We never started taking longevity for granted. We ALWAYS did.

The majority of the “longevity” in the league has derived from a combination of not consistently playing as hard as previous eras and easier season schedules compared to previous eras.

Proper injury management leads to longer primes and careers, who could’ve thought!

@@MunchCrunchTime Unless it’s an injury that requires surgery, rest and rehab is all they do. Rest and rehab is nothing new. Avoiding injury in the first place through a less intense workload and less consistently intense performance is what is new. It isn’t a criticism of the current era. It is merely pointing out the differences between then and now.

@@angelfebus1732but the younger generation keeps getting hurt. If that’s the case these younger guys should be playing more games than what they are. In the last 5 years we can’t get more than 5 players to play all 82. But the rest and medicine is supposed to be better

We can’t sit here and act like the rule changes haven’t made it easier for these guys to extend their prime. When the game is less physical and you can’t bump and hold guys and they get phantom calls that the guys in the 90s never got and you can sit back and jack up 10 3s per game game, than it’s no surprise that the top scorers can stretch out their careers. We are in an era of inflated scoring stats. Now I’m not saying we can’t credit these guys for taking care of themselves cuz I’d be biased if I didn’t. But I would also be biased if I completely ignored the fact that these guys can extend their career cuz scoring is easier. Kobe and Mj didn’t have that luxury.
Lastly t there’s too much smoke around lebron and these PED’s. I don’t want to cause an all time great of anything like this but at this point we have to question what’s going on. I’m not saying throw accusations but to simple question it. We can’t sit here and just accept the old “he spend a money on his body.” Like Steph and kd don’t have the money the money and aren’t willing to spend whatever to be better players. There’s a good chance Lebron on might be using these substances we can’t just sit here and act like it’s not happening. What he’s doing does not seem to be natural ppl have to learn to think for themselves and do critical thinking and not just take what they tv and media tells them as fact.
