This movie may not have been a huge summer blockbuster but for those who have seen it Toni Collette will stay in their hearts and minds forever. It's brilliant and it's almost like the role was made for her. Love her
I saw this film in the theater when it first came out, and it made me laugh and cry then, and it makes me laugh and cry now. One of the best movies of all time.
I saw the film when it came out and Muriel reminded me of myself so much I never wanted to see it again. I have just watched it and now all these years later how through tragedy and suffering one grows up. I loved it this time. As you see my name is Muriel.
Toni Collette.....LOVE EVERY MOVIE you're in. LOVE YOUR WORK.
I'm American. One of my favorite films and one of my favorite actresses.
The saddest comedy film ever!
This was awesome. Thank you so much for posting.
Oh I agree!!! I’m American too! It’s a teen classic for me. I’ve seen it 800 times.
Nice one Toni. Its that humility that makes her so well loved around the world.
GIVE HER A DAMN OSCAR
Shes still the same down to earth aussie girl who doesn't mind throwing fuck into a sentence. Nothing but admiration.
I'm just seeing this now, three years later, but I'm so excited to know that Toni loves Muriel as much as we do . On my short list of favorites.
OMG...Amazing...one of my all time favs. Toni killed it as Muriel. Oscar-worthy performance. And the funniest sex scene ever.
Loved Muriel's Wedding. Toni is such a versatile actress
Thanks for Muriel Toni Colette. Amazing movie ams great acting.
I love this film so much after my first time watching during my high school. This movie really moved me and I was in a very low self esteem especially about my body shape at that time . I kept watching it over four times from that time till now
I adore this movie and in particular the Waterloo scene. It's brilliant! I googled how long it took to get it just right. Well, 10 hours later they got it just perfect! It truly is the saddest comedy movie ever!
Whoever was in charge of casting this movie is a genius!
A movie I have watched thousands of times and could watch a million more. I still believe there will be a sequel one day.
Why? Sequels are shit 90 percent of the time. Just let it be a classic.
Love all the cast. Toni collette is genius.
It's not just the saddest, but also the best ever.
This movie is even more touching to those who have already been "Muriel".
Fantastic interviewer
She is such a good actress. One of the few really.
I'm an American, and before Muriel's Wedding had no experience really with Australian Cinema. It not only helped me fall in love with the amazing Toni Collette, but Australian Cinema in general
A fella I know once found himself beside Toni Collette in a Dublin shop queue. After the standard double take, he went, "Good film."
"Thanks," she said, with a smile, "I was in other ones too."
I love you, Toni! FOR EVER. YOU INSPIRED ME.
I went to this. It was GREAT! Watching the movie again in a movie house, listening to Toni and Daniel. And meeting them at the end.
I just watched it again! Love it again.
watched this again last night! all time favourites! from N.L. Canada. Toni Collette is so right for that award! that movie will live on forever!
It is bitter/sweet; moved me
Muriel's Wedding was loosely based on a Tweed Heads political family in Northern New South Wales. Though it was shot in Coolangatta, the borderside town in Queensland, which they called Porpoise Spitt. I used to play pool with the guy who is portrayed as the crazy son in the movie. Wasn't far off the mark.
It was based on the Producer PJ Hogan's family .. he explained it in the 30ith Reunion doc
_You can't type but you really made me cry... Beautiful!_
What an amazing, authentic, interesting personality she is. Love her beyond words.
I am French I saw the movie at cinema 29 years ago now. It was so raw, and Muriel is so real compare to other charactere. Toni Colette is one of the greatest actress and she still looks so down to earth. Probably the Australian accent help. And she is one of the actress which show than beauty don't need to be standardise. She is unique and on the screen she is glowing.
Muriel did so many thoughtless, selfish, cruel things. But I could see where it was all coming from. I've been the outsider. She finally learned, the hard way, to say, FUCK EM. & really mean it.And became the good, less shallow person she really was. I did too. P J Hogan is TALENT. TgT
From Germany.... 99% of Australien films are GREAT! Muriel's Wedding belongs to the best films ever! "Upright" is also a film I never forget - but the marvelouse Australien films (shown in Germany) go bak to the 1970s! Toni was SOOO wonderful in her film (and all the other actors too -especially her "dad").
I watched a doco with Benny and Björn who originally were not going to let them use their music but eventually did and I quote Benny “ I REALLY LIKED that movie, really liked it”
This film came up on UA-cam and what a treat, loved every second of it...I went to see it in the Cinema, with my older sister, who had came back from Sydney. We watched it here in Ireland when it was released, all them years ago...My three sisters lived in Australia for a few years, when they were in their early twentieth....This film has all the elements, sad, happy, great story line...Watch and enjoy. Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚
Smashing film, one of my all times faves for sure.
My most favourite film ever! I'd love a sequel as it's been over 25 years and would love to know what Muriel and Rhonda have been up to
I really liked that movie and i really like Toni Colette. She is an amazing actress.
Love Toni, she is amazing
My favorite actress in my favorite movie!
I love this movie, I watch it quite often. It’s true, it is the saddest comedy ever. My favorite humorous scene is when Muriel and Bryce are getting it on, and the birdcage is accidentally pushed through the glass window. the two military guys, that Ronda is fucking in the other room, hear the commotion and come out completely stark naked, to try to “rescue” Muriel 🤣 Muriel’s reaction is priceless.
@@Ezraforprez That would’ve been one hell of a different movie.
“YA CAN’T STOP INCEST!”
@Owen. K yes but that’s what I love about the movie: life changes on a dime and the scene is unpredictable and real
Love this movie. Love Toni !!!
The greatest dark comedy film of all time. It should be mandatory for every film student.
Just watched this a couple of nights ago. It’s one of my favourites . Have watched it so many times. I love all the actors. Tfs
Toni Collette is a good Australian actress. She good at doing comedy movie and drama movie. She made alot of good movies like Muriel's Wedding and The Sixth Sense.
While I know it changed Toni`s life I do think the movie was only just a Step into the world of cinema...because if you look at the movies and tv she has done all of her BIG work was done many years after the movie was released...it gave her the leg up and her talent actually got her where she is
just image the thousands of people who are fabulous actors but they do not get lucky with a role that gets them properly noticed
Love Toni Collette. And Muriel.
Coolness ~ I LOVED This Movie!
This movie was very good, because it shows what it's like to be the girl who everyone walks on. The character of the father was very narcissistic, and in this film, we can see how this impacts Murial. And she played the role so empathetically. Every cast member did a terrific job, and made their characters more three dimensional, so to speak. This also shows the great work that the director had done. A lot of insight bringing these characters and their situations to life. Even the hair pulling during the fight scene. Seemed like the real deal 🤣 So many deeply sad moments, yet also some very encouraging breaths of fresh air, because this film is just so relatable. 👌
Makes me proud to be Aussie🇦🇺 REAL Characters acting as human beings- true human beings not fake people living in a big world 🌍 even though she was trying to escape herself and her life and even her (poor unfortunate, old fashioned name!)
One of my favoriete movies all time💯👍🥰
I so love that movie, my favorite part was the scene before the singing to Waterloo when the truth was told about chuck and then during the singing the fight broke out. Toni Collette is an amazing actress and then later seeing her in United State of Tara and watching her many change in characters made me see how even more talented she is. She has been in many films that made me search for the tissue she has an awesome personality and a great sense of humor.
I remember another Toni Collette movie she did with Cameron Diaz where her character got married and I shouted "MURIEL FINALLY GOT MARRIED!"🤩
i just adore her. such a great talented actress!
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO TONI COLLETE WAS UNTIL I'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE, I KNOW I'VE SEEN HER SEVERAL TIMES AND NEVER PAID ATTENTION TO HER UNTIL I'VE SEEN MURIEL'S WEDDING. I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED SHE IS UNTIL I'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE FEW WEEKS AGO
God, tell me about it! after watching unbelievable, where she is in, i have watched multiple other films, like 'in her shoes' and the sixth sense. She is defenitely my girl crush 🩵🩵
My wife and loved this film she died but her name was Toni❤❤❤
THE LOVE I'VE SENT IS FROM FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA, USA ❣❣❣ GOD BLESS ❣
I love hearing Toni Colette’s speaking voice, this was amazing! The bit where she got emotional was so sweet 🍕 x
I'VE LOVED TONI COLLETTE THROUGH OUT HER AMAZING ACTING CAREER ❣❣❣ MURIELS WEDDING IS ONE OF HER BEST MOVIES 🥰❤❣❣❣❣
I love this movie! Discovered it with my mom a loooong time ago😉
Oh, watched it ( full on UA-cam...), last night. And it's still going strong.
one of my fave movies, it is one of those like he says that is very funny but also very sad and makes you thankful you were not born into that family haha I do remember this being released because here in the UK it was made a big deal...look this Australian movie and its fantastic
where as before movies from Australia were not fondly looked upon I do not think
This film certainly made her famous internationally. I've seen him in several movies and shows too.
I forgot Toni was presented with that award that night.... 😂 happy for her. 😪 tears of joy. And hearing her reaction, ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Toni Collette is a fabulous actress and one I just recently rediscovered, happily ! I have watched some films with T.C. but actually can’t remember which ones right now. I am on the last episode of “ UNBELIEVABLE “ that is based on a true story about a serial rapist in Washington State and Colorado and everything these women have gone through. She steals the show in this series and I think it’s one of her best ever.
Five out of five star’s for her portrayal of a determined, sharp , tough character who I loved that character. TBH her character in THIS series reminds me of myself AFTER I learned to finally speak up and be more myself!
Love Muriel’s Wedding , many young girls dreams. Are reflected in that movie.👍🏻
Toni the right person for this movie!!
Played to perfection.
I have just read the book....
Takes me back (a long time ago) to 17 years age when THE only goal was to find a husband.
Adele
I am so glad I saw the film. It was so relatable. I would have loved to see more of the stars here.😊❤️
I love her to pieces! ❤
Can’t tell you how many times I have watched this movie it’s beautiful encompasses so much and my favorite I cry as well cry is when they sing ever one of my favorite Groups, do you have a nail alba and how the friendship Manifest, evolves with hardship and love my two daughters love it as well. I just saw it again about a month and a half ago thank you for all the time and energy all of you… i’m 54 now I washed it when I first came out again just so overwhelmingly emotional but also comical. 😍😭
They have some really good actors in Australia, someone should write a road trip comedy in oz with Nicole, Toni, Cate, Margo, Rebel and Chris Helmsworth, etc.
I love her~!!
I love ❤ the Australian accent
Love all the movie.
words cannot explain how much i love her. i knew her from the show 'unbelievable' and fell in love with her. so i watched a couple other movies/series she has been in and my love grew, she is just soo beautiful and i'm in love with her. i hope i can meet her one day 😭💗💗💗

Actually some of the car scenes were filmed going past Palm Beach and Elanora. The Pines shopping Centre is included too.
Love Toni
Toni is gorgeous ❤
I love this movie lol was my favourite movie at 9 years old
I’m such a huge fan. While working at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills..I was booked to do a massage for Toni... she missed the appointment no one from the desk called her room to see if she was in her way..didn’t want to disturb a celebrity.
When she remembered she’d missed she called to apologize and asked but why didn’t you call me ... OMG I woulda of loved to have given her talented body a massage..
I woulda totally geeked out in fandom.
I’ve seen LITERALLY every thing she’s been in ❤❤❤❤❤
That film single handedly changed ABBA music from being corny to being hip!
Love Toni, loved the film at the time. want to watch it again. I always say 'you are terrible Muriel' to my friends when they do something bad, haha
best movie ever
Toni Collette though. 😍
Its perfect
What a Great movie ❤️
Love from Liverpool
Love Toni Colette.
she should be in cons, id love to meet her
Très bon film
Thật sự là mình rất thích âm nhạc những năm trước đây hơn là những bài hát hot hit hiện giờ. Kèm theo giọng hát của Đức Phúc thì ôi trời siêu hay luôn
I first saw her in a TV show where she played the president 's doctor. She and her family were held hostage in their home by a group who wanted her to kill the president during an upcoming surgery. I believe Dylan McDermott was also in it. It was an incredible storyline. She is a good actress.
I just wonder if they get bored talking about the film. I think TC does a bit. That said, I never get tired watching it. I saw it October 1994 - I was actually going to see a famous movie called The Shawshank Redepmtion and I missed the start. So we ended up watching this...back in the day. I created a memory from then encoded with wonder, joy, fun, sadness, and laughter from watching Muriels Wedding. I will be for ever bias towards Toni Collieti as a result. To me, it is Austrailia's eqivalent of Trainspotting.
Muriel's Wedding remains my all time favourite Australian film.
I can’t decide between Muriel’s Wedding, The Castle and Pricilla Queen of the Desert.
