- Sharing with you my thoughts in this CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF25 review. Does it live up to the hype its getting - lets find out.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin. CeraVe is not a brand which I personally buy from as they are not cruelty free bu I was recently sent their new sunscreen and since so many of you guys love the brands moisturisers I thought I would put it through its paces and see what its like.
The CeraVe AM Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF25 uses old style US compliant filters so its much heaver than some of the European sunscreens and Korean sunscreens we have fallen in love with. It also comes with a relatively high price point for 50ml of product.
However this is so much better than the other Cerave sunscreens which are either super chalky or stink and burn the skin, so its a step forward for the brand.

I love this one because it’s not too oily for my dry skin and it’s not stinging my eyes! I love this for the winter

I've used this for a few years, love it! Its not new, the spf 30 was the American version. Unless this is a new spf 25 for the American Market?? Is it different from the one I've been buying from boots? 🤔
Why are you trying spf25 since they now have spf50 from same line?!
Thanks 🌷🌺!! Cerave sunscreen on face was ok nice, very affordable imo but there are much better for same price from Asia ( I’m in US). Don’t have access to EU ☹️
I don't think we have this exact one in the US. I hate the AM Lotion SPF 30, but I do like the Ultra-Light SPF 30. I can't tell if this is a version of one of those or something else entirely.
Can you review the latest version of AM with SPF 50? This SPF 25 stings my eyes badly
I haven't tried the 25 version. But the 50 is very hydrating and leaves the skin very soft. It's a pleasure to apply. And no sign of eye irritation for me :)
what about its protection??!
I will stick with Avene Intense Protect or LRP Antihelios Dermo kids or Biore Watery Essence or whatever I find from Garnier or Uriage.
Thank you for mentioning they aren’t cruelty free. That is a deal breaker for me. Would love to hear your thoughts on Superdrug’s ‘protect me’ spf30 bottle of sun protection and antioxidants. It’s in a glass bottle with a dropper. I like the application but not sure whether the ingredients are any good? I’m new to your channel and enjoying your content a lot 😊thanks!

I use this if I am indoors during the day, if I go out I use spf50 or spf100 instead,
I bought the 50 SPF version, which I believe is the most recent launch. 25 for me is not enough. I haven't tried it yet :)

@@mali-hz4cb now I can tell you it's very hydrating and it leaves a slightly shiny look. But it does not hurt my eyes. I am going to purchase it again, especially for my around eyes area that's dry...

Is there a point to using SPF 25 sunscreen? That’s barely sunscreen.
It's fine unless you're going swimming in the sea or lounging in the beach. It's fine for city life.

I love CeraVe moisturizers, but this AM sunscreen pills horribly. I tossed it after 3 applications.
Did you use other products with it like serums ?

I bought it but threw it away the next day because it did give me contact dermatitis of some sort, on my checks.
same! i got red patches on my cheeks and chin after using it. it also irritated my eyes. what do you use now?
I honestly hate it. I have normal skin and this just never absorbs. It's not sticky, but it's oily as hell. It's heavy, it breaks me out, I despise the pump packaging, and unscented basically means it smells like every cheap sunscreen. 😅 Big dissapointment.
Agreed, my face starts burning when i put it on and it smells bad, let alone how oily it makes look
Such waste of money, did u try another brand that u liked? The summer is approaching and I’m desperately looking for a new sunscreen 😂😢
Can you just use a moisturing sunscreen or do you still have to put a reg moisture on and then put moisturing spf on ?
You can use SPF moisturizer + sunscreen, just SPF moisturizer, or just sunscreen. It really depends on how much moisture your skin needs, and how moisturizing the individual products are. At the end of the day, SPF is tested and rated the same way regardless of what "type" of product it is, so as long as you're using enough, it doesn't matter how they're marketed.
We are blessed with so many great European drugstore sunscreens here in the UK so there is no need to buy this American crap x

Which sunscreen do you recommend? I live in the Netherlands and the Garnier 24 Hydra SPF 50 seems more expensive here than elsewhere (20 EUR here vs 4 pounds in the UK iirc).
Love this one it's my go to and never runs out you can apply a very rich even coverage it's almost whipped

Garnier for example has awesome sunscreens at absolutely affordable pricepoints.
If you want moisturizers with already included UV protection, there are so many. For example for oily/combo skin a nice one is Eucerin Dermo Pure with SPF 30, it's a lighter fluid and costs about €15.-
And then for more dry or dehydrated skin there is for example Avène Hydrance UV riche with SPF 30. It costs round €20.- online.
Omg this one in the US is freaking awful! Super pilly and gross. Oh wait this is a different one than the 30 spf that one sucks

In the US we have two SPF 30's that look a lot like this, but different (AM Lotion and Ultra-Light Lotion). I hate the former with a passion but the latter is actually pretty decent.
