Thank you for explaining that clients are not just paying for the hours it took us to do a job, but all the years of training, development and experience that let us do it in that many hours. No matter how long you've worked in this field, it is always a welcome boost to be reminded of why our work packs more value to our clients than the mere time we spend on each project.

I do not make wallpapers, though I make/sell pillows, prints, and digital downloads of my prints, and the one thing that is the most important part of getting your work out there and making money from your work is the RELATIONSHIP you build with the customer, as you said people do not buy the product they buy what they believe in YOU! Hello, I am trying to do this with my Esty shop and I was just wondering what was the resolution/size you used? Also did anyone complain about the wall paper not being the right size. I am struggling with what size I should make it. I know people have different size screens. Thanks! Edit* I see you were focused on iphone sizes, is there a recommended size for general phones?
I'm curious how long the wallpapers were up before making that much. Like, were they up for a week? Or a year? I feel like that's a pretty important stat to know.
This is the exact same way I think about things. I do add “learned stuff” as well to some projects, but not retroactively. If I know that I’ll learn stuff and gain from it at the beginning, I factor that in to what I’m building.
That's a good point I didn't touch on! Money isn't the only thing that can make a project worthwhile: learning a new skill or honing a skill you already have can be worth it on its own.
Some advice please, what are the pixel dimensions of the wallpapers for different devices and in what format should I upload the wallpapers in png, svg, jpeg, pdf, etc.
New set looks great Matt.. also, happy to be rocking the wallpapers on the MBP and iPhone! And $87 an hour? I really need to dumb down my production as I'm not even a 100th of that for my videos haha!

well if you really do some standart wallpapers it leads to nothing but a lot of people are watching movies,animes,soccer and other content you could do the wallpaper content. Movie charakters football players and other things would sell much better the problem however is that you have to know what the audience likes
It doesn't matter so much how much money you made vs time invested in such a short period. What matters is how much money the long tail will bring in over the years.
That's true :) I will say that these made 90% of their money before this video came out, so the long tail hasn't been significant yet, but maybe it will one day 🙂
