Proud to say I grew up in Covington Georgia & was in the very first episode 1978 during the first chase scene, I was standing with the group of folks in front of the red store {Harper's Five & Dime} as the General slides onto the square with Roscoe chasing them {UA-cam video Dukes Of Hazard : Chase from 1st Episode} which was the same square I was on when Burt Reynolds landed his plane to get beer in Cannonball Run 1981, I was standing with the folks on the sidewalk where the plane turned around {UA-cam video Cannonball Plane}! Smokey & the Bandit {our southern documentary} was also filmed all around this area! In 1990 my '78 Ttop Z28 was used in an episode of Heat of the Night, I had some great memories there - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS
DUDEEEE THAT IS AWESOME TO BE ABLE TO SAY YOU SAW ALL THOSE GET SHOT!!!!!!! Thats sweet!!!!! In my next episode of Traveler, I did a tour of all the Dukes of Hazzard Film Locations! That video will be coming sometime this month!
@@ChunkeyMonkey40 I'll be watching that video! I grew up just 2 miles from the Boars Nest! Ben Jones {Cooter} was also living in Covington before Dukes was filmed & was actually in the movie Moonrunners thats how he got the part for Cooter {by Guy Waldron}! He also served as our Democratic district Representative from 1988-1994! Catherine Bach {Daisy} used to own a ranch house alongside I-20 off the access road right before you get to Covington but only for a short time! Burt Reynolds used to live in the biggest mansion in Covington {up hwy 81} during the late '70s & '80s but he sold it in the '90s & they turned the whole property into a $500,000 & up home community with the mansion used as a community center! I havent lived there since 1998 but still go there to visit every now & again & had some great memories & most of my family still lives there!
Hey Mr. Monkey!I just came across yer channel yesterday and have been watchin' yer videos.I got to tell you that I always watch the Dukes when that program was first on tv.I had several little kids at that time and they really loved watching the Dukes of Hazzard.A guy that lived about half a mile down the road from us had built an exact General Lee Charger and would drive past our house with it and always hit that Dixie horn when he went by.Well my kids would go nuts when that Charger would go by because they thought that was really the Dukes. Now I am a retired auto mechanic.Back in the 1980's they started calling me Cooter because I could fix anything and even did body and paint work. That name stuck and I am still know as Cooter around here.Keep flying that rebel flag!!!
I'm surprised no one has been able to get the original building that was used for the Boar's Nest in the first 5 episodes, which is just outside of Covington Georgia, and turn that into a museum for the Dukes. It is now used as a church, but I would think for enough money they would be willing to sell and get a nicer building for themselves. Things like that need to be preserved before they are lost forever.
The thing is, they've been offered so much money from Cooters place and they still won't sell it. They like the location of it on flat rock Road, it sucks they won't off it but one day it'll get sold.... I just hope I'll be the one buying it
@@ChunkeyMonkey40 Does anyone know what that building was before it was used in the first 5 episodes? I'm sure it was only for the external shots, while the internal filming of the bar scenes were done in a studio somewhere else.
@@ChunkeyMonkey40 If you watch the scene in episode 1 where they drive up in front of the Boar's Nest, you can see what almost looks like a big hole in the roof on the left side. Wonder if back in 1978 this was just an old empty building on a country road which they could paint up quickly and make it look like a roadside bar?
I was amongst the lucky few in this generation to have grown up watching the Dukes of Hazzard. My dad used to play us reruns on CMT all the time, my whole family has a deep connection to the Dukes of Hazzard.
That would be so cool if fans could buy the original Boar's Nest and run it as a fan-owned Boars Nest. No huge profit motive - just done solely for the love of the show and fan camaraderie. The other thing I have thought of doing is having a bed and breakfast type place with a replica of the farm house. Imagine how cool your clientele would be. I would never even think about owning a regular bed and breakfast thus having to put up with a bunch of obnoxious guests - but if they were Duke fans - totally different story.
Good morning, where I can buy the logo 54 inches wide x 24 inches tall. Boars Nest to decorate? because on EBay I found but do not deliver in France.. Thanks in advance
Great video I loved it I'm sorry man for tuning in soo fucking late but the algorithm didn't show me your video till like a week after UA-cam algorithm is so fucked up
I agree it's f***** up they took off dukes of Hazzard I grew up watching it show like you I'm 39 years old I'm middlely challenged I talked about is dukes of Hazzard or Ninja turtles or something and they don't know Jack about the civil war or never want to learn in today's world I think God is coming back I want to buy your sticker Matthew Porter sentinel Oklahoma 204 South 5th Street
Nice to see the new work my cousin Tracy has done out there, I'll have to visit again soon! But please get a wireless mike for your guest, the background noise gets a bit much!
Thats not the issue, the issue was that he was talking quietly. The camera gets amazing audio, but that doesnt turn out when you have to amplify the audio to hear them. Plus the radio was jammed in the garage scene and I didnt think to ask him to turn it down, wasn't really in the right mindset considering id been on the road for a week and a half down south in a truck with no ac.
@@sharonrowland1196 ok I am going to try and figure out how to put a picture in here for you to see it I couldn't believe it came from the factory half painted the way it is so I said this could be something rare or I'm out of luck lol
The general lee was originally supposed to be grey, the same color that confederate soldiers wore in the war. They changed it to orange because it stood out more on film

Awesome to see them running these places still🤘keeping the dukes of Hazzard alive 🇺🇸
I yelled YEE HAW when I saw this. My wife gave me the look but she's a Dukes fan as well !
A woman who is a Dukes fan is a keeper for sure!!

This non-profit organization? Needs to raise funds, in order to buy out that boar's nest.
That's some yippee Yahoo turned into a church.
I don't like the idea of a silver General Lee.

@@ChunkeyMonkey40 OK. But, where was the bar fight in the movie filmed?
Uhhh the movie? Who cares about that lol! That movie sucked, the only good thing about it was the car stunts
