usually you do want to use it at the start of the round because in dia + most people wont just immediately 5 man exec every round without rotating etc. using it at the start gives you early info and it’ll recharge

One area where the attacking side sets up for execution almost immediately is midlane on Breeze. It's not often, but if they're staging for a push on round start you'll need to dart immediately if you're going to catch the info before they peek.

it actually depends on the situation, it's better to use ur cd ability right when the round starts, but when they are playing around your dart and rushing every round, then it's better to save it.
You most definitely should throw your recon dart out at the beginning as much as you can. Choosing where is what you have to be wary of. You can instantly clear out a good section of the map with a good dart and you’ll have another one to assist with holding the site they’re planning on executing while taking map control forcing them into that one site you’re already prepped for. Abuse the cooldown as much as possible and time your darts.

There are like two types of sovas in game. One is lineup larrys who aims to have lineups for maximum site info and then there’s sova like me who uses dart and utils to get info just before pushing in or info just before or during a push comes in

It getting destroyed early on is still info, especially if multiple people try to shoot it. As long as it’s not shot in the same place every round, or the enemy team could fake a site by shooting it

Starting recon has its use, depending on how the enemy plays, obv you don't want to drop a slow ass arrow at a very obvious spot every single time
In the first place, if you gonna be saving it, sentinel is important for holding the initial information gathering
Early info has its advantages, you can lock down info on at least player location regardless of it being shot off without scanning, esp so when they tend to play grouped up, you can gather info how many are playing at per angle and roughly gauge where they are gonna go and how long to rotate
Besides, by the time you be retaking site anyway, you already have recharged your 2nd scan, and your team should've retreated back for a full retake if it was not possible to nab some kills or trades

Pretty sure I heard a high level soba called cavern say that you SHOULD throw your dart early for info as it comes back and then you can greed the timing on your second dart, if your darts are getting broken you should invest some time into analysing pro gameplay for example (cavern) as you can then see why util is being thrown as well as being exposed and learning more darts overall so that way they can’t prevail your dart (not a diva main but just my general knowledge take with a grain of salt)
Forgot to mention but watch pros play soloq not coordinated team play you should be learning how they play in a non coordinated environment
If the enemy team doesn't 5man execute every round, then darting early makes total sense. However I would always wait a second or two to figure out if they're rushing your site. In that case you should keep the dart and use it to counter the execute.
For like 1st or 2nd round u can use it immediately in the rounds for info after that they will break it a lot
I dont use sova often, but this is what I do when I use fade or skye. I will wait for like 2 seconds before throwing my haunt, or sometimes waiting for the enemy team to scan 1st, this way more effective but my decision often depends on the enemy's habit and their decision making like if they are able to adapt as well and make new strategy

Similar principle applies to Fade as well.
You can still throw darts and eyes main, but you should at least mix up your timing. Also, only do this if you're against slow pushes, as taking space is the most advantageous thing in those scenarios.
Yeah, use of this util is situational. If they play slow, then there is no value in keeping your dart for all that time and you should use it early into the round to take space like you say. :)

I would say there's no hard and fast rule about that. Playing Sova is more about intuition rather following rules, but what u said in the end is right though I saw many people darting mindlessly on ct for kills lol. 😅

I always do this, recon the site once the enemies are in. I only recon early if i have ult, and for early lineups shock darts in defending 👌🏻

Broo I like these tips, I'm scared of using Sova because I can't do line ups and my recon always getting destroyed so I can't really help my teammates to get some info which is crucial because its the most important job for Sova
You don't need many lineups for Sova, just a 1-3 good ones on each map are usually enough :) But you should understand how to use your utility well on the fly!

Your right about the recon being the most powerful and useful which is why u should capitalize on its timer, when round starts and there playing slow not making noise shoot the fricking dart man it will give info even if its broken and sooner you chuck it sooner u get it back so you get more uses out of his ability captilizing on it use.
Relax my man. If there was more time in a shorts video, then I would have explained that against enemies who play slow and default a lot, early darts can definitely be useful. But that's not how most soloq games go and spotting enemies is just useless if they rush your site anyways.

You can recon at the start of the round to get info. It will be back up for the retake
If they are on that site, you can just use your ears and when they are executing you can use it. if they aren’t there and you use it, it’s a waste

Bro what? Isn't recon-ing as soon as the round starts a good thing. U can get info even if they destroy the dart, cuz it shows they are there, also gives your team more time tp rotate. ;-;
Often it's not. If they shoot your dart instantly, you don't know if there is 1 or 5 people there. And even when you scan 5 people, if they rush instantly it's not going to make a difference because your team doesn't have time to rotate. The reveal is much more powerful as a "wallhack" then for you and your teammates to wallbang and kill them through smokes.
For info the dart is good if the enemy team is playing slow and you need info during the round. There is an argument to use the drone instead but it's not always possible. If you're interested in more context, I would recommend this video by a pro: ua-cam.com/video/q5PEdkU4YjE/v-deo.html :)

Exactly what ive been doing when playing sova. Instead of recon in early just use drone for infos first. When they take site use recon and u create chaos for the opposing team haha

This is what silver players don't understand. Whenever we have sova in our team and viper in enemy, I request them to save their dart until execute, they just say I'm toxic and mute me so mostly I play sova specially in breeze despite maining controllers.
Yeah but in higher ranks there is slower game play. Using dart at start for info or for a kill is fine since it will be recharged for the retake

Also, don't forget that shock darts hurts a lot
I don’t play Sova often. I need to know. Does the scan go through walls and around corners? If not I’ve been using it wrong this entire time
it doesn't, you only get scans of targets in line of sight of the dart

Why not insta throw the dart specially on a close site where you'll get instant info. The dart is on a cd anways and if they're entrying, you wouldn't use your utility until retake lol
Everytime I'm in a team with a sova they never use the dart, i always need to ask them to use the darts
Using ur dart at the start of the round isnt as bad as ur making it out to be, 1st what if the opponents r hitting a site silently? U have no info, or what about if they split up? Yk the classic 3 or 4 go A and 1 or 2 go B, also the dart has a 40 second cooldown meaning if ur at the wrong site and u wait a bit ull have the dart again for retake
yeah, what's talked about in the video is definitely situational/targeted towards people using the dart at the start of every round no matter the situation

It's kind of, but what does that tell you exactly? That one person is there. Most of the time, especially in solo q you get to know that from steps and utility anyways. If the enemies are playing very slow and lurking a lot, then earlier darts have their value. :)
