From the river to the sea will never become reality. Wiping out the Jews is core doctrine in the Islamic Resistance mandate, it's even part of the Hamas Mandate:"The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem)."

Norman has made a sacrifice for humanity beyond our comprehension and imagination. This hero has not only sacrificed his personal life but also lives a life of constant awareness of the dangers that lurks around him as if waiting for the opportunity to strike a the heart of the living. The living that inspires the world. The voice that brings hope to the people of this world. I am forever grateful and indebted to you Sir. I hope and pray that you are granted a long and healthy life because I don’t know who will be able to take your place in this world. You have left a legacy unmatched

The problem I have found talking to most Jews outside Israel is that you basically can’t discuss anything negative about the place.
If you dare to put any idea across about the place that doesn’t fit there idyllic ideas of the place you get shut down.
Now for instance I live in New Zealand, lovely place but does it have racial issues, yes, could we look after our poor better, yes, do we pollute the place in a way that very few modern economies could get away with, yes.
But these problems are talked about, we know we need to do better, that’s what a good society does, it looks at the mirror and discusses what blemishes it sees.
Israel and the Jewish people have a self belief that is damaging to them and those who need to live with them.
And the biggest thing they need to get there heads around is that criticism of Israel doesn’t make you an antisemite.

wadr:I fear your over-generalizations are based on a reflection of, understandably, your experiences, and are harmful/contribute to causes of prejudices. There are also jewish anti-zionist organizations full of jewish people who have been, & are now working against Zionist politics. There are many jewish people in anti-jewish organizations who have been & are now doing the same. Imo, it helps to avoid the potential harms of over-generalizing by using qualifiers like, 'many' or, 'the people I've met', etc vs 'the jewish people" vs 'Israel and the Jewish people have a self belief that is damaging to them and those who need to live with them.
And the biggest thing they need to '...

Thanks for this interview, so personal and so political at the same time. When I listen to Norman Finkelstein, I have those rare moments of intellectual and human discovery - when you listen to a great poem or read a great page of prose that articulate or paint the substance of human experience- justice and truth? And think: I thought that or I experienced that, or that it was like my mother too...

Norman Finkelstein has done important and great works bringing truth to the light. But another great thing I don’t know if he realizes is the hope he gives to people that in the world. There are still honest truth seeking people willing to spend their time and effort for the right causes. It just gives me such hope in mankind that not everybody is corrupt not everybody can be bought so I’m very thankful for men like Norman Finkelstein.
