- The Special Poperations Tier 5 Heli and the Marine in BTD6 are absolutely amazing! This tower costs only about $30k but for that amount it comes with a lot of benefits, and when you properly buff it with the right ttowers i destroys everything by itself in Bloons TD 6!

If I recall the transition from Downdraft to Chinook is more than just the Vital Supplies and Redeploy abilities: the blowback happens more often, and affects twice as much, and the main dart damage upped from 1 to 2.

@@overbakedbreadroll2918 a mix of a massive nerf heavily nerfing the downdrafts attack speed+pierce, and a healthy amount of buffs to top path druid of the syotm basically made it an obsolete tower

Honestly I think they should just make the Marine permanent when placed, but double the cooldown, and using the cooldown again will move the Marine instead of placing another one, that way it's not that much micro.
Similar to the master builder main sentries!

That's not always desirable. Mid heli is great on Muddy Puddles, for instance, and marine needs to be on a new lane every round.
if you ever feel lazy just remember that the special poperations icon is the same as the elite defender monkeys trading card but recolored
Yep. I say it every time the topic comes up. Mid heli is crazy underrated. And its twice as good outside of CHIMPS where it makes $6k every ability use.
Disregarding income, mid heli has about as much popping power per $ spent as the other two helis IF you use marine on cooldown.
And then there's all the beautiful doorgunner options.
This tower is actually my strategy for going ultra late game because it carries for a long time so it gives time for farming
Edit: i forgot to mention, but another reason this is such a good strategy is that this tower eventually pays for its self as long as your not playing on chimps, which not a lot of people do in ultra late game.

marine should get permanently placed, you use a button in the ui to move it like you move any other tower, and the ability lets you place a second marine for 5 seconds every 25 seconds. boom fixed
Exactly, technically this would be a small nerf as you can no longer have 2 marines on the screen, but I doubt that would change the DPS too much.
That would just make it incredibly boring imo. It's okay to have some micro towers for the players that enjoy it. My actual issue with marine is Chinook being so minimally useful in chimps.

@@FrostyTheCookie actually great news. i just got off the phone with ninjakiwi and they said they’re gonna make every tower work like marine just for you. so basically the towers dont do anything unless you activate an ability every 30 seconds, also every ability has it’s own icon so you have to click each one individually. you’re gonna have so much fun

transforming tonic does 100 dps, has concoction, is cheaper, but has much less pierce and worse damage per hit (3 every 0.03 seconds)

There are pros and cons about this tower compared to heli, its upgrade is rather cheap but slightly weaker, with less uptime then heli, but gets way better value out of damage buffs, but could be spammed in order have full uptime in a way, or all used at once to shred high hp moabs, or just homeland could be effective. Ethan should test this.

The main reason I've used this tower is for its lucrative crates, especially on boss events. I've used the marine to clear up a round more quickly where time penalties exist, such as ranked boss modes and CT Boss tiles.
I love the special popperations because of the door gunner ability that thing is so cool
I've been saying the same thing. Support chinook is my favorite upgrade path. I love being able to pick up troops to go with the heli. Sometimes I go moab glue until I have enough money for a dark champion.

i always use it. brewed up and overclocked 3-0-2 super monkey as the door gunner in pursuit mode
maybe this could quite well with energizer since it's a pretty solid cleanup tower, decreases marine cooldown and it might help with levelling rosalia
What Kiwi could do is have it so the marine is pernamently out (since u can already do that and even have 2 for a short duration) but u can freely move the tower with the ability. So it stays there unless u move it with the ability
Marine is awesome but the saveup is a little annoying. I would only really use it if I already wanted to use chinook most of the time
Because in live fire environments you rarely have the time and money to deploy this thing in time to prevent a loss. If the price wasn't so high, yes, I would use it more often. Unfortunately all the helicopter upgrades tend to be a wee bit too expensive to be anything but niche strategy. Once I get 302 and 203 that's about all I use it for, sometimes I'll go for that ~20k just to go Apache, but it's usually the last upgrade I do after all the other stuff I have to have up first to deal with the blitz waves.
unless you only play on medium difficulty you have more than enough cash to afford the T5 helis. a hard difficulty game gives a total of a little under 100k cash and a game of chimps/impoppable is a little under 180k. Tier 5 helis are absolutely affordable since they cost between 50k-70k and are a very viable DPS option on a lot of maps. Even with the total cost in mind the inbetween upgrades of Commanche/Dartship are still very good and usually allow for an easy saveup to the Tier 5s which provide very good DPS for the rest of the game
not having to sell towers to replace/fix/create space for other towers is a pretty good ability on my book, i normally use t5 when im going for 205 villages(round 200+ or bosses) to get discounts for farms and low range/expensive towers so just a bit longer duration would help a lot
i feel like if it was a window gunner whenever it's off cooldown and then the ability just places it or something similar would help reduce micro
I think the problem with mid heli is similar to what happened with mid mortar
For reference: middle path mortar didn’t have an ability till much later which left the tier 4 as a very awkward stepping stone to the tier 5.
Obviously the tier 4 heli has an ability, 2 even, but it has no equivalent to the marine which makes the transition super awkward
I use special poperations in almost every game that i plan on going to round 300 on. 250 heli, doorgunner on a 302 or 320 supermonkey thats been permabrewed, a techbot for marine, a 250 druid, also with techbot for money, and then whatever other situational stuff.

I do like door gunner on that thing. Most of the time i put there some low ranged tower like 204 tack or 4xx ice for that extra damage everywhere. Kinda wish they gave 4th tier door gunner ability too. really useful. Sadly its behind MK.
I think that the Marine can be deployed twice at the same time when all cooldown reductions are in play. Correct me if I'm wrong I'm just speculating

Honestly just make it so the ability deploys the marine where you want and it lasts forever and it reusing it just allows to move the marine. It would technically be a nerf but it would be such a QoL upgrade and I don't really see the value in having to redeploy it over and over again (especially since the tower already has two abilities with the chinhook)
I feel like the 205 sniper is better with more range and no micro needed, it can also be buffed and its cheaper.
Rosalia's weapon switch should be on the bottom ability bar, it would make it a lot easier to micro

Wouldn't having the 500 sub give the ability a faster cool down so you can have 2 of them for a longer overlap, possibly even 3

I think it’d be great if the marine stayed on screen infinitely but only one can be placed. That way you don’t have to press the ability every time

The marine already has basically infinite uptime so they should just get rid of the ability to drop it and have it auto place when you upgrade to 5th tier. Don’t like where it auto places? Thankfully you just purchased a tower with the ability to move the marine where you want it
It has the same problem blooncin has, where a support tower needs a lot of money to turn into a damage tower, so the saveup to it is harder than going for a damage tower that has a decently damaging tier 4
Easy solution, get a strong save up like comdef, bads or artillery batt

The marine is a good damage tower, but the stepping stones are quite the opposite. It’s a really weird transition

Marine is pretty strong, but there are way better options for that price. Besides I just dislike the heli's in general, I used to like apache prime but that one fell of hard.

Too many abilities that clutter the screen and also not a fan of its mechanics, like it's trying to be too many things at once. The only cool thing about it is the ability to reposition towers imo and I'd rather have a tower that focuses on just utility instead of being supply drop elite defender hybrid

Bottom crosspath gives extra slow which is important in late game against super ceramics, while the corrosive effect is nice early on but is less useful for later rounds. The +1 damage buff is the same

Just used 052 heli this morning is normal challenge to 100.
It does nothing until tier 5, which is why nobody wants to use this tower
Chinook leaves 2500 MM creates and lives, I use it a lot in bosses because you can easily get lots of them to get crazy amounts of lives and cash
I mean the tier 3 is a really nice and strong upgrade which was nerfed a few times already
T3 is really good for early game bloon leaks. T4 is a bit more situational but it gives a good amount of cash and gives the ability to move towers which could be very useful when fighting Lych.

Funny thing that I dont remember the last time I used top path heli other than middle or bottom haha
bottom path is actually way better than apache prime in every way, and apache prime is probably one of the worst tier 5s in the entire game because it doesnt do anything well if the map has more than one path, and the middle path does almost more dps with constant redeployment, but also makes it almost impossible to leak any fortified ceramics/small bloons
apache prime been the worst ever since ComCom got all those buffs and middle has always been good due to redeployment and downdraft stall
