- 岩湧山の登山道・急坂の道で、オオスズメバチがシダクロスズメバチの巣を襲っています。
シタグロスズメバチはなすすべがなく次々に捕まってしまいます。
残酷なようですが、オオスズメバチは本能に従っているだけで、決して悪者ではありません。
岩湧の森で撮影。
「制圧」とか「蹂躙」といった言葉が似合いますね。余りにも一方的な戦いだ．．．。

ただ、蜂に興味のない一般の登山者たちに影響が無いと良いのですが。

As for the wasps, they look to me like cartoon characters. Very kawaii.

Thing is it's not an efficient way of living. That's why the native European Hornet is the world's most dominant wasp. Because they cover more territory than any other Wasp n the world. I don't think most Asian hornets can live with European hornets. Because different styles of predatory favours the European Hornet.

I think they are attending a vespula flaviceps underground nest,once it saw the target,it will start fly towards the location where last it saw,it is pretty faster,terrifying creature.

I saw one of these upclose in Georgia. I walked the other way as it was staring at me face to face then lost intrest and went back into the nest. think it was a gaurd checking if i was a threat. happend to me 4 times.
dont know what would of happend if i smacked it. then i would probably had to deal with a swarm of them.lol
It was probably a European hornet, as I haven't heard Asian giant hornets in the US as yet.
