Thanks for this - we're taking the repositioning cruise (Vancouver to Yokohama) in Sept on the Radiance. This was all good to know.

Sybil, great camera work. We are getting on Radiance of the Seas in 3 weeks. I have a few questions. 1) Where did you embark and what was your experience? Any suggestions? 2) Who was the cruise director? 3) Where was your muster station? Thanks

Hi Dave! I embarked in Vancouver and I was a very easy process. There are reps everywhere directing you to each step. After you drop your luggage, you go upstairs to Check-In, then back downstairs to board the ship. The cruise director was Cruisin' Susan, British I think. And, my muster station was outdoors on deck 4 or 5. Thanks for the questions!

We qill be going on this ship this summer with an interior room booked. (Hoping to upgrade). Do you have any recommendations for a not so crowded deck area?

the drydock refurbishment won't, to my knowledge, occur until after the Radiance of the Seas reached Australia in 2020, having enjoyed your review of the refurbished Millennium, between the two ships, which would you choose (I'm looking at the very similar transpacific 2020 itineraries, Aqua Class on the Millennium and Ocean View with Key & Unlimited specialty dining on Radiance? Thanks. I really value your opinion and, like you, don't participate in many activities, though dining is important.

Great to know, thanks! Honestly, I preferred dining on the Radiance of the Seas better.

Sybil, do you know if the Radiance of the Seas got that update in Sept. 2020, or did it have to be postponed because of Covid?

Hi Sybil! I came across your video and found it extremely helpful -- thank you for posting this! I have a few questions:
    1) What ships did you travel with for the other times you cruised Alaska? Of them, which one is your overall favorite? (I'm currently comparing Royal Princess vs Radiance)
    2) Were the rock climbing wall and water slides open on Alaskan cruises? They both seemed closed in your video, which is not surprising considering the Alaskan weather.
    3) Is there a difference between port vs starboard sides on one-way Alaskan cruises?
Thank you so much and have a great day!

    • @SybilTravels
      @SybilTravels  4 роки тому +1

Whew...this is really testing my memory!
      1) For Alaskan cruises, I've been on Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Bliss, Carnival Miracle, Celebrity Millennium, and Royal Caribbean Radiance of the Seas. Personally, I would go back with Celebrity without children or Carnival or Royal Caribbean with children.
      2) I shot my video primarily when we were in port, so these areas were closed at the time, but they were indeed open when cruising. :)
      3) I was in an inside cabin on a couple of my trips and had a view on several others. I rarely stay in the room, so I really don't have a recommendation here. If you're doing the one-way Alaska cruise, my primary recommendation is going from Alaska to Canada and that is based solely on my experience of it being way easier transportation-wise to get to my next destination.
      I hope this helps!

Can you share about your cabin? Pros/cons?

On this particular cruise, I was in an inside cabin. Overall, it was a decent size considering I had the room to myself. I personally wouldn't get an inside room if I planned to have more than 2 people in the room though.

Are the pools heated? Was the weather actually warm enough to swim, or are the people swimming in the video crazy? 😊

The pool in the Atrium is covered. It was warmish when I was last there, but the pools were heated. 😊

AUSTRALIA I did a cruise to New Zealand on Radiance of the seas last December 2nd time on this ship I love just about everything , except was disappointed with entertainment for age group 60 + seems to have plenty for 50 s age group & younger, service was fabulous very friendly bend over to make you comfortable, Had a balcony cabin was disappointed with the size of the cabin & Bathroom shower was with my sister she is quite a big lady so shower was awful for her. The first time on this ship my friend & I had a much bigger cabin. I thought all the cabins were the same size for 2 people.

what you find in the main dining room served next day in buffet, legally not allowed especially following a food service laws 2:4 hour rule. I would research your facts

While it may not have been the exact same food that was served, it was so similar that I noticed. Thanks for the feedback!

Who made this law? These ships are foreign registered and do not come under any other laws than the country of registration and usually there are no laws anyway.

I cannot ever understand why influencers who think they know everything do not know the difference between a boat and a ship.

  • @dlgregory35

Obvioulsy know very little about ships at all so should keep comments to them selves.
