Ever since the L.A. BEAST was a small child, he was always fascinated with reading those old paper back GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Books. People from all over the world have many different talents, goals, and aspirations....this book is like an Official Record Registry which allows those individuals to set bench marks and be recognized around the world for their talents. After 7 years of consuming crazy food and non food items here on UA-cam, the L.A. BEAST has decided to sacrifice going out on the weekends with his buddies to get drunk and dedicate his time to studying/mastering a few Guinness World Records.
Here is his official attempt for Most Powdered Doughnuts Eaten in 3 minutes with the current record standing at 6....Set by Australian Shamus Petherick back in December of 2010. The previous record holder before him was indeed Christopher "Big Black" Boykin from Mtv's hit show Rob & Big who consumed 5 powdered doughnuts in 2 minutes 45 seconds. Rest in Peace good sir...

What the hell does licking lips have to do with eating a certain amount of doughnuts in a certain amount of time?
I feel like wasting the precious saliva outside of your mouth would be a disadvantage for such dry donuts, I really don't get it. Only thing I can think of is maybe licking lips makes your mouth water more, but no idea if that is actually the case.

It's a challenge with a convoluted rule that exists just to "make it interesting" despite this not being a restuarant or TV challenge, it's supposed to just be a Guinness world record for most eaten within a time limit.
My guess it to make it harder to beat. There are probably some people who could do this no problem with licking there lips so this just makes it harder. It also probably has to do with drying your mouth out.

I feel like you have your best chance with these pastry type challenges (especially with no water allowed) when up against freak competitive eaters who somehow can swallow with minimal chewing. If you attempt to swallow bread without water or chewing it has the biggest risk for getting stuck in your throat so you have to be more deliberate.

well it's guidelines, and if the rules are being not allowed to lick your lips or eat more than 1 at a time so be it. It makes sense since we're talking about dry and even powdered food here and that's the challenge any liquid would make it 10 times easier and f.e. if u put a piece of it in ur mouth filled with water its not even the same anymore, not dry and no powder.
Moist lips could take off a lot of the powdered sugar I guess.
