Hey Alpine , don't you think after U11 something weird happening with sniper rifle ? I've played a few games with it and it just doesn't feel right , crosshair is shaking as if am drunk , bullets doesn't land properly (sometimes I don't even see where it lands , feels like it just disappears in air) . Before the update sniper rifle worked perfectly , I don't understand why would they need to change anything in it ..
If HLL was released as a new BF game today it would be the best BF game ever released. Its honestly so good. Couldnt believe my eyes taking over that Hill 400 map yesterday. It looked so damn real and the gunplay is so spot on. 10/10
No it wouldn't because kid's and people who like Battlefield or COD don't want a millsim they want a game this is not like any of them it's a millsim like Squad or Arma....

I suppose its because a lot of rounds theres not much action unless you chase it, not the type of game everyone can get behind because its a slow burn unlike cod where you get into a fight constantly
The psychological stress of knowing there's a good enemy sniper hunting you must be damn near crippling. I can't imagine how hard it must be to try and get up the guts to move to a new location after seeing one of your guys catch a bullet from an unknown location.

I like how you snipe like a true sniper would...never taking shots when they're not a high hit percentage (aka "No wasting ammo").
also because of high skilled and sniping experience. I'm trying to play like this, but waste 3/4 of my ammo probably ^^

Sniper here. Something movies and games often get wrong, but which can be remedied in Hell Let Lose because it looks like you have so many options for cover, is that you rarely take more than one shot from the same fp. The sop is to select two positions, up to four if there's ample covering fire, moving between them with each shot. I say this not to critisize, but as a tip. A sniper serves two purposes, protect the forward operating line from threats and snipers they might not see and suppress the enemy while throwing them into disarray. Accuracy is irrelevant for the second purpose once you've proven accuracy by taking down one target. Moving between fp confuses an enemy now intent on locating your fp while keeping their heads down, rather than keeping your fp hidden. A distance sniper is almost impossible to target without artillery anyway. Disarray and confusion occupy the enemy force while the forward troops infiltrate and flank. I don't know how realistic the AI is in terms of reaction but it might be worth testing out. A unit can pierce an enemy position quickly and effectively if the sniper operates correctly, usually by flanking while the enemy desperately try to locate direction of fire. I've seen snipers using tracer rounds on other videos which is something you wouldn't do as this merely betrays your fp, especially if other enemy units have eyes on the field and a way to communicate. The window of opportunity can be drawn out, but usually the aim is to shock, suppress and confuse for quick infiltration. Artillery (particularly mortars) is the sniper's true enemy so leaving the established fp quickly is a priority. I don't know if the WW2 'sniper in the bell tower' was ever a real thing (I suspect not) but high ground with very limited options for a safe retreat should be avoided over low ground, low cover with easy access to a fall back position.

Alpine, I remember watching a few of your videos early last year thinking "oh man, this does look good - if only they could improve the sound design..." I bought it anyway and loved it, despite those gripes. Almost two years later, they've drastically improved that aspect of the game and it sounds as good as it looks. I'm so grateful to the devs and to you for bringing HLL to my attention, coz it's honestly one of the best games ever devised, and it's only getting better all the time.
Nothing better than finding the perfect sniping spot and just picking people off like it's nothing!
Had a 102 kill game with 30 killstreak as sniper, it was so sick
I played my first game as a sniper, got behind enemy lines and got an 18 kill-streak, finished 29-10. Was the most fund I've had in the game so far!

You’re a beast man, best sniper round I had was 41 kills on Purple Heart Lane. I was up on a 3 story house over watching a friendly tank in an open field

They definitely are the best at ambience. All that sky needs is a lightning strike in the distance and a roll of thunder. Im glad they beefed up the hedge rows. I went to Normandy on the 50th anniversary and we went around faliase and different areas and the hedgerow is no joke. Not only was it 10-20 feet high but the lower part was compacted dirt and roots. Crazy stuff. You could sit there and notice every spot where a ambush or a cross fire could take place. The lower generation found out we were US Army and came out and gave us wine and talked about the fighting there. Most said it looked the same as when our army crawled thru it.
HLL is a 10/10 in every category
in every category except 1) load times 2) graphics 3) UI/ping. Still honestly one of the most fun games out there right now.
@@AverageDadAdventures I've had no issues with load times on my Series X, those drastically improved with the last update. The game also looks great, so I don't really get those points of yours mate.

Really? The sound design is a negative in my books. There are soooo many games that have better sound design. You can't even tell where a shot is coming from in HLL.
Post Scriptum's sound design is the best I've ever heard in a game. Give HLL the sfx of Post Scriptum and HLL would be a godly game.

nice vid - the best sniping i have seen is on the Dinant Map in Post Scriptum... 1000m + engagements because of the map size/river valley... bullet drop is insane

true sniping in this game is legendary. ive been on some great recon squads who fuck shit UP ! not just taking out enemies but destroying enemy garrisons, building new ones, killing off artillery, just lone wolf 2 man squad shit.
The bullet drop seems much less compared to the k98 scope, I was really dialing up at like 200-300m even made a 550m shot

there is such a satisfyingly/horrific realism to killing an enemy in HLL and SQUAD. just the full of life and movement to just a limp flop immediately after shooting one bullet in the right place.

dunno why but Sgt moody sounds exactly like that actor Glenn Morshower especially talking from 9:11 onwards taking that garrison.
if you don't know the actor check him out and definitely you have seen him in some military type roles he's mostly in the transformers movies as a general type.

Squad with scoped Mosin as insurgent or with the timberwolf as canadian, u kindda have the same feeling, except u need to deal against modern weapon with a bolt action rifle
*You also don't get sniping at ALL in Hell Let Loose unless you have a NVME SSD and load into the game faster than anyone else. Those recon classes and squads are limited to 4 players out of 50, and they are gone in mere seconds. Good luck playing sniper in this game unless you have a really good SSD and load in before the other players.*
Yeah it is kind of silly, I can understand why they put a limit on it, but at the same time the system just ends up having the same people hogging the recon class every game, I've actively seen people in a locked 1/2 Recon Squad, the second you join there just waiting to switch to Sniper so they don't have to spot, it's really irritating.

Im always the first in but as a noob i dont want to take it, especially as i play mostly alone.
Getting into a recon squad in this game is the easiest class to get into... you just gotta play with a friend!
if you dont wanna be the spotter or work with him when you are the sniper then you have not understood the point of this class, or the point of the game in general...
you can run off and find “the perfect spot”, get a 100 kills, and still all you managed to accomplish was helping your side loose the match...!

Red orchestra 2 had some decent sniper mechanics, particurlary that you could legit change the range and switch to iron sights if ya needed, granted the maps were much much smaller 64 players max per server, shame the game kind of died

Realistic mode or Arcade mode> Arcade mode is when all you have to do to get clean shot is aim at center of cross heir. Realistic is distance, wind, motion, ect ..

theres a reason men crawled in ditches, or only moved under the cover of armour, that advances into an area that been grid fired on by your spg and mortar crews, and every peice of cover is fired on, just to make sure, cause a good sniper squad can cause some serious losses, this video is full of rambos easily picked off by a well hidden and competant shooter.
Lol WW3 would be the worst if on a battlefield.. We have grenades now that can follow you like a fly to a turd aka drone's.. I don't even want to imagine what kind of automatic modern sniper rifle

Why? Picture-in-Picture scopes. It's just so much better - you still have peripheral vision, and it simply looks and works the same way as it does in reality. I am probably never looking back. I only know three more games (other than Insurgency series) that do this (haven't played any though):

Escape from Tarkov (this one is probably the most realistic scope depiction I ever saw in game)

I find long distance far too difficult with the Springfield. I’m fine with the kar98 but I find the targets are too small. Maybe I need glasses- or maybe I’m just shit😂
The Springfield only has I believe a 3× scope, while the Kar is an 8×. Sniping with the Kar is much better because of that lol
Is it my impression or the bullets seems to be way too fast, e.g. given the distance and the velocity they should take a little longer to hit the targets ?
IraqVeteran8888 has a lot of really good long range videos that perfectly demonstrate the time it takes for rounds to go long range, watch the plates instead of listening for sound. Bullets are wicked fast. If anything a lot of games slow them down too much.
Games usually exaggerate travel times of bullets for gameplay purposes. The average 5.56 travels at around 800-900m/s and engagement ranges in HLL are usually under 100m. This guy seems to be engaging around 130-170m, so travel should be less than a second.

I am so Sad about that in HLL that you only can have 2 Sniper and if you are so lucky that you can Open a Sniper Squad you cant even play as it just as a Spotter and some other dude can be the sniper... that sucks so hard never was able to play as a sniper...

It's hilarious seeing all the CoD guys in the comments like "[Yeah, this is absolutely better, because I'm getting huge kill streaks!!]" - because that's what defines a "good sniper game". I haven't personally played Hell Let Loose; but, from your gameplay, it doesn't come across all that realistic as a sniper. ARMA III is my go-to for sniper realism, as DayZ has lost its way.
