Absolute genius, in the writing and performances. I will never tire of seeing it. As for the 8 dislikes.....you really are the most graceless, dimwitted bumpkins ever...
If this was Jeeves and Wooster, Jeeves would've seen through that disguise in an instant. "I say, Jeeves, it's me under all this drag!" "Very good, sir."
@@SpeccyMan yeah. Google doesn't use English English though, so it always marks our spellings as "mistakes" on the youtubes (and still does it even after I set the language setting). But aside from just being forgivable for that reason, honestly I reject both sets of arbitrary preferences. Our side of the pond got some of it right, their side of the pond got some of it right. Besides whatever of my preferences have been set simply by virtue of what I'm used to, I find it best to pick and choose, mix and match. "Honor" looks better on the page to me, probably only due to that's likely the way I've seen it spelled. Eh, language is an amorphous blob anyway. Unless it's getting in the way of understanding I don't see the harm of it changing just as it always has done. I do get how annoying it can be if it's a pet upset, though. One of mine is people putting ends on words that don't need them because that's already what they mean (as in, "resiliency" instead of "resilience"... shudders). So yeah we all have the capacity for pedantry. Ideologically in terms of language nationality identity though, I guess you'd call me a punk and a remixer. Both of which seem pretty British to me. :) Anyway, you didn't ask for any of this rambling, ha. All the best.
I was probably about 12 when I first watched all of Blackadder, but still, such was Tim McInnerny's performance that I did not recognise him as Percy from 1 and 2.

LOL....talk about 'opportunism'....to climb the ladder to get a promotion...."....oh, it's ALL so sudden...I mean...I don't mind about the ten toes, but your not covering me with pepper...".....still a funny scene, after all these years....
Crazy as it sounds, this sort of did happen. The Canadian Corps' preforming troupe, "The Dumbells" had a female impersonator known as "Marjorie". A British General saw them preform and lost his mind over "her".
"Honestly darling you really are the most graceless dim witted pumpkin I have ever met"
"I don't think you should say that to her sir"
😂😂
Bumpkin, not pumpkin!
"I want to make you happy, darling."
"Well that's very kind of you, sir."
XD
That whole segment is the best joke on Darlings name in the entire series.
“It’s just all so sudden sir”
"I want to make you happy, darling'
"well, thank you sir"
Its amazing that the Darling joke never gets old, but it doesn't
It's so cheesy and obvious that it skips over the 'new then old then funny again' thing for a joke. Instantly tongue in cheek, so to speak
Stephen fry came up with the idea
I love it, reminds me of ‘Who’s On First?’
And never will...
Until the last episode, when it’s no longer funny, but poignant.
whenever they say" Darling" you just have to laugh hahaha how ingenius
I actually know someone with "Darling" as her last name.
TitanWar93 when woman got it, it's ok. but when a man got it, then it's hilarious :D
+nats rich "Stop slouching, Darling"
Stephen Fry said that this one of the most difficult scenes to do as they had to get the timing absolutely right for it to work.

Tim McInerney is often overlooked but his portrayal of Captain Darling in Blackadder Goes Forth was exceptional.
I love Melchett's growls. Has me in stitches everytime. "Hahaaa...Ah! How do I look darling?"..
Hugh Laurie in Flapper Drag is just the best!
Every episode of Blackadder Goes Forth is a work of genius.
Absolute genius, in the writing and performances. I will never tire of seeing it.

I don't think you should say that to them sir... use one of Blackadder's insults.
lol :-D
Calm down, man. Those are 8 German WW1 veterans who are attempting to raid the video
'Sir, you will be combing women out of your moustache for weeks, sir'
Another reason to grow one.
“Honestly darling you really are the most graceless dim witted bunkin I ever met!” 😆😂
"I don't think you should say that to her, sir."
SethBlizzard
“Nnnarghhhh!”
"Darling......"
Yes, sir?
Hugh Laurie looked gorgeous in that dress..
Stephen Fry x Hugh Laurie
Stephen Fry thought so too.
'Georgina' coming out of the dressing room: "I feel fantastic!!"
And he feeeeeeeels fanTASticc in it
Steady!

Stephen Fry did look very good in drag in Jeeves and Wooster
@@amkb4649 Loved that episode! X'D
If this WERE Jeeves and Wooster ...
"I should esteem it a signal honor" must be the most General Melchitt sounding opening ever.
Melchett is British so he'd have used the correct spelling of honour. 😉

I think a big part of why the Darling joke works so well in this show, is that he's just as stupid about his own name as everyone else is.
"Honestly, Darling, you really are the most graceless, dimwitted bumpkin I ever met."
"I don't think you should say that to her, Sir."
the wordplay in here is just so good
"Well I don't think you should say that to her sir..." 😂😂
*The Darling part is one of the best pieces of British Comedy I've seen yet.*
Careful Darling your Lord Percy is showing
Lord Percy Percy vs Captain Kevin Darling. Which is the better character?
+Tyler Worden Personally I like Percy better, but it's really unfair to compare since Percy gets much more screen time
I'm not sure, I did like both and they are played by the same actor.
One of the best scenes! Darling was created for this :)
poor darling the general broke his heart
Intelligent comedy is the best. Word play never fails to please!
Unfashionable these days.
Not understood either.
The three Gods of British comedy
24 people got covered in pepper and sneezed all over their bodies.
This one clip shows why Stephen Fry is a GOD of comedy.
What makes it fantastic is they never acknowledge that Darling has an unusual name
British Comedy At Its Best
I don't think you should say that to her!
Hugh Laurie looks so...cute haha!
God knows Stephen Fry agreed 😂
Georgina looks hilarious 😂
Stephen Fry what a talent wow
Well, the dress will need a clean!
How has this got only 3.4k likes and half a million views!!!! Comedy genius
Melchett’s angry groan at the end 😂😂😂
Darling's voice pitch is going higher, he is starting to sound like percy
I loved the spunk joke.
We brits sure know how to make a comedy ;)
USED to know how to make comedy!
Fucking love this kind of humor
absolute classic😂
..... Why does Hugh Laurie in drag look like Maggie Smith............
Much better looking than Dame Maggie, (God rest her soul).
The spunk joke will never get old
I miss this show :(
Brilliant comedy :)
Brilliant comedy. *Salute*
My local PBS only ran these shows thru twice. Yet they show "Keeping up Appearances" and "As Time Goes By" year after year after year.
A lot of that has to do with who owns the rights
Same here in Australia.

To crusty 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
does it get better then a show with atkinson, laurie and fry
Plus McInnerny

I really want to find that outfit Melchett wears to the dig. I want to wear it to a fancy dress party, but I can't find one anywhere.
seanpintara it's only issued to British officers actually
The "Mess Kit" you might find one in a disposal store.
@@timorvet1 I think he’s talking about the beautiful red suit he’s wearing later in the video.

"oh dear me"

On the veranda, darling.

Yes, hugh laurie
not even one single episode to watch of Blackadder Goes Forth. SHAME on you `UA-cam`!!!.

This is a great show, but the laugh track is too overbearing.

Look out 'Georgina" you know that "Melchett"" [in real life] wears the brown hat.
Childish, do grow up.
Ah, A reply from someone with a bit of age.good show.
I love Blackadder, the dislike was for the ad, and the license fees paying for bbc's pedophile ring.
