- Let the adventure continue as I off-road motorcycling through the heart of ICELAND - Part two - Ride With Locals The Girl On A Bike
As my number one riding country in the world, I’m back!! Follow my off-road adv motorcycle adventure in Iceland with this travel documentary style video. I was lucky enough to explore the heart of Iceland on a motorcycle with RideWithLocals. Riding the KTM EXCF 350 enduro motorcycle we travelled 200-240 kilometres each day off-road.
Iceland offers motorcycle riding experiences like nowhere else on Earth and I hope this video will help you see why! Footage is from my DJI, Mavic Air2 drone and iPhone.
Over 2.5 million tourists visit Iceland each year to see the big sights. Hot spas, waterfalls, glaciers, geysers, tectonic plates and lava fields. They pack into coaches or hire cars. But riding here with RideWithLocals on off-road bikes changes your perspective. We can discover the must-see spots from the less trodden tracks, skipping the crowds, and seeing things most tourists might only glimpse from the plane window. We rode up close to Hekla, slept below the Myrdalsjokull Glacier, recharged in an spa, explored huge craters without a soul in sight, picked across lava fields such as Veiðivatnahraun, crossed valley basins and crested mountains, riding volcanic ash berms. It was riding heaven combined with cultural and geological discovery: A trip only motorcycles can make possible.
Trip highlights:
• Town of Selfoss,
• Mt Hekla
• Hjálparfoss
• Gjáin
• Háifoss
• Þórisvatn Lake
• Jökulheimar Mountain Hut
• Veiðivatnahraun Lava Field
• Veiðivötn Lake Area
• Hrauneyjar Power Stadion
• Rjúpnavellir Mountain Hut
• Ljótipollur volcano crater
• Hnausapollur Volcano crater
• Hungurfit Mountain Hut
• Glaciers
• Landmannalaugar Geothermal Area
• Langisjór Lake
• Eldgjá, a canyon, and volcano
• Eldgjá
• Langisjór Lake
• Breiðbakur Mountain
• Blautulón Lake
• Mýrdalsjökull.
• Mælifell volcano mountain
• Mælifellssandur.
• Markafljót canyon.
We did the trip with RideWithLocals, the only Icelandic enduro company and based just a 2h 45min flight from the UK. A fully-inclusive motorcycle Iceland trip on KTM EXCFs with a support vehicle, fuel, food, mountain hut accommodation, trail snacks, beer and all the local gen from the Vikings running it. We had six days riding, covered roughly 1400km doing 9 to 11- hour riding days and got to see the real Iceland - which is unseen by most tourists. Expect to pay around €4400 per person. www.ridewithlocals.is

Hi Vanessa, another great video, great content, especially your giving us an explanation of the local geographical features. That all adds to the adventure you take us on. Keep up the good work.
Aw yey thank you so much, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed the video, mega appreciate you watching
freaking love your videos amazing content
Aw dude. Thank you. I really means a lot to me thank you
sounds wild in a calm way
I think that is the perfect description!
so flat...rolling hills...shallow water crossings...black sand...and no trees...like another world up there...great ride...thanks for bringing me along!
Yeah like multiple different planets in one place hehe. Incredible place
Okay, I have to interrupt the video to jot down my remarks:
1) That double pack of girlish-force of nature seems to have overcome the Viking cool of some Vikings there, I think I saw one of them swallow hard at some point. 🤭
2) For questions about exact geological developments, you know a certain motorcycling force of nature lady you can ask. She's in Africa at the moment. 🤗
3) That volcano that erupted in 2014 is he Barðabunga. And the collapsed domes of volcanoes are called Calderas and I learnt that from Miss 2) and that leads me to 4)!
4) I knew sumfink!!1! 🤗 **Wooop!!1!**
This was wonderful! 🤩
Thank you
The small, round and crater-like formations in the lavafield, we (IK am a local) call pseudo-craters. They were formed when the lava-flow was only semi-hard and a bubble of gasses and steam got out with a blast, creating a pseudo-crater. Thanks for the beautiful and fun video, thanks for your nice words about my country. Safe trails.
Oh mega cool, thanks for sharing
Another top video Vanessa, it looked like a super fun trip out and about on the KTM. Whoop! I have to make it to Iceland at some point as it's already on my bucket list.
You should! You'll love it!!
Epic trip and thanks for the heads up on the riding company, they look awesome.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. You'll love Iceland
Wow! I think I will go back to Iceland!
Definitely! My favorite country in the world!
Sad to hear that 😢 hope everything's fine ❤
Thank you
You're good, Vanessa! And I love what you do, but the sound on this clip was mostly subpar making me jump out way before the end.
However, it is easy to understand your love for Iceland and the riding there.
I am sorry to hear that, thank you for the feedback, is there a particluar element to the sound that you can pinpoint so i can make adjustments for future videos, e.g quality, music volume, speech volume etc? Any advice is always welcome
I got back in a few days later, Vanessa @@TheGirlOnABike . Yes it was worse than I'm used to, but Iceland is flat and open (and perhaps even windy) so I do have to acknowledge that and accept it. I was also quite stressed after a day at work that was way worse than your day, and that can have added to my experience of the clip. I'll leave it as it is, and recognize that you are not recording from an armchair in a studio.
In general, Vanessa, you are doing way more than fine! So don't fret it!
@@JEmmertz thanks dude, i mega appreciate your support and as i said any feedback is always welcome 🙂
are there volcanoes going off all the time ?
Yeah this particular energy point goes off daily which is why there is a daily flood! It's not a huge eruption but it's happening lots
What kind of speeds were you riding on the dirt roads?
Anywhere up to probably 90km I'd say. Depending on the terrain
I've noticed you keep replying to people's comments with incorrect information please can you refrain from this as it's miss leading. I can reply myself with accurate information ❤️
Sorry, not sure what you mean, I've only asked about how fast you were riding. Did I miss something? @TheGirlOnABike

@@RobHaut sorry dude that was not directed at you but towards Tambovwolf , sorry for the confusion there

Yeah just finished the Africa Eco Race following the original Dakar route
