Carrera T with ceramics and a stage 1 tune (+100hp), with buckets and interior package. Perfect! For gt3’s with the steering wheel on the good side.....😉, you dont pay no premium anymore (in germany for example). Greetz 👍✌️
I really want one! I like how its a Cup focused/inspired car. I am stuck between a 911 T, Cayman GTS, or Targa 4s.. Coming from a C43 AMG I think I will enjoy the power of the T.. Plus it just looks soo classy!
@@B_M_F_710 I'm with you, imo those are the best three 911's available. The performance in the T & GTS are perfect, but I also love the look of the Targa.
Very nice video. Does your car have rear wheel steering? Does it have front lift to avoid speed bumps do you feel it necessary. Is there a rear defroster with the light plexiglass on this model. With rain does it fog up. Thanks again Ciao
Hey, Dr Rob - we've got rear steering, no front lift (it doesn't need it) and I have no idea if it's got a rear defroster - I'll have to check. No fogging up so far though
Wholeheartedly enjoyed that „review“ of your T, including critics, swearing, putting into perspective, etc. Between „making use of too many remaining body shells, spiced with some retro marketing“ and „if you refrain from putting back all the rubbish you don’t need for a little fun car you get something special“, there is something appealing in this little fellow. More agreeable even was I with your assessment of the distribution practice of Porsche (and btw others in that Segment), where clients almost „apply“ for a car instead of just walk-in in and buy one. I realized this first, when I informed my dealer that I wanted an R and all I received back was a furious grin. Little later, the GT4 was announced, and I was „promised“ one, because of my buying history with Porsche. Didn’t like the procedure, but love the car. Also, because it got me into the privileged situation to be „allowed“ to buy a GT3 (Touring), which then closed the viscous circle to the R, which was what I really wanted, in the first place. Although happy with the result, I deeply dislike the whole circus around who gets what. So: well done raising this and relating it to real life situations like yourselves (and it can’t be said that you don’t have enough precious automobiles in your garage...)
On AutoTrader there are 32ish Carrera Ts for sale, and about 53 base Carrera coupe for sale......HOWEVER, out of the 53 base Carrera (over the whole of 991/991.2) there are less then 10, yes 10 of the 991.2. The rare collectable car to have could well be the base Carrera. Keep it up guys, great channel.
Love the content and find myself coming back to this video time and time again. If you only had 1 choice to have as a 911 to do it all, would you choose the T over a 991.2 S?
Guys, I didn't hear you mention that you can spec the 918 seats on the lowly 911T? That's pretty cool actually! They also tear out the rear seats when you order the 918 seat package. "Adding lightness"
urgetodrive it actually comes as standard with no rear seats no matter what seats you choose and you can option the rears for free with any seats (apart from 918, obviously)

Almost all reviewers comment very favorably on how great the driving experience is with the “T” and this is based on the perfect base motor with three options not available on the models. The manual transmission is special and praised in many reviews. The LSD is different and may add something to this mix. Finally, the lack lightweight windows allows more engine sounds into the passenger compartment. Any comments (and there are some) that suggest the purported weight savings has any effect lack credibility. However, if we accept the proposition that Porsche has come up with some things that actually do improve the driving experience what can we make of their decision to exclude these as options? Buyers can get leather wrapped ac vents, paint to sample and tinted tail lights but can’t spec things that actually make the car a better driver? The rear spoiler actually rises to a higher angle than other models. Is this better? If so why would it only be on the Carrera T?
A refreshingly great and informative video. I acknowledge they are different cars and speed is not everything, but does the performance of the T (acceleration) prove a step up from say a BMW M2? I am thinking of trading my M2 in for a T, however I am yet to drive one as there are none in my area. Also, is there much difference between this and a Carrera S?
Good questions, Darren. Although on paper the two offer similar performance, I would suggest the T is in the real world quicker (esp if you opt for pdk), and the T’s slippery shape will help improve its official figures even further. If you drive back to back I’d bet the T will impress you more. The S is overall faster, but has different handling characteristics and is more refined than the T
I am at the same cross roads here.. I have a 2018 C43 AMG Sedan. If I go new it has to be a 911 T. Wouldn't mind a Targa 4s or a Cayman GTS, but they would have to be used.. I just know that I will regret the highway performance of the Cayman 4 cylinder down the line.
Such a tough choice. I think (well I have) gone for the Carrera T, but both are totally awesome. We need to get together with Sideways Sid and compare them.
You can't option the Porsche Torque Vectoring to the base Carrera, so the T is the only way to get it in a non-S. Spec in the sport exhaust, and shorter throw manual.
This car is amazing! I mean, so what if it has the base motor, it has PASM, it has a mechanical LSD, it has a re-geared transmission, the short throw from a GT3, rear axel steering and if you don’t spec it with silly stuff like a sunroof, its lighter and has some stuff even the S doesn’t have. Especially for $115k. The quick enough comments are absolutely silly. It is a Porsche 911. I think people that have access to too many cars are cynical, most people won’t have the opportunity to drive a car like this and when they do, it’s amazing!
The bloke in blue nailed it, Porsche had a heap of narrow bodies left over and lightweight glass, how to get rid of them? I know, lets build some base cars, call them T's, put the left over stuff in them. Brilliant!!!
I have only recently seen a 991.2 T in the tin and it’s a a stunning looking car, with the new 992 coming out shortly the T’s should be quite desirable and will only be a short production run time. I like your review of the car as it is the driving experience that counts, I know that the GT3, GT3 RS & Touring are more sought after but track focused cars can be to harsh on the road and I would be quite happy with a T.
awesome car! great video! why are the roads there so narrow?! they look like one lane roads but there's traffic going both ways on it and you have to stop when passing so you don't hit each other 😁. Love that big engine reveal that was hilarious! Did that one come with the deviated stitching?
Enjoyed your video. Haven driven the Carrera T with the PDK this past weekend, and having driven the range of the 991.2 variants with manual (base and GTS), I will say that the Carrera T is a surprisingly QUICK car. I don't love "bench racing" but Car & Driver pulled a 3.4 second run from 0-60 mph in the 2017 991.2 BASE carrera with PDK and sport chrono. So the T should do *3.3 seconds to 60 mph* with launch control. We all know how ridiculously conservative Porsche is with their performance estimates. That will destroy pretty much any Jaguar and even keep pace some Ferraris, if you're talking about acceleration runs. I do kind of agree that it's their end-of-run 991.2 "parts bin special" but by removing sound deadening, tooling with the gearbox ratios (for manual), adding LSD, and changing some of the cosmetic bits, they are giving you a heck of a lot more value than the previous gen "Black Editions" did. And the car does sound louder and more raw than the "normal" 991.2 and the GTS for that matter, at least to my ears. I am a manual driver through and through. I own a 991.1 C4S with manual and wouldn't give it up for the new models, but the Carrera T with PDK and sport chrono is a sleeper MISSLE. The T is incredibly satisfying as a DRIVER's car and really makes you re-evaluate chasing all these huge gaudy HP/TQ numbers. It really surprised me.
Thanks for your well-made comments, William. I agree on the black editions and the benefits of the manual option. The T is most definitely a great drivers car, though I’m not sure we can get it down to 3.4s for a 0-60
My experience with the 911T 3 years on - First of all, this car is my 4th 911 ranging from a 1984 911 Carrera Whale Tail manual (which I should have never sold) to a 2015 Carrera S with the early automatic transmission ( not a fan) and a 2017 911 S with PDK, (great car but ruined, in my opinion by the automatic transmission) Let me explain - I'm not a track driver, never have, never will be. While I understand the advantage the PDK has over the manual transmission clearly has on the track, it takes the "drivers experience and involvement" out of the car! To me it's like buying an aerobatic airplane with an autopilot and then letting the autopilot fly all the aerobatic maneuvers. It quickly just becomes another nice automatic car - turn the radio up and let it lead you around - boring! Now to my 2019 Carrera T - I was fortunate enough to get a new allocation and spec the car out to my personal specs. My car is not lighter - I added rear-wheel steering, a sun roof and the Brumaster sound system and selected the manual 7 speed transmission. This car is hands down the closest in driving experience and overall enjoyment to my 1984 Carrera Whale tail than any of the others. In my opinion my 911 T delivers exactly what it was meant to deliver - a great driver involved, road car driving experience like no other that the early on-Porsche reputation was originally built upon! This car is capable of breaking any speed limit in the country in 3rd gear - you really don't need 400+ horsepower on the street or spend $300k+ to have an enjoyable driving experience! One thing that I believe these types of reviews completely miss when comparing this 911 to is higher performing models. I originally planned to drive this car a short time with the intention of ordering a 911 GT3 Touring, but I honestly have to say, after driving my Carrera T for 3 years and considering the differences in horsepower (which I don't need), a different gearbox and price, my badge envy has waned considerably! I'm happy to keep my 911 T and in addition look for an older 911 model to restore.
I am hoping to get into one of these. Dumping my Cayman S 718 for it. Hoping to do occasional track days with it. I worry about the standard brakes. Wish they had put in the set from the S model.
So let me get this straight, the T idea is supposed to be a stripped out purist car that’s cheaper yet the actual T costs more and has more options than the base 911?? That makes no sense.
It’s fairly compliant as all 991 911s are. Slightly harsher than Carrera or Carrera S - softer than the GT cars. Overall though a comfortable ride long distance
Hi guys. Good video! I’ve got a c.£85k budget. I’m looking for something exciting to do weekend trips and the odd track day. Considering all the Porsche options i am most likely to get either a Carrera T, GTS or GT4 clubsport... any suggestions for me from you? Thanks
Great video. I haven’t driven the car so take this *RIDICULOUSLY* long comment with a pinch of salt! I understand the appeal of having more horsepower but in a country with many narrow & twisty roads, I will respectfully disagree by saying that I’m glad that Porsche didn’t use the Carrera S’s 420hp engine. Nick Murray said in his video that the ‘base’ Carrera’s 370hp engine arguably has the _most naturally aspirated ‘feel’_ amongst the 3.0 twin turbo engines in the 991.2 Carrera range. He says the 420hp engine feels more elastic+laggy. Also, having less power allows the driver to approach the car near its 10/10ths on public roads, like you can thrash modest powered RWD cars like Mazda MX-5 and Subaru BRZ etc. ua-cam.com/video/NYwJJ68BvPM/v-deo.html I agree however that the Carrera T has a significantly high price hike despite its so-called ‘lightweight’ credentials. But if you really like driving but cannot afford a flipped GT3 (or other GT badged 911s) in the used market after not receiving an allocation from Porsche, then the Carrera T is the best 911 in the range in my opinion. It separates itself from the base Carrera with its PASM fitted standard + the rear differential as you said, reduced wheel gap with its lower ride aesthetic, gearbox having shorter gear ratios+shorter throws and the option to select the 918 style bucket seats (although the seats you have are more comfy). I’d like to see how a Carrera T compares with a Cayman GT4 - the latter is lighter, has a better gearbox and it will definitely annihilate the former on a track with its GT3 derived front suspension and its midengined characteristics. However, with very similar power outputs and relatively similar prices on the used market, it would be interesting to see someone comparing both of these cars on public roads to see which one is more 'fun to drive'. I agree, Porsche really should sort out their allocation system - JayEmm on Cars did an interesting video on it ua-cam.com/video/RJ739X8SSCk/v-deo.html I’m aware that UK delivered GT3 Tourings are going for over 200 grand in the used market, but would you consider getting one with its wingless look+9000rpm engine?
Helluva comment, Smilepermile. Very interesting point on the base Carrera engine vs the S - I have to admit the base DOES feel more like a naturally aspirated engine, and I remarked on that in the collection video. We'll have to see if we can rustle up a Cayman GT4 for a comparison vid. I would definitely consider a Touring GT3 - they look fantastic!
+TheCarGuys.TV Thank you so much for reading my really long comment and replying quickly! That Carrera T and Cayman GT4 'street' comparison would be awesome to see, since no one on UA-cam has done it yet! Could be a great video idea for sure, although I do understand that it takes a lot of persuading to get generous owners/dealers to lend you guys their cars!
Right I'm calling BS on that. That's just a way to justify why getting a base car is better. Being an S owner, I don't think there is much of a difference. It doesn't feel any more turbo like than the base. The only difference is it gets more boost at the top end. They are both twin turbo engines and act like it. Much quicker than NA and do sound slightly worse. Buying a base car thinking you're getting an NA engine just because it has less top end boost is ridiculous. People are paying more money for T models with less power and features and instead of getting an S or GTS...nice marketing campaign Porsche. If you want light weight and more engagement, get a stripped out base model...the T is kinda like a GTS is to an S, a package bundle of the base car to clear the parts bin prior to the next generation release. Once you get used to the S power, you're wanting more not less. A base/ T model with MT will be slow IMO, but some rather have fun with an extra pedal on the floor. I'd rather go fast in traffic with less stress and use 2 pedals on a steering wheel. A manual Miata is a light weight car that's more driver focused if I wanted that kinda thing.
+1 for the OP. The power (torque) chase is improving bragging statistics but reducing street enjoyment for me. I like running a car through its gears. Hard to even run through second these days without being a jerk. As Magnus Walker and Jay Leno said, “(It’s more fun to be able to) use all the power all the time.”
This is def a parts bin special so they could sell a load of base cars for £8k over list. Do you really notice rear wheel steer day to day. This car should have been £70k with 100kg lopped off the weight
Jason says yes, Damian’s not as cynical. You notice the rws when you need to turn around - it’s got the turning circle of a black cab! Agree about the 100kg
First time I’ve found your channel, I like your sense of humour and banter, so I’ve subscribed, by the way the cars nice, but like you I believe it’s a “Run out” marketing edition to get shot of old bits!
Currently an E92 M3 owner, that aside I have come to an agreement with a buyer for the M3 and I am going through my natural "car guy progression". The Porsche 911 is next on my list and my internal debate is on. I am debating the 991.1 Carrera S vs. 991.2 Base vs. 991.2 Carrera T vs. waiting for the "992". What is everyone's thoughts on these options?
Carrera S T ? That does not sound good, Ford will smile. Joking aside, I thought there were options on T that are not available on the base car, like rear steering. All the RHD GT3 Tourings are allocated already? Great video.
I have a white one with rear wheel steering and the pinstriped interior. I always enjoy watching your videos but I didn't hear your final omment on whether or not I should buy one. I agree with you that the 992 is a bit fat and becoming a touring car as opposed to a sports car. So I am pleased to have a fun car to drive that is the last smallish 911.
Guys you make great videos👍 However Are you sure that the Carrera T is only 5 KG lighter than a regular Carrera? Because I checked in Porsche’s website and it’s 145 KG lighter.
Nice vídeo! Mine is exactly like yours on the exterior! Great info too. I wonder if Porsche are not being modest about the weight reduction on that one. At least it’s capabilities! Well, here where I live, we can spec the car without rear seats, air con and put on race carbon seats and ceramic brakes. Those options if you’re really serious about weight reduction, along the ones Porsche already consider, like the thinner rear window and other bits, will most certainly improve that aspect. By the way, the rear wheel steering is not available for the basic Carrera. About the performance, if you choose the manual, you’re more interested in “driving interaction” ( oh, I’m getting so sick about that trend...want manual? Get a classic sport car! ). If you really want to go fast, chose a PDK. Real life, 0 to 60mph in less than 3.8sec. with launch control. Want more juice? Litchfield would safely tune your Carrera T to over 500hp. Oh, I believe the last manual transmission mid engine Ferrari was the F430. I bet my Carrera T would be fairly faster than that! 😉
8:02 you have said that you need power, the thing about this car is to be less power to allow you to enjoy the car! although too much power you might face turbo lag .. which exists in every single 911 across the line the only car who does not have turbo lag is the Basic 911. I would like to add more about the power that whoever wants to buy the Carrara T is someone who clearly understands Porsche. in the end, I prefer the basic Carrara and the T to the other models in the line. thanks for this review.
The shift knob is NOT a hand rest!! Otherwise not a bad review - I really love mine although share concern over lack of effort applied to mass reduction. Rear seats and belts already gone, will be making lightweigh package shelf.
not sure the manual is slower. To 60 yes, but that's irrelevant these days. I'd bet the manual weighs a little less so actually a touch quicker in-gear.
One thing keeps nagging me: the door handles are made of fabric, so when you close the doors you just pull them. What about when you want to open the doors? Metallic handles have embedded in them the door-opening mechanism, which the fabric handles obviously do not.
Ah, it's the other around. Nevertheless I still don't understand how you open the door using the fabric; you push it and there is some mechanism in one of its extremities that opens the door, is that it? Anyway, thank you for your quick reply!
GT3, or the GT3RS are my faves, also really liking the feel of the Turbo S..maybe one day?, but I am liking the Carrera T, but I’d want all Black Leather..
The Carrera T is a bit of an odd one and I think you hit the nail n the head with is being a parts bin end of line model with the 992 inbound. It also seams very spec dependant, from my understanding and correct me if i'm wrong.....a PDK box does not get the LSD, Sun protection glass gives you standard non light weight glass, however you see so many PDK equipped Carrera T's with sun protection glass, rear seats and a sunroof which is missing the point IMO. It has less sound proofing?, shorter shift and the Carrera S ratios on the manual box and the option of rear wheel steering + Pccb's and the 918 bucket seats which the base Carrera cannot be optioned with. Standard sports exhaust etc. IMO the ideal spec would be, rear steering, 918 buckets, all clear lightweight glass, possibly PCCB's and no sunroof or rear seats, only downside is then it's gets expensive over 100k expensive, hmmmm. Great video as always Guys.
Agreed. Anishvin on youtube did his Carrera T collection video and specced his with sunroof + PDK because he wanted to use his car as a city runaround - which is exactly not the purpose of the Carrera T lol
Thanks, Adam - great points as always. We've specced manual (tick), steel brakes (jury's out), privacy rear glass (cross), LSD (tick), rear wheel steering (tick), normal seats (cross), no sunroof (tick). Heated seats (cross), cruise control (cross). So not a bad spec at all, and more in keeping with the spirit of the car than most
I appreciate your reply thank you, PDK and a sunroof seams to be the biggest mistake on the T, may as well buy a base Carrera and save some money but a lot of them I would say are flipper spec, add in a few options to make it more desirable I assume, over 30 for sale on Autotrader!. anyway I look forward to seeing more video's from you guys as I enjoy your interaction with each other which is refreshing compared to some youtubers who just seam to churn out endless drivel.
Would you consider buying a Cobb Accessport to take this cars’sperformance up to another level and then review it for us? This car seems like tuner bait to me. It has all the chassis mods looked after, it just needs more HP and F/LBS torque and it would be perfect.
It will add about 50 hp and 100 foot pounds of torque in a plug and play module. There are a number of reputable tuners out there, anyone of which could tune this car for significant performance gains
@@Nord_Mann I guess it's worth a test drive but one limitation of the 911s is that the engines are too small to get adequate displacement without turbocharging. I am still enjoying the 2RS but was offered an allocation for a Speedster but probably not going to get one. That manual roof deployment is somewhat disappointing.
You’re Wrong about weight. The weight savings is much more. You can have to compare apples to apples. The extra equipment on the T adds weight vs the base 911. You save over 40 Kg if you spec it right.
+6:35 - - "What we need to do is give it 'the beans'..." ... LOL ... across the pond, we call that (albeit, with a tad bit more acceleration) ... "going balls out."
I just don't get it. What is the real reason to get a 911 T? No weight savings, dealing with fake glass and who knows what it will look like in the next 10 years, etc. Why didn't they start with the S power? Because it would be way to close to the true sweet spot of the 911 line up, the GTS!
Somewhat disappointed in your lack of attention to detail in this review. PASM is standard across the range. You confused PASM with sport chrono and with the lowered suspension.
Porsche takes a 991.2, widely regarded as one of the best 911s, makes it lighter and more engaging, and then some clowns in a bid to get clicks ask “is it a real 911?” In what possible realm would it not be? Click bait title is clickbait
Not sure I agree with you there, this title was not intended to be click bait. That usually means misleading title that in many cases does not relate to the actual content, or is vastly exaggerated. In this vid we go into great detail to explore this topic and answer the question. Thanks for at least having the conviction to get in touch though.
Nice Porsche but I rather prefer that Patek Phillipe Nautilus due it's low ownership cost of watch collecting. Sorry I detract, but the prospect of handing over all my children's inheritance to Porsche in exchange of a brand new car may never happen unless the lotto is involved. I'd rather settle for a 997.2 with the boys inheritance all in tact and a depleted ego. Nice Porsche.
Maybe it's only 5 kilos lighter because you guys don't have the carbon seats and rear seat delete. I think It's a crime not to get the carbon seats you can't even get in the Carrera S or normal turbo.
Err...correction: the base 911 (991.2) does come with PASM as standard. I am very happy with my “heavyweight” base Carrera. I didn’t option the Sport exhaust (a lot of money for a little bit more noise). I use my car as a daily and clock up around 10 000km / month. Love every km in this thing. My car is a keeper; specced precisely how I wanted it. If I ever want more power then being the base turbo engine it would be very easily done.
Most of the comments in this video do not make any sense. "The brakes are not bad". Really? So are they just 'average'? I don't think so. "It's not that fast a car'. Yes, it is a very fast car. How much more speed do you need for public driving and going to the supermarket? Seriously? "It's enough to keep up with modern traffic". What does that even mean? All new cars today can easily keep up with modern traffic. That comment belongs to a 1968 Fiat not a 2018 Porsche. You were overly critical about the wrong things in your review. What you should have focused on is what this car does not need. The Carrera T should not have the silly dial on the steering wheel to pick your 'driving mode' (I really hate that nonsense). It does not need all of those stupid buttons on the center console. It does not need the goofy big screen in the center of the dash. It does not need to 'automatically' downshift for you. It should just be a manual gearbox, and you the driver should do all of the work with no electronic distractions. Period. That is what the 'T' should be about.
It’s called personal opinion, and it sounds like you have one too - that’s great. So do we. I’d love to see your video where you address the points that are important to you. Let us have a link and we’ll compare.
It’s not a fast car in its peer group, and for many 911 fans that’s disappointing. It’s obviously a quick car compared to a Focus, but we give credit to our viewers as being intelligent to know that
So what is fast--this car does 0-100km in 4.2 or less--but then again you did not ring it out the way it is designed-my 6 Gen camaro SS does -60 in 4 flat sometimes less-anyone who thinks that is not fast is out to lunch
Did he really say it's enough power to keep up with modern traffic? Pay that car more respect
Yeah he feels it can't keep up with the Honda's and Toyota's on the road. I guess it's too slow for him.
Carrera T with ceramics and a stage 1 tune (+100hp), with buckets and interior package. Perfect! For gt3’s with the steering wheel on the good side.....😉, you dont pay no premium anymore (in germany for example). Greetz 👍✌️
I love mine. Weight difference aside - specced right these things are cracking road cars. Cool parts bin special.
Totally agree, it’s a corker. A real sleeper. I’d like to run a 911 R and GT3 Touring back to back
And it’s Faster than a GT3 off track. Read the launch reviews.
Interested in making business?
I really want one! I like how its a Cup focused/inspired car. I am stuck between a 911 T, Cayman GTS, or Targa 4s.. Coming from a C43 AMG I think I will enjoy the power of the T.. Plus it just looks soo classy!
@@B_M_F_710 I'm with you, imo those are the best three 911's available. The performance in the T & GTS are perfect, but I also love the look of the Targa.
For about 1k quid more you can "chip" it to 450 hp and 470 torques.
Plus exhaust over 500 hp
Very nice video.
Does your car have rear wheel steering?
Does it have front lift to avoid speed bumps do you feel it necessary.
Is there a rear defroster with the light plexiglass on this model. With rain does it fog up.
Thanks again

Hey, Dr Rob - we've got rear steering, no front lift (it doesn't need it) and I have no idea if it's got a rear defroster - I'll have to check. No fogging up so far though

Wholeheartedly enjoyed that „review“ of your T, including critics, swearing, putting into perspective, etc.

Thanks for your comments, Stefan. Agree with everything you say here
The 911 with your Patek make a nice duo!! Great video and I love the Carrera T!
Thanks Otavio
Y'all are entertaining to watch! Subscribed from North Myrtle Beach, SC & Ozark, Alabama.

Brutal honesty there which is greatly appreciated... You and savagegeese are car guys that one can trust... Thx
Thanks - that means a lot. I’ll check out savagegeese - not heard of him/them
Check out StraightPipes
Appreciate the content you guys put out. Enjoy your channel very much. Great balance of facts and personal views. Keep up the good work

I daily drive my T and enjoy every moment! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting point. I remember with the 993 generation, the bog standard Carrera was the one to have as it offered the more pure driving experience
Love the content and find myself coming back to this video time and time again. If you only had 1 choice to have as a 911 to do it all, would you choose the T over a 991.2 S?
Glad you’re enjoying it, Ken. Yes I would take the T over the S any day - but manual, no sunroof

I can't argue with the points you've made here, Anthony - sound logic throughout.
Many thanks for the prompt and informative response.
Very good video 😀😀😀
Good video again lads carrera T is on the want list but question is ? Manual carrera T or Cayman GT4?
Such a tough choice. I think (well I have) gone for the Carrera T, but both are totally awesome. We need to get together with Sideways Sid and compare them.
TheCarGuys.TV I’m sure you can find another Cayman GT4 to back to back test ??
If you don’t like a 7 speed, get a cayman GTS, it’s as fast and handles maybe even better than this car.
The bloke in blue nailed it, Porsche had a heap of narrow bodies left over and lightweight glass, how to get rid of them? I know, lets build some base cars, call them T's, put the left over stuff in them. Brilliant!!!
Jason, you mean.
I agree weight savings doesn't justify a T.
I ended up with a 2019 991.2 4 gts and love it.
No plans for a 992.
Those are British B roads - fearsome places with little space, but often high speed. Like the Nurburgring, but with T-junctions and crossroads
Must feel similar to a 996 3.4 as the kerb weight is 100kg less than the T but with 300 bhp
I very much enjoy your videos. The content is superb.
Thank you very much - we appreciate it, Ferrell
the Nautilus is arguably more impressive
The T is most definitely a great drivers car, though I’m not sure we can get it down to 3.4s for a 0-60
TheCarGuys.TV Flat change ,Slicks and Avgas maybe? 😊
I have a question do they pay a premium for the steering wheel on the left hand side? in the UK I'm sorry 😮🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
About to order mine but cannot decide for the life of me on RAS. I don’t track. Any thoughts? Anyone?
100% yes - essential option
I would heartily recommend it - love the T so much.
So let me get this straight, the T idea is supposed to be a stripped out purist car that’s cheaper yet the actual T costs more and has more options than the base 911?? That makes no sense.
I do t think it was ever meant to be cheaper, but you are getting some cool extras over the base model and overall it’s a cool car
TheCarGuys.TV well the original T that Porsche had was stripped out and cheaper. I guess now for Porsche their history is just a marketing ploy.
Really enjoying your channel guys. Loving the Porsche and Ferrari content! I’d love that garage! 🤔 looking forward to the next video.
Funny, accurate, interesting video. Will be on the Porsche track with one of these in November. No intention of buying one though.
Did you guys test the new Acura or Honda NSX what the I don't know electric and gas motor gasoline motor
Good car reviewing and style, new subscriber
Thanks, Rob. We are trying to improve each time
i cannot be the only one wondering how he/they made all their money/millions?
Very informative as always chaps!
Cheers, Marrow
So much potential to replicate your Queen with these voices! And FYI: basic Carrera does not get rear wheel stearing at all and LSD.
I wouldn't describe this car as comfortable. I can see you two bounce all over the place.
Thanks
What did you end up with in the end?
Sports cats + back box and it'll sound 100% better
Also, having less power allows the driver to approach the car near its 10/10ths on public roads, like you can thrash modest powered RWD cars like Mazda MX-5 and Subaru BRZ etc. ua-cam.com/video/NYwJJ68BvPM/v-deo.html
I agree however that the Carrera T has a significantly high price hike despite its so-called ‘lightweight’ credentials.
I agree, Porsche really should sort out their allocation system - JayEmm on Cars did an interesting video on it ua-cam.com/video/RJ739X8SSCk/v-deo.html
I’m aware that UK delivered GT3 Tourings are going for over 200 grand in the used market, but would you consider getting one with its wingless look+9000rpm engine?
+Fluterra Interesting. Perhaps its because the T has near identical torque figure as the 991.2 GT3, but at an earlier RPM
5kg dump..gives new meaning to
LOG book..lol
Scott 70 🤣
Scott 70 oh, and I’d like to point out I weigh more than 5kg J
TheCarGuys.TV your wallet must weigh at least 5kg Damian !!! 😜
I'm probably a bit late to ask but would you guys go for a manual carrera T or a manual GTS?
We’ve not driven the GTS, so it would be Carrera T - loved that little car
Enjoying the videos...especially when it’s Porsche 👍😉
You'll enjoy the rest of the year, then, Micheal
I had 2 Porsches, no I drive AMGs. Fair review guys! This model is as the V6 faux amg
You are the only 911 T driver that actually uses the indicator properly, all other 911T drivers do not use the indicator for some unknown reason??
First time I’ve found your channel, I like your sense of humour and banter, so I’ve subscribed, by the way the cars nice, but like you I believe it’s a “Run out” marketing edition to get shot of old bits!
Welcome to the channel, Pete. Great to have you here. Any cars in particular you’d like to see?
Currently an E92 M3 owner, that aside I have come to an agreement with a buyer for the M3 and I am going through my natural "car guy progression". The Porsche 911 is next on my list and my internal debate is on. I am debating the 991.1 Carrera S vs. 991.2 Base vs. 991.2 Carrera T vs. waiting for the "992". What is everyone's thoughts on these options?
Current garage: 2009 M3 (nearly sold), 2017 X5, 2015 GMC Sierra SLT
Carrera S T ? That does not sound good, Ford will smile. Joking aside, I thought there were options on T that are not available on the base car, like rear steering. All the RHD GT3 Tourings are allocated already? Great video.
Great video! Just wish I could afford one!
Start saving now 😀
I have a white one with rear wheel steering and the pinstriped interior. I always enjoy watching your videos but I didn't hear your final omment on whether or not I should buy one. I agree with you that the 992 is a bit fat and becoming a touring car as opposed to a sports car. So I am pleased to have a fun car to drive that is the last smallish 911.
Guys you make great videos👍
However Are you sure that the Carrera T is only 5 KG lighter than a regular Carrera?
Nice Patek
Still haven't managed to spot you driving around the fordingbridge area
Thanks for the review. Sounds like the 911 S provides a bit more performance for your dollar.
Fair comment
But it is more cinematic
not sure the manual is slower. To 60 yes, but that's irrelevant these days. I'd bet the manual weighs a little less so actually a touch quicker in-gear.
You may be right, but I was referring specifically to the quoted 0-60 times
This channel would be fun and entertaining to watch if it was about old shitboxes, the amazing cars are just a bonus😂👍
This is the comment of the year! Thanks, Joe
Did you not see the prelude video? 😂 just pulling ya leg 😜
key lo, it was still entertaining😂
Was just joking Joe
key lo, yeah I know😂
One thing keeps nagging me: the door handles are made of fabric, so when you close the doors you just pull them. What about when you want to open the doors? Metallic handles have embedded in them the door-opening mechanism, which the fabric handles obviously do not.
The fabric door pulls are for opening the doors only, you have to pull on the door itself to close it.
Ah, it's the other around. Nevertheless I still don't understand how you open the door using the fabric; you push it and there is some mechanism in one of its extremities that opens the door, is that it? Anyway, thank you for your quick reply!
Damian interesting background you have :) Didn't realise you owned a Publication company :)
That was in a past life... all over now
Sad times :( well not to sad...guess it's given you what you have now :) Btw I so want to have a ride in that F12 TDF!
Luv this car. A true reasonable Porsche driving 911.
Spec it with the carbon buckets, radio & rear seat delete, it will be more "light weight". The car in this review is spec'd to be a base Carrera.
a very expensive more capable mazda mx-5 miata?
Like your patek 5711
great taste :)
Thanks, Aasa C . It is one of my all-time favourites
GT3, or the GT3RS are my faves, also really liking the feel of the Turbo S..maybe one day?, but I am liking the Carrera T, but I’d want all Black Leather..
13:51 made me giggle with the engine noise compared to speed
Interesting thoughts on flipping
Nice video guys, some flawed logic in 911T but great car, keep it!
Thanks, Q
JOLIE VOITURE !!
Would you consider buying a Cobb Accessport to take this cars’sperformance up to another level and then review it for us? This car seems like tuner bait to me. It has all the chassis mods looked after, it just needs more HP and F/LBS torque and it would be perfect.
I’ve not heard of the Cobb Accessport, but I’m using loathed to tune anything
TheCarGuys.TV www.cobbtuning.com/maps/porsche-911-991-2-carrera-carrera-t-carrera-cabriolet-carrera-4-cabriolet-carrera-4-targa-targa-4-stage-1-map
It will add about 50 hp and 100 foot pounds of torque in a plug and play module. There are a number of reputable tuners out there, anyone of which could tune this car for significant performance gains
9:35 "It's enough to keep up with modern traffic".......................enough said. Great video, guys.
@15:18 - about the auto fuel station sat nav thingy. My Ford Fusion does that. Not that innovative, chaps. :)
Still cool though
Jason somehow looked younger when in the drivers seat.
He’ll love that 😀
AntonzBravo you are my new best friend!😁
VERY NICE watch 😉
Thanks
Nice Patek there.. :)
I thank you
The lack of horsepower is why I shied away from it. Heck, I had a 991.2 GT3-RS with 520 hp that I felt was a tad anemic on the power side.
@@Nord_Mann I guess it's worth a test drive but one limitation of the 911s is that the engines are too small to get adequate displacement without turbocharging. I am still enjoying the 2RS but was offered an allocation for a Speedster but probably not going to get one. That manual roof deployment is somewhat disappointing.
...my "The Beans" T shirt is on it's way :-D
Finding it hard to be excited by the T...
Legend
Both Sports and Sports + have auto blip throttle functions.
Yes, you’re right - don’t spend any real time in Sport though 😀
You’re Wrong about weight. The weight savings is much more. You can have to compare apples to apples. The extra equipment on the T adds weight vs the base 911. You save over 40 Kg if you spec it right.
Lindsay Jackson Yes I think we said 30Kg in the vid
+6:35 - - "What we need to do is give it 'the beans'..." ... LOL ... across the pond, we call that (albeit, with a tad bit more acceleration) ... "going balls out."
I just don't get it. What is the real reason to get a 911 T? No weight savings, dealing with fake glass and who knows what it will look like in the next 10 years, etc. Why didn't they start with the S power? Because it would be way to close to the true sweet spot of the 911 line up, the GTS!
The feel of the wheel seals the deal
Just curious, have you tested the GTS? Any difference in feel to the T (besides the added power)?
I would love for you guys to drive my '70 chevelle convertible with 700 Hp merlin engine!
Good lord! That sounds fantastic
PP Nautilus!
'It's properly fucked me right off'- Classic British disappointment hahah
The point about the brakes is that they are not super-meaty but they have a delicate feel, which is different to many spurts cars.
It’s not a fast car in its peer group, and for many 911 fans that’s disappointing. It’s obviously a quick car compared to a Focus, but we give credit to our viewers as being intelligent to know that
@@TheCarGuysTV I assure you that the many 911 'fans' do not even have the skills to utilize the speed of a Toyota Camry much less a Porsche 911.
Would like to seen it at around 1250kg
HENRYHOBBS1 would have been nice if they had stuck to the heritage of the original T as a budget 911 as well!
$100K US Dollar - comical 360 hp - slower than most of the SUVs - a total marketing gimmick for the suckers!
So what is fast--this car does 0-100km in 4.2 or less--but then again you did not ring it out the way it is designed-my 6 Gen camaro SS does -60 in 4 flat sometimes less-anyone who thinks that is not fast is out to lunch
So it is basically a Cup inspired car...
