@@timschull9707 I’m still trying to figure out how much I need in wood and how to get the dimensions because you go so fast it’s hard for me to get that my best to work with and get the best idea but obviously this is a little complicated for me when I’m just learning how to
I think both have their places, the potential for adding lights or making small additional decorations is pretty awesome. If you have a family of woodworkers it would be a super cool idea to make one of these and have everyone make their own personal ornament for it!
The finished product looks really good. I built six trees and added a bit to secure them solidly to the ground using rebar, which is a good thing because we are getting strong winds tonight and they are holding up quite well. The trees are lit by green LED solar lights at night. I thought I could add photos to YT comments, but I guess not. Anyway, we and the neighborhood LOVE these trees. Thank you again.
I remember you saying that you were going to do this. Feel free to send the pictures to my email address CedarRiverWoodworking@gmail.com I'll post it up in my community tab if you would like.
Star first. I like the natural look of wood (dad was a woodworker- paint was a sin in our house 😂). Wish he was still around so I could show him what I've made by watching these videos.
I love the way you did the diagonals!! Using the straight edge vs pre cutting the angles is genius! I love both trees!! Thanks for sharing Andy! Off to watch the star video!
I must admit when I saw the thumbnail i was expecting a tabletop ornament. So much potential here. Without the base, in smaller homes this could be hung on the wall, or in an entry or high traffic area in a larger home, even outside. Great design. Thank you for sharing.
My wife likes the painted one the best and so do I so that's the one I'll be building! Really appreciate the video. It's well presented and easy to follow!!
Just bought your plans and intend to build a number of trees to line our long driveway for the upcoming Christmas. I might experiment with paint colors of lighter and darker greens to see if I can create an 'natural' looking effect. Thank you for the simple build design that will definitely complement our country holiday decor.
Nice to see you here. I'm amazed at the reach of these videos, but I'm even more amazed when I see someone from my home town. You'll have to send me some pictures of the trees you made.
Hey Andy, I'm here in North East Texas and just wanted to thank you for the build instructions, took a shot at it and the 54° star today too and after about 3.5hrs and some miter saw calibration (didn't realized I was half a degree out of wack and it definitely showed up in my star) I had it done, used a 6ft aluminum Empire ruler for my circular saw to make the taper cuts. You've been a big inspiration for me as a beginner woodworker!
I plan on tackling this project in a couple of days. I like both trees. I'll be painting the one I'm building, dark green with dark red diagonal pieces. Thank you for the plans.
@@Gozeto17 To do that use material that is less wide. so instead of a 3.5" width, you could use a 2" width. your measurement will change (the one that I call out as being 6"). just measure the already cut side and use that as your measurement to cut the first 36 degree angle.
@@cedarriverwoodworking yes sir.!! That's exactly what I was going to try. I did a scetch and found the dimensions change depending on the width of the work piece.
Just came across your videos. I love the trees ! Both of them, you can personalize your tree to the person on the receiving end. Video is easy to follow with use of basic tools ✔
The tree video popped up in my list first! I will be looking for the star video. To support you I will be purchasing the plans when they are available. Thanks for the video!
I appreciate the support and look forward to seeing you on the other video too. Plans are being made now. You can also support via being a member as well.
This video came up so I am watching this one first. I like both but the painted one definitely more Christmas, although I am partial to the natural wood grain.
Great design and build. I like the red and white version best. I just think it would be more sellable. Will watch the "star" next. A shout out from Houston, Texas via Little Rock, Arkansas.
Truthfully I like them both, but the red & white just make it look even better (in my opinion)!! & I also love all the Christmas Tree builds you do year after year too! 👍💯 🎄⭐️
Hello Andy, thank you for the video. First time viewer. I like the natural look. Love the ease of the using the straight edge. Way easier then making all sorts for angel cuts on the miter saw. Just a thought here.... film your project and do voice over with direction/commentary. Again, just a thought. I'll be watching more of your project videos. Happy holidays from So. Cal. 🎅
Hey Andy awesome build. I was wondering if you run all the edges with a round over bit on front and back I think it would make it easy on the hands to pick up and give it more of a wraparound look maybe. I’m sure going to build a dew of those for the wife
Great work I saw this video before the star video and I like both trees, LoL. Raw clear protective finish for me, but the kids would prefer the painted tree
