Interesting. I've never heard of anyone not putting a bead of silicone down before attaching the two pieces of glass together. Perhaps the added support helps but I personally wouldn't skip that step (I overbuild everything 😊). Hopefully your tank lasts a very long time. Thanks for the video....
Well its good to see videos like this once in a while to stay normal. The moment i saw duct tape i had all the confidence in your craftsmanship and i'm pretty sure all the experienced hobbyists will agree with that. 😊 Have a few doubts apart from the build, if you could let me know. 1. How many days you let the silicone to cure ? 2. When to add water ? 3. When to add fish ? 4. How often do we need to change water and the volume ? 5. How effective is that filtration (if it is) ? Thank you 😊
Whats the thinking of not puting any silicone between the glass pieces? Is it that the tank was small enought and doesnt need the extra bonded support? Thanks.
I’m an engineer. And this is totally incorrect. The layout of glass and acrylic tanks are different. Glass panels are secured to the vertical sides of bottom panel. Not resting atop like acrylic.
Can you make little clear please, because I'm also planning to make one. Please help me out, I want to make a tank for taking fish sample pictures for my research. How should be the correct way?
Is it some special type of sealant. And was this aquarium successful? Nice method. Shall i make with same method a tank of 4 feet by 1.5 by 1.5 feet? I think no need of other person also in this method.
Looks great.... Nice project idea... Don't think I saw this info anywhere but I didn't see any glass info as far as size, thickness, dimensions, maybe how much you paid for it so that we have an idea....
It is very Simple : 1- Base 5ft x 1.5ft 2- Back side 5ft x 2ft 3- Front side 5ft x 2ft 4- Left side 2ft x 1.5ft 5- Right side 2ft x 1.5ft Some supports in bottom and top … thats it
What about glass thickness.?? In the comment you have mentioned 8mm tempered glass and 12 mm glass also which one is correct.?? And if your aquarium is still working please upload new video or shorts of your sama aquarium.. Thank you

60"Lx18"Wx24"H would be about 112gallons US. FWIW, that would call for 1/2" thick glass for the front, back and sides, and 3/4" glass on the bottom panel.
Surprised the tank has stayed together. You have run a seal round the glass but have not glued the glass together with silicone. That tank is a ticking time bomb ready to burst. Duct tape! Really? Holding it together! Anyone planning to build a tank look up some other posts and keep your floor dry!
Brother this is my 5th aquarium using this method and it has been years that my aquariums are running ... please guide us what is the right way to make it ?
This is how NOT to build a aquarium,,,, please folks don't do this... 90% percent of the strength of the the joint comes from glue between the glass contact surface... Why someone would skip this is simply stupidity...

No I actually cut my own glass and glue it the right way... This will fail... Guaranteed

I think the thinking was that he did not do the thinking. Every tank i have ever seen has a silicone glue joint at the edges aswell as the inner seal

Right
Whyy caan uh saay
Bracing should have been done at the top level part of the aquarium...not the bottom level. Euro bracing.

Which glue used? Where will you get in online kindly reply thank you.
I used 5 mm glass for a 3 feet × 2 feet aquarium.. Is it okay? Or i have to add extra support for glass strength??
For 3 feet 5mm is okay but make sure width is not more than 1 feet.
good video. I have a doubt. If I want to use a canister filter, where and how should the lily pipes be placed?
Crud doesnt get trapped under those inside glass supports??
😅maybe
Nop! Cuz they are sealed from every side.

Silicon can’t be that strong an adhesive for top support can it? If not what’s the point?

Simply brilliant.
It actually isn't, though. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
I cannot even begin to explain how many things went wrong here. lol “run filter for 24 hrs” hahahahha 🤦♂️
how the water will be cleaned...? without any sponge filter or some other filter in your tank??
It has an under gravel filter, which recycles all the water and eventually cleans it 👍

You don't need to put silicone between the glass where the sides meet?
How much cost ? For all
Depends on the material you are purchasing. From which country you are ?
Nice bro
Thanks
What is the duct tape around the outside of the tank for?
Maybe support so that the glass doesn't fall out
Cover up unsightly glue marks
