Her performance in Hereditary is incredible. A passionately daring and emotional portrayal of a woman on the brink of psychological destruction. It’s the best female performance in an American film in 15years.
Come Awards season, if her name isn’t mentioned on all the ballots, there will be hell to pay.
Not surprised by her performance because she was also great in The Sixth Sense. She didn't win that Oscar for that performance but let's hope she gets it for this movie.

I watch alot of movies but i dont watch alot of interviews and talk shows. I had no idea that this amazing actress wasnt american. Mind is blown. She gives the best acting performances and she does it in a different accent than her own. Talent.
@@Ahbenmautadine same!!! I’ve watched her for years and neverrrrrr picked up that she had an accent. And I usually try to figure this out for all actors. Even Colin Farrell was a hard one for me as a kid figuring that out. 😅
@@Ahbenmautadine I first saw her in Wanderlust and thought she her regular speaking voice Brittish and then I saw her be interview and it humbly surprised me. Great range.

Toni Collette interviews well. When she's with others (Graham Norton, anyone?), she makes comments instead of sitting off to the side, trying not to be bored. I enjoy listening to her.

I love Graham Norton. I love that he has everyone on together. I love that he has a wicked sense of humor (or perhaps I should say humour). I love that he knows when to let madness reign and when to corral his guests. He’s amazing!

She's such an extraordinary and underrated actress, I can't believe she has just ONE Oscar nomination after Muriel's Wedding, Velvet Goldmine, The Dead Girl, Little Miss Sunshine and many other incredible performances. Go get that Oscar!

I used to think she was American, too. I watched the animated film Mary & Max, in which Toni did the voice of an Australian character, and I actually wondered at the time why they didn't cast a real Australian for the part.
Your comment reminds me of a Roma Downey interview. Long before she starred on Touched By An Angel, she auditioned for Irish Springs (the bar of soap) commercial. They turned her down as they thought her Irish accent was fake. They wanted a real Irish voice!

I watched Hereditary (by force, my son insisted) and didn't enjoy the movie. What I can't get out of my mind however is her performance. Doing a little research today and am absolutely charmed by this actor, on and off screen. Great work Collette and keep it going!

I never miss Stephen Colbert's show and so it was a double treat to see a fellow Aussie being interviewed by him, especially someone as nice and natural as Toni Collette. I love that she's doing so well in her career; she's one very talented young lady and I'm very proud of her..
I did not know she was an Aussie. I really love the Australian accent it’s beautiful. Toni seriously threw me off I thought she was a Canadian or American. She is an excellent actress and I love her as my top fav actresses.
Muriel's Wedding was the best movie ever. United States of Tara was the best series ever. She is just the best!

I tried using my Mom's rouge to make my eyes look 'red and puffy' as part of my 'get out of school ' scheme when I was 10 or so, and she sent me to school with it on. She took a picture of it that still hangs on her stairway wall. It taunts me every time I visit.

I didn't want to go to a company conference, so pretended I hurt my leg, but the boss refused point blank to a refusal, even insisting on picking me up and driving me there himself. So I had to bandage my leg (thinking I could sit it out at the back). What he did not tell me was that I had won an award, so then I had to limp all the way from the back to the front of the room in front of everyone, then remember to do the same thing on the way back. He even fetched a chair for me to sit on while I received it. Still burns my cheeks red :} :} :}

She is absolutely right it is way harder to act scared when you're not, then it is to act scary. I act sometimes at a haunted house, and let me tell you, scaring people is super easy. Do spooky things, in spooky environments, you get a good amount of scares. Trying to act scared is way more difficult, and I respect anyone who has that talent. I can see why directors do tactics to actually scare actors while filming, fear is very hard to replicate and have it look genuine.
It’s so weird to see her so happy and giggly, and then see her in Hereditary. Gotta stan!
I thought I was desensitised to horror movies after watching so many, but as an adult, this movie gave me the same experience watching the exorcist movie gave me when I was a teenager. Incredibly well made, raw and scary without pulling any punches. Amazing performance by Toni and the rest of the cast. 4 years later and I'm still waiting for a horror movie even close to how good hereditary was.
