Tried the EdP in the store the other day. Fell in love with it instantly. The Parfum is also great, but I seriously doubt I'd buy it, because it's more of a formal setting type frag for me, and I don't attend functions like that often. The EdP just smelt really great and I feel like it's going to be the most versatile of the three.
I bought the Parfum on accident and was in love ever since. Have the parfum and EDP and can definitely appreciate the EDP. But the parfum for me is my all time favorite scent even in my 30+ bottles of colognes.
Before my nose was trained, I didn't think any of them were anything special. Now I'm addicted to the parfum. I normally don't like powdery facets but it's blended so well into this that I can only be impressed.
I have all three flankers of bleu de chanel. The EDT and EDP are my personal favorites and the parfum is awesome as well. The parfum is denser and more powerful but the EDP is more floral which i prefer as i love masculine floral type scents
I bought the Parfum back when I really didn't know much about fragrances. I'm not upset with my purchase, although I don't wear it much. I find it very stuffy. I do appreciate the complexity of the scent. It's very strong and the dry down is very nice, although a little too peppery for my taste. I only wear this during formal events when I want a very tasteful scent that will endure for several hours. In retrospect, the EDP probably would have been a better personal choice.
Thank you Ash, this video dropped just in time. Tested EdP and Parfum two days ago. EdT is just too sharp and nowadays copied to death. I like that EdP still remains the freshness and shower gel vibe (in the best most flattering sence possible) of the EdT with refined edges, but man... The Parfum is something else. As you said... it is still BdC, but it is thick and it behaves differently on a skin. It is so smooth and lively through the whole time. You dont get this from a 30 dollar clone. And the gold text on the bottle. Such a small touch but in my opinion it just makes the bottle look so much classier and more expensive.
The Parfum is the best smelling to me by a little and highest quality but in my opinion it is not worth the markup in price over the EDP. The EDP is a little more versatile too. The EDT is a work sent only to me in these days now.
Accidentally bought the EDT but it's alright, I wanted this for like over 5 years when I was in college. When I started working full time, I'm slowly collecting my dream collection
The parfum is the most tropical and smoldering. Reminds me of Hawaii. Pineapples and ocean volcanoes. Also the most sweet- the only BDC with tonka. It's definitely complex and polarizing. I prefer the EDP because of its mature simplicity for daytime wear.
Same! Parfum is just incredible. Its expensive, but seriously one of the best quality colognes I’ve ever had. I was lucky enough to be gifted the 150ml! It really does last forever! I’ve worn it many times, and it barely has a dent in it! Parfum for the win! 💯
I'm a newbie when it comes to perfumes, but Blue de Chanel was the first one that got me interested and inspired me to seek out other perfumes.. So thanks for this video!
I started with BDC years ago and went down the rabbit hole. Had I known then what I know now, I would have just stuck with BDC. It would have saved me well over $1k, easily. You don't have to listen to me but if you do, you will save a tremendous amount of time and money. Get all three variations of BDC and your fragrance collection is complete. And, you can be confident that no matter which variation you happen to be wearing at any given moment, it's better than anything else anyone around you is wearing. Plain and simple. It is classy, timeless, and gets a lot of complements. You might find something comparable, but nothing replaces it. I paid about $47 for a 100 ml bottle of Dylan Blue and that's probably the closest challenger to it for a blue fragrance that gets a lot of complements...
As someone that have bought both EDP and PARFUM, scent wise I prefer parfum, it's creamier and sweeter while still having that fresh amber and a bit of incense. EDP is more citrusy, more incense and more fresh in general. Eventhough they both last quite long, EDP is expectedly has more sillage and projects more.
The edt was love at first sniff for me. Tried all 3 on skin, still my favorite. It's also perfect as I have sweeter fragrances for the colder weather and I don't tend to reach for the BdC. For me it works. As for pricing, I bought it at TheBay in Canada during one of these "purchase for 150$ and get a 50$ gift card", pretty much the only way to get a "sales" price (that 50$ went to a bottle of Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee, which is my winter fragrance).
Parfum is the best I don’t understand why the EDP gets so much hype. I purchased the EDP a few months ago and although it isn’t a bad scent the Parfum is more refined and smells much better. I ended up returning the EDP and will continue using the parfum.
My favorite flanker of this line is the EDP It is probably perhaps my all-time favorite fragrance ever I love it and my scent of the day is Gatsby 22 by Ormonde Jayne
A few years back when I first started collecting and was in my Blue phase, I was in the which Bleu dilemma. I eventually went Parfum. Refinement is how I’d describe it. Since then the collection has grown to 200 and 8 other Blues. So far the Parfum is my only Bleu but if I do get another it would probably be the edt just because it’s farther away from the Parfum 🇨🇦
I have all 3, and I find use for all 3. Bdc edt is stronger than ppl would think, and it is a banger in summer. The edp is more versatile though and if you just have one it is the one i understand why is being recommended
parfum is still very youthful from the tonka drydown. on my skin its like a delicious second skin. I swear the parfum is best appreciated during those intimate moments
Eau de toilette: very nostalgic shower gel sweet scent, reminds me of 2014 when i smell this despite it coming out 2010. Now in 2023, it lasts 3-4 hours on skin. Terrible longevity due to the newer batches but lovely scent. 8/10 Eau de parfum: Takes the shower gel scent to another level and smells much classier, complex and formal, so its more versatile for me than the EDT. Has the same sweetness but more amber to it, uses aldehydes and coriander for more earthiness. Projects same as the eau de toilette and the value is a little more expensive but id say its worth it saving up for the eau de parfum than eau de toilette. I get 8 hours with this. 9/10 Parfum: this one has the DNA from other flankers but it is so much more earthy and less sweet. It doesn't project a lot but it is a long lasting. 8-9 hours longevity and half foot projection. Leaves only a scent trail. Its more mature and classier than eau de parfum but you can wear all seasons except summer. 8/10 All in all, I take the eau de parfum because its the most versatile and a great balance between longevity and projection. It is also a great balance in the sense that it doesnt smell completely different from the original EDT but it uses more earthy ingredients.
It's true ! Blue de chanel is a blind buy for any man. Personally, I like ' Edu de Perfum' ,the pefum version is slightly more refined and not much different.
Having owned the Parfum and tried the EDP, with BDC for me, the EDT is the best one! 😅 i love the freshness and tanginess. EDP and Parfum are more sophisticated especially the Parfum which is a bit powdery as well Though I have noticed a considerable downgrade in the current batches as compared to my old 2016 EDT BDC... 😢
The EDT is the best smelling imo. I have the Parfum and the EDP as well. EDT was my favorite scent back in 2019 but since then I barely reach for any of my bleu’s. TBH I find myself reaching for one of my 4 Sauvages. 😯
I have wore the EDT for a decade. Picked up the Parfum today. I like the complexity and depth. Have been thinning the herd down to my favorites. It sits next to Sauvage Elixer and a half dozen others. The parfum feels like a year round fragrance for any occasion. They really came out strong with this one, that will be versatile as a blue scent, but can also fit well in a more formal venue if desired. When I was shopping the scent I sprayed the EDP on one arm and the Parfum on the other. 4 hours later, the Parfum is still in a nice strong dry down while the EDP has faded considerably.
For some reason, I have a difficult time literally smelling the BdC line. I'm not sure what in them makes me anosmic to them. I wish I could enjoy them as much as everyone else seems to, it's an extremely beloved line in the community.
I had the same issue for years. I literally couldn't smell anything when I put them on paper or my skin. Came back after years and can finally smell them and definitely a huge fan of the Parfum.
The reason why the EDT is the freshest is because it is the ONE TRUE BLUE fragrance out of all three. Technically, the EDP and Parfum ARE NOT blue fragrances. They are amber/woody fragrances.
Blind bought a big bottle of EDP and I hate it. Smells like aquatic n grapefruit pencil shavings. My gf loves it so I now have an excuse to wear. Never smelled the EDT but the Parfum is EXQUISITE. Definitely will buy after I FINALLY use this up. I’d love to see a BDC Elixer.
I first had the EDT many years back and finished the bottle, then got a larger bottle of the EDP which I initially really liked but then I would smell it on so many other people at work, in fact it is the only fragrance I have ever owned (out of about 250 fragrances that I have owned) that I have smelt on the most number of people at work. This made me lose interest in it. I then bought the Parfum which projects a little less (than the EDP,) which is ideal for my work place, but lasts longer.
I dont know how they did it but the parfum smells intensely woody in the drydown. Like completely woodsy notes. But somehow smells “bluer” than the other 2. Strange. Love them all.
The Parfum is the best smelling , but if you can only get one get the EDP is Gad the perfect balance and the price isn’t too bad either, I own all 3 and there all great !!!!
Hello from Bucharest, Romania! Nice review, my favourite of the three is BDC Parfum and I bet that the next Bleu de Chanel will be called Bleu de Chanel Elixir :)
I was a huge BDC fan, especially the parfum version. Then I jumped on Afnan Turathi Blue, that is my "blue* go to. Smells extremely close to Bvlgari Tygar. Oh my it's so close it should be criminal. For pennies on the buck.
Fell in love the whole range the 1st time I tested it a little over a year ago. But for some reason or another been pushing back. Mostly because of the price. The owner of one of the fragrance discouter stores told me that Chanel controls the retail price tightly. Not that much discount from the departmental stores. That was until my fragrance guy hooked me up with the parfum for less than half the price. Wife loves it too. It goes into the 'special occasions' rotation. 😊😊😊
As a beginner collector i would love an explanation video about the difference between edp edt and parfum i dont know if thats something you have already one but it would definetly be helpful
An eau de toilette has less essential oils and more alcohol volume. This makes that it smells stronger at first but the smell lasts less hours. You use it to cover smells for example the gym and need to reapply ever now and then. Eau de perfum has more essential oils and a little bit less alcohol. This makes the silage less powerfull but the perfume lasts longer. Perfum has the most essential oils. This makes the smell more personal (not huge silage) but this the one where the smell lasts more hours. So basically edt has more projection but you need to re apply. Edp is in the middle and perfum is more personal but lasts longer.
The first time I smelled Bleu it noted a glorified overrated hyped fragrance, I didn't get why everyone seemed to like it so much... I was starting to get into this complex and expensive hobby; After some time I realized that my nose or brain is constantly changing and adapting, for that reason now I give fragrances a few honest and fair tries, and some of them made me change my mind completely over time, and Bleu is one of those. It's amazing how solid of a choise it is and how much I like it now.
Bleu de Chanel Elixir maybe? I still like the scent but got bored of it a few years ago so don't have it in my small collection anymore. I'm thinking to repurchase the EDT because I really love the freshness of it as well as the Parfum for those cooler days. Elixir would be nice to be released. I'm a big fan of Dior Sauvage Elixir and want to see if Chanel can get any close to Elixir in terms of making a more mature, refined compliment beast version of Bleu. Great guide Ash!
Bleu de chanel edp is my favourite fragrance. I also like stronger with you and armani code. I just wish bdc edp performed for longer . 6 hours at the most
As a lady I liked the Parfum the best: date night sophisticated gentlemen fragrance. Best for people over 35. But close second comes in the EDT. too bad that one doesn't stay that long, u really need to overspray. Parfum holds for 3 days on my boyfriends clothes.
I just tried the EDT, applied a couple hours ago, I can't really smell it anymore. My sense of smell isn't the greatest, though. I'm going to have to guage reactions.
I bought the parfum didn't know there was a edt and edp. I came from cologne's like mont blanc ranges. Not gonna lie u can surely tell the parfum smell is truely unique. The parfum last pretty long ngl.
i think the best is to test it yourself. Even with same line and different variance, each perfrom differently. However, It was really hard to decide if it is a gift.
I usually buy Chanel’s when Macys has the Friends and Family sales, it’s a quarterly sale usually. They don’t show it discounted online but if you go into the store they absolutely will apply the discount. Rack up some Macys points then apply the points to further discount something else and the savings add up. The Parfum pulled me in, didn’t find the line amazing prior. Now it’s grown on me a lot and just buy EDP and am more than satisfied. May buy another bottle of the Parfum just to have.
I just have to sat EDP I went through a 100ml bottle so I bought the 150ml bottle and out of the 3, found this to be exactly where it is right in the middle. Perfection but for a more rugged scent Sauvage EDP and Elixir
I have bottles of edt and edp plus a couple dozen card samples of parfum. Haven’t wore any of them after buying Dua Bleu de attar. I’m not a big clone pusher and it was my first dua purchase last year. It smells close to Parfum plus I can smell my own bubble for hours. BDC Parfum I have to put my nose to skin to smell within an hour

The same happens to me, I just said the most concentrated one, so the store person gave me this...and I absolutely love it.
Just bought the parfum by mistake instead of the edp let’s hope it’s the same for me 🤣

The EDP is essential. The Parfum is so elegant most likely the best blue drag in the designer realm.
BDC Parfum for the win. It just so deep, rich, & sophisticated.

As someone that have bought both EDP and PARFUM, scent wise I prefer parfum, it's creamier and sweeter while still having that fresh amber and a bit of incense. EDP is more citrusy, more incense and more fresh in general.

Perfum has the most essential oils. This makes the smell more personal (not huge silage) but this the one where the smell lasts more hours.
So basically edt has more projection but you need to re apply. Edp is in the middle and perfum is more personal but lasts longer.
Just recently re-bought the EDT and logevity is max 2hs, pretty disappointed
Edp has this nice cooling effect from the mint on your skin.
Parfum is warm n relaxing.
I have the EDT and the parfum. It works great to me. I've I had choose. I'd go for the parfum version.
This is one of your best videos out there.
Great breakdown Ash! If I had to choose one, it would be the edp.
Great guide Ash!
was just about to get another blue frag and was thinking abt BDC. so happy you made a vid abt it!!
EDP is the best concentration for BDC IMO. Just the perfect balance.
Please do video buying guide for Amouage Interlude, Interlude Black Iris, and Interlude 53 😆🤭
Why the trick questions man!
All 3 is the answer!
Thanks, Ash. I would have the edp. I've been looking for a review of blu de channel, and you did a great review . 👌
All smell amazing the edp then the perfume smells the most unique in my opinion
Bleu de chanel edp is my favourite fragrance. I also like stronger with you and armani code. I just wish bdc edp performed for longer . 6 hours at the most
Just get the Parfum ... its the best of the 3 ....
Edp the best you monkey.
Parfum has been the go to for me for the last 2 1/2 months 😭🔥
As a lady I liked the Parfum the best: date night sophisticated gentlemen fragrance. Best for people over 35. But close second comes in the EDT. too bad that one doesn't stay that long, u really need to overspray. Parfum holds for 3 days on my boyfriends clothes.
love the parfum
I only have one… I wish I got the EDP instead of the EDT. I’m not crazy about the EDT opening, it’s almost too much IMO.
I just tried the EDT, applied a couple hours ago, I can't really smell it anymore. My sense of smell isn't the greatest, though. I'm going to have to guage reactions.
My favorite Bleu de Channel is Missoni Parfum =)))
i layer savage and the edp with 3 or 4 each .. got lots of complements
How much was ur bottle after the discount?
Yup. I got a 150 ml bottle of the EDP for $145. Crazy deal
Im sure the chanel is much more refined tho when peoppe do get that occasional whicf of the real stuff they csnt deny that creamy smell
Bleu De Chanel has been my signature since the OG. I've owned them all and love them. If I wanna feel like Bruce Wayne/Batman this line my go to.
What about projection and performance ? That’s more important between edp and perfum
If you're going out for the night bring the EDT with you because after a few minutes outside the wind just blows it away.
Not worth the price.
I love these line guide videos. You should make some more!
