! Right now the current design involves pulling the bed out of the printer while bending it and sliding very wide razor clearing everything off the print bed. Quite a few stepper motors in linear rails all driven by a 3-D printer controller board😂
like a little rollercoaster for the plates that restackes them at the end? I know Andre (the maker of swapmod) has a rail system to let plates go off the printer a little more tidy than falling off
@Arne.Bornheim Yeah. I just die in pain when i see those plates fall, get hit and get scratched. Allowing the prints fall into a bin and the plates get separated safely would be cool to see. I own an A1Mini myself and I'm very excited for this project.
@@Splarkszter Haha sorry for making you go through that 😉 Yeah as I said in the video i usually just turn the printer 90° on the table so there's enough space... (takes up most of the table though )
It seems rather pricey vs the cost of just buying a 2nd A1 mini to double your output. Print farms are not going to use this thing, they use larger printers and fill up the build plate enough to run all night. It seems very well designed, just not worth the price of the kit and all the extra build plates. That said, print farms MIGHT use this type of thing if it were designed for A1 printers which are currently the most cost effective multi-color printers, but the market for A1 print farm mods is incredibly small.
Thanks for your input! I'm no print farm owner so I have little insight on the exact pros and cons for large scale 3d printing. personally I love it, since i often print larger gridfinity models that end up taking 3ish hours. With this mod I can not get 3 done in a night as opposed to one before 😊
I think it depends. for me I can easily print 3-4 plates overnight (instead of 1 before). I don't print much during the day since the printer is in my office. So for my specific usecase this makes a lot more sense than a second printer
Regarding the voice overs... sooner or later UA-cam gets his (her?) MLA, multiple language audio. It is already in place in some coutries, Then everyone and every company should and will create voice over tutorials. Cheers
I don't think it'll be a problem, since the webapp from Swapmod basically just edits the M3f file. Also swapmod was at the official Formnext booth so I think they like the project
@@Arne.Bornheim Thanks for taking the time to reply to me, that certainly puts me at ease, im still saving up to get the swapmod :) It was still extremely disheartening to read though.
Thanks, you're definitely right about this. I have my printers on smart plugs and a smart smoke detector that cut's power to all printers if smoke is detected. That makes things a bit safer but in the end it's still a risk

This is a really exciting product! But, I own two A1s. Any chance you are working to bring this to the A1?
Love seeing makers take constructive feedback well!
Hey Andre :) So having the gcode available as customer is agreat Idea as Arne stated. But tbf i'd be happy with an offline version of the gcode converter website. :)
Bambu should endorse this. It way increases the value and capability of what is already the most valuable and capable printer for the price!
This mod was featured at the official Bambu stand at formnext so they are definitely aware and in contact 😊
Swapmod is such a gamechanger. I'm suprised its not getting more attention.
It definitely deserved all the attention. You're getting so much for so cheap. Really have been loving it :)
@@Arne.Bornheim Looking forward to getting one. Thanks for the in-depth review!
your videos are so insanely high quality! just watching the beautiful shots with the awesome grading is so fun already!!
Thanks Jonas! Really mean a lot to hear 😊
I can’t wait for it to come to the US. I have an A1 mine that I just got. this would be really nice.
Yeah from what I hear and read Andre from Swapmod is already working on it and i hope you get to use it soon too :) !
What a thumbnail🔥
And great video!!! Next year there will be a big Swapmode for the A1 😍
Thanks a lot man 😊! And let’s hope! Swapmod for the A1 would be amazing !
Great video! Love the honest feedback and improvement analisys at the end.
Thanks! Would be really interested in a long time test from you using it for your Etsy printing 😊

Andre from Swapmod has a 3d printable slide so that's definitely possible 😊
Yeap, really hoping they will ship for the standard A1 too!! Can't wait
yeah would love that! from what I read it's not currently planned though :/ but maybe another company will do something similar
There are handles that are not centered, you can use them as a base and build for them./

It says q1 or q2 next year
Hi Arne. What was that little step you did at 4m50s where you seemed to fill the build plate with models in one click. Was that within Bambu’s slicer? Great video and thank you.
Withing Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer you can right click on an object and at the very top is "fill bed with copies" That should do the trick 😊
@ thank you Arne. Fantastic little trick ☺️
definitely makes it a lot easier than figuring it out yourself 😊
Now this is a awesome video. I did not know about this and looks like it could be really good. But i too would wish for one on the A1. Cheers.

I think this is worth implementing directly into orca slicer tbh.

Cries in American. We can’t get this until later and I literally bought an A1 mini because of this very mod
I think there are companies that you can ship stuff to and they’ll ship it to you. But yeah this is annoying

This thing needs a plate slide or something.
The plate is designed to pop-off prints once it has cooled down so we could even have it go vertical.

definitely very much worth it. I love this thing
Biggest red flag I see is that it requires a website to convert the files. Aside from user experience, if that website goes down you're screwed
