The story of Metal Gear Rising Revengance is about a man traveling across the country with his dog. The story of Bayonetta is about a woman discovering herself. The story of Ninja Gaiden is about an agent who doesn’t know what an L is
Everything sounds epic on paper, except execution is just terrible, afterall, the fantasy service and combat system are the only reason people play these games for
Honestly, that scene of Dante standing up through Alastor always makes me feel uncomfortable because it makes me think about that sword, including the hilt, going through Dante's spine
I’m uncomfortable trying to figure the logistics of how Dante is supposed to work, I’m ending it at somehow holding different laws of psychics. The amount of energy needed to do those transformations would need nuclear levels of energy he’s not getting from pizza and those blob enemies. How does he shrink down to a smaller state? Is he extremely dense inside when human?
@Journey Awaits It's Devil Magic. No physics required since he can generate that energy from nowhere. Alternatively, one could suppose that Dante uses the Red Orbs as a source of energy, but there's little evidence for this.
As a DMC vet, I feel like you truly GOT the series. The story is arguably not be the most important element, but it's still an integral part that has meaningfully added to the experience and is a big part of why so many love it.
You do such an amazing job picking apart the essence of the games you cover, from both the standpoint of the developers and the players. This video is a work of art and I hope it gets to the audience it deserves. Thank you for making this. (Also the start of the DMC 4 section had me rolling lmao)
You've actually helped me realize something. In a very key way, Devil May Cry has A LOT in common with the Yakuza series--most especially Yakuza 0! An argument often made and that I agree with is that the wacky, over the top, larger than life nature of Yakuza is precisely what allows it to be a sincere, heartfelt, *human* story. I've realized it's practically the very same with Devil May Cry: its over-the-top, larger than life, *crazy* energy is the very thing that enables it to come across as sincere when it means to. You spend more than plenty of time riding the highs. You participate in the wackiest shenanigans, have some laughs, and engage in some of the coolest combat you'll ever experience. It really lets you bond with the characters. So much so that when things take a dark turn, when things spiral out of the heroes' hands and hit their lowest, heart-wrenching moments, you're right there with them, and you really *feel* it.
One of my favorite things about this series is how Itsuno understood that even in the games we hated there were little nuggets of goodness that should be celebrated.
For Real It's amazing how much DMC: Devil May Cry's Vergil influenced DMC4SE's Vergil. From the extended Yamato combos, teleporting summoned swords and the most amazing addition: Just Frame Judgment Cuts. It fits Vergil so much that you would be forgiven if you forgot that DMC3 doesn't have it.
@@FredMaverik What are you on about? DMC3 Vergil doesn't have those things I mentioned. That's what I'm trying to say. Those moves are so natural on Vergil that it feels like DMC3 Vergil also has those moves, but he doesn't. It's amazing when game developers extend a moveset that fully serves to expand their characterization.
I remember seeing DMC5's first trailer, and immediately gaining interest in the game. Unfortunately my mind was only used to mushou games and got my ass kicked in the demo and didnt picked it up for a while. Now 4 years later I finished 5, am saving up for the collection and 4, and am a certified Vergil fangirl. Seeing how other people grew up with a franchise I now love that's about as old as myself is really wonderful thing. Also thanks for the long form DMC content that's like crack cocaine for me

I suspect this channel is probably going to blow up in a really major way. If and when it does, it will be very deserved. I can’t wait to see more from you. Thank you for the awesome video.
Incredibly well-edited and absolutely genuine. DMC has been my favorite series since childhood and I could NOT stop smiling through this whole video. You get it, even if it's new to you.

Never seen your videos before and this popped up in my recommended and I watched the whole thing, incredibly well edited! I thought you were gonna hate on DMC or something at first haha. I also recently played all the DMC games for the first time, so happy I had my best friend introduce me to a genre I never really knew and now I find myself looking for more! Great video :)

Great work as always, the matches bit was particularly hilarious 😄 This was always a franchise I enjoyed from afar despite never playing (grew up in a religious household, no way a game with devil in the title was going to be allowed). I actually ended up playing DmC first when it came out and never really understood the hate because I enjoyed it. It wasn't until I finally played through the original series when the fifth one came out that I could understand why DmC might be upsetting to fans of the originals. I like to think it wouldn't get as much hate if it was made as a Devil May Cry clone instead of a reboot.
Literally my story meeting with DMC series. I enjoyed DmC, I was like "wow, this is really sick" until I reached to the original series. But still I think that DmC is decent if you try to ignore the fact that it's connected to the DMC series.
Definitely agree with you there. DmC WAS a good hack n slash gane, just not a good Devil May Cry. I hold the same oppinion for both recent God of War games.
As a fan of the original series, I was also skeptical of the reboot at the time because the trailers showed a Dante that was impossibly different. Most people were just upset that they changed his appearance and (more so) character. But I think everyone has more or less reached the consensus that it was a good game. The combat was fantastic and the set pieces were up to par. Dante at the end even becomes likeable. It's just a shame to lots of fans that they 'reinvented' Dante as drastically as they did. But glad to know people are still enjoying all sides of the series!

This is a well done retrospective of the series. DMC3 was the first game of the genre that I played and left me wanting more games like this, which led me to to the God of War series as a kid. Would love to see you cover the God of War series. This video was well made!
What a great find this video was. Made me stay up way later than I should have, not that I'm complaining, though. I'm also relatively new to the franchise and just finished DMC 5 yesterday after going through all the others, except DMC 2 that is, but maybe I'll give it a shot after I'm done getting everything I can from DMC 5 just to see how goofy it actually is. Anyhow, you got something special here. Fantastic video, friend.

With each video, he pushes himself to the edge of creativity. A fresh of breathe air and inspiration on this website.
As always, amazing! Leaving the comment for the algorythm, buddy. You deserve for this channel to blow up!
I dunno man, DMC3 probably had one of the best story in games even if it was more interactive than traditional. Other than that, good vid.
peak of story telling, the hero fight his enemy, lose, fight again and draw, and then after evolving he defeat in the end
they nail the "rival" thing, something that we only see being pushed further on MGRR
?
He wasn't even that hard on it lol
it has its merits but there's no way it deserves to mentioned up there with things like New Vegas or Mother
You sir have earned a sub. Good job on the editing and script of this video.
Everytime I watch one of your videos I finish it and think damn, that’s the best video I’ve ever seen
You got yourself a new subscriber man! The editing is crazy! You gotta be big in no time man!
This is a well done retrospective of the series. DMC3 was the first game of the genre that I played and left me wanting more games like this, which led me to to the God of War series as a kid.
Would love to see you cover the God of War series. This video was well made!
This is a top quality video with the script and everything about this is well made. This channel should have a million subscribers immediately.
Dmc 4 Dante is the most disrespectful he's ever been. And I mean that in the most positive way possible. 😂
You're the only one who has made me almost want to play dmc2
You actually make me want to try out the series. I’ve been ignoring it for ever.
