Now, I’m just a normal guy who likes working on bikes; I’m not a qualified mechanic but I’ve spent a lot of time working on bikes and most of the servicing you see is directly from the manufacturer workshop manuals. I like to show you interesting things you can do and that I’ve done with my bikes, but I can’t promise you that anything I show you will work on your bike as not everything is always exactly the same. Be careful not to harm yourself, anyone else or your bike and always be aware that if you have a warranty then changing or working on your bike can invalidate it - they do love an excuse not to have to pay out. If you have any doubt then talk to a qualified mechanic or engineer and make up your own mind. - Авто та транспорт
I had 2 problems with my bike till now and you had helped me 2 times. YOU ARE MY HERO 😍
You are very welcome and thank you!
Well done for finding it. I just had a small snapped cable on the van from relay to cooling fan module which stopped it from working 🙈
Thank you for Sharing. Duke390 user here.
Thank you!
My biggest problem with my 2019 390 is how the wiring and tubing is organized at the factory. They just chuck it in with little to no care. I’ve redone under the seat, under the tank. Looks like I need to go through the headlight area and reorganize that birds nest also. Thanks for pointing out the stress points you found.
Great you found the problem issue so quickly that could cost a fortune to have done.
That’s why it upsets me that they don’t take the care at the factory.
Thanks. As ever, everything is done for speed and to a budget, at the factory.
Thank you for showing us how to fix it !
May I suggest a video on how to adjust the rear brake pedal and shifter ?
Love your videos
How's the wheelie practice going ?
I need to get back to the wheelie practice but I lost the spot I was using and haven't yet found another. Good suggestions, thanks, I will make a note.
Thanks. I'm also having this issue in duke 125. But error only shows when scanner connected.
Sir I would love to see a video on engine light and how to find and fix the fault. Great video again btw❤️
Thanks, Engine light is any fault or message - for example you can see my engine light is on - because it is due a service, not actually a fault. For actual errors you need to have a code reader. I might follow up on this, but there are a lot of different options depending on what application platform you have available - windows laptop/ apple or Android etc.
@@MotoMirius sure sir
Hi thank you for your videos they have helped me a lot. I was wandering whether you have come across the low oil pressure warning, I have a 2021125 Duke with 3000 miles on the clock that I have just purchased and when the engine is at running temp I get this warning at around 5000 revs then, if I increase the revs it disapears. The oil level is fine although I'm going to change the oil and filters following your video as part of the diagnosis.
Hi and thanks. If the filter or screens are clogged it could cause the issue, but if it only appears at 5k revs and not below or above then it may be a sensor issue. Good luck with the diagnosis.
Cheers David got no speedo and abs lights stay on had it in to be looked at could not find nothing with out it been taken apart at a cost ?? Was think it could be a broken wire I or earth problem. Thanks I'll give this a go fingers crossed 🤞
Good luck with that. Wiring can be painful to troubleshoot. Most important thing is to take it slowly and check one wire at a time. All too easy to start pulling and prodding and overlook the problem.
is there going to be a video about the airbox tube cutting on the 125
It's on my to do list, I just need to find the time. It will be a very short video!
Hi there, i remember in one of your vids you mentioned the pig tail when using the scan tool damages something [ECU] ? i think i have done that . could you shoot me a short info text . Cheers
I’m having a issue where my TFT display just goes black while I’m riding. Usually seems to happen when it’s hot, it doesn’t turn off the bike but it restarts the screen. It can easily mess up milage reader for reference. I wonder if this has to do with grounding or ECU problem?
It could be, but what I suggest first is that you pull the headlight and look for the cable that runs up to the TFT. In that cable is an electronic unit and I've seen people have issues with it - pull the tape and check it for signs of damage. Otherwise it might be an earthing issue but the earth to the TFT appears to be stand alone to the main earth cable to the forks.
Sir can u please help me!
my ktm duke390 bs4 headlight used to turn on automatically and works well like 1 week and didn't light up again for like 1 or 2 weeks after sometime
and when it is put only in high beam
Headlight is normally fully automatic - main beam is a manual switch. If it is intermittent then it is likely a wiring issue so check the connectors and the wiring harness.
I got starting issue somehow and a guy said it's defenetly electrical problem and specifically could be grounding due to trying to start but no much luck. Could this be that I'll be removing the light and hope I find actual problem
Most common cause is a flat or dead battery - if the battery is over four years old, this is a likely issue. Depends also what you mean by a starting issue?
Hello i got a problem with my duke 390 2017 model....my throttle responses loss while riding and somtime when i start my bike throttle doesn't respond and when i trun my enigne on and off it works and after sometime it goes so i need to repeat same process can you give me some idea about that or if you can then make a video it will a great help to me
Your 2017 is ride by wire, so it is all electronic. The issue could be with the contacts in the handgrip or in the throttle body. If the problem goes away when the bike it restarted then it could also be software. You should check for error codes - you may need to use the dealer for this unless you know someone with a code reader to narrow down the issue.
My son bought a KTM Duke 125, and we are having an issue with the speedo. Every few seconds when riding the speedo goes down to 0, and stay there for a sec or two, then return to the current speed. And it keeps doing this at random all the time.
Any ideas on how to narrow down the issue and fix this?
Sounds like a signal issue. There could be damage to the sensor or the wire - it uses the ABS sensor on the front wheel so check it for damage and check the cable has no damage.
Hi my 390 is in the garage, since long time , oil pressure low indications were coming , change the sensor couple times, last time bike got dead like couldn't be start while I was riding and it was showing ABS failure and the thermometer was full blinking red , now after taking to garage they are able to make the bike start again, but now there's anoise coming in bike , the garage was saying need to open up the engine. Any suggestions from you
Did anyone test the oil pressure? The risk with changing out the sensor is that the sensor can be good and the oil pressure really is low resulting in engine damage. However, ABS and temperature are entirely unrelated so that could be a wiring fault. I'm assuming no coolant was found in the oil.
@@MotoMirius thanks the bike was locked so the mechanic opened the right side dynamo and did something, bike can start but the engine has a tyaktyaktyak sound , the mechanic is sure that crankshaft needs to be changed, also there was some shiny material in the oil , probable corrosion in crank shaft
Can you fit the new shape headlights on a 2012 125 duke ?
It can be possible - there is a module for sale in India, but the new shape headlight is a reactive unit where different parts turn on depending on light levels and your Duke does not have the software to do it, so the module just does low and high beam. I've never found a link to buy the module but I've seen it fitted in Indian videos of the conversion.
@@MotoMirius thank you 😊 🙏
Interesting theory about soldering wire?
Not really a theory - there are plenty of videos out there by professional auto electricians - I recommend those from people who've worked in the trade for long enough to see the long term results of their and others work. Check the wiring loom on your bike - what is soldered and what is crimped by the manufacturer?
@@MotoMirius I just now read some things. Looks like automotive guys agree with you. Electrical guys say if the solder is done correctly they are the same. Me? I think my solder joint done correctly, clean the flux off with alcohol, cover with an adhesive lined shrink tube, it would be better than a crimp connection. You have great videos and are very smart. I’m not trying to make trouble. Maybe just my connections are better?
@@RobertsIslandLivingAdventures If it works for you, then that's fine. It's why I said in the video I will not argue, and do what you want.
As you say electrical guys who work with fixed installations are good to solder - this works with my comments about it being OK in cabins. But automotive people and vehicle manufacturers crimp - because in the end experience with hundreds and thousands of real life examples will outscore theory every time.
Does anyone know what the "FUEL LEV S FAILURE" warning message on dash means on ktm duke?
I've not seen that one. Sounds like a failure with the fuel level sender/ wiring.
Same thing for a 790? Washed my bike a month ago now and the Headlight Failure popped up...Havent had the time or money to take it to dealer...
It's possible yes, common for any bike because this is almost the only place where the wiring is constantly being flexed.
Hey i asked if the diameter of the ktm duke 125 2021 is the same af 2020 and you said yes but my New exhaust doesn't fit...... can you say the real diameter
Which diameter did you ask about - I get a lot of questions. The presilencer and slip on are the parts for both 125 and 390 on the 2017 to 2020/1. But fitting exhausts is always a little fiddly, so you will need to be a bit more specific about your question.
Great video again. I need help off anyone,I have a duke 390 2018 model, my bike sometimes just dies as I'm riding along, usually at higher rpms, like just dies, I have to pull clutch in quick and then restart it. 😕 Any ideas would help ,I'm scared to ride the thing ATM. The bike is mint it's so frustrating
Lots of possible causes. Could be fuel related, check the fuel filter and see if it needs changing.
@@MotoMirius ok thanks so much I will replace and go from there 👌😁
Hiya put a new number plate light on my 125 and all the lights on my bike stopped working its coming up on the screen hlu failure can you help
If this happened after you fitted the number plate light then it is likely a fault with the light or the wiring connections - maybe you have blown a fuse?
My 2017 duke 390 drove threw a suprise flash flood. Whent from being dry to a foot+ of water within like not even 5 min. All stock. Worn out stock tires. Kept me up n engine never seized. over 10 min. I was soaked. Bike still works fin tho😂
Thanks for sharing all fixed. But there is a lot more to this than just the earth wire. I used to get problems when it rained. The from indicators would blink dimly even when off. I would also stall more when it rained. This is because the sheaf on several wires is broken exposing the inner copper conductors. So when it rains it has been causing a short. I also don’t think the conductor is too short I just think it has snapped to the constant action of the steering movement has caused this issue. I would remove the hard plastic sheathing and would replace it with think water proof tape.
Good catch on your wiring. Perhaps your loom was made a little longer than mine, movement of the steering will eventually stress crack the wires but this should take twenty years or more and I have bikes over thirty years old where this has not yet happened (I have a car nearly seventy years old where it has not happened) - being too tight and then bending will create stress fractures because the wire is held in one place and the bending happens at that point.
I've just had this error message come up. I turned the bike off and couldn't get it to start again. I was lucky somebody driver passed stopped and give me a jump start. Then this message come up. The battery isn't holding change would this be down to the wiring?
Two obvious possibilities are that the battery isn't charging - a fault in the wiring or regulator rectifier, or most likely an old battery that needs replacing - if it's say five or more years old then this is the likely issue.
@MotoMirius I'm terrible with anything Electrical so il get a new battery and fingers crossed that's the issue thanks for the reply
Hello sir, I get this HLU error all the time and DRL's are not switching off even when the key is removed which ultimately draining the battery. Service center techinicians changed the the battery saying its already 4 years old and out of its life but i still suspect becoz of the DRL it got drained, might have been still worked for one more year for sure as there was no voltage drop earlier. Later after installing the new battery, i have observed there's DRL issue (Continously ON even when there's no key after a bike halt).Headlight works properly when the engine is ON ,no issue whatsoever . Is there any way to get this issue resolved ???? As changing the headlight is expensive. Thank you!!
I would agree with you that you should still have had some life in the battery but a fault could have killed it early. I doubt the issue is in the headlight. DRL should be off when the key is off - so where is the power coming from? Obvious causes are the key switch or more likely the cabling to the DRL - if there is a short in the power feed to the DRL against a continuous live power cable then it could cause this issue. Unfortunately with electrics and electronics it is a matter of taking one cable at a time and being very methodical. Good luck with this!
I know this is off-topic, but I just noticed the cadence of your speech is governed by your hand and body movements when doing a piece to camera!
Ha! I guess that is true, I do tend to talk with my hands to some degree when explaining.
It’s strange what others notice about each of us. A beautician told me I talk with my right eyebrow, lol! MM has helped me find my way around my 390Duke, and fit a FuelX unit, which has made a magical difference to riding. Thank you!
@@dubs7152 Yes, I fitted a RapidBike unit to my wife's Duke; who by the way usually frowns when she talks at me!
how about abs failure problem? did u ever had any experience abt it? cant find any solutions on youtube tho...
Depends on the issue. Most common cause of failure is the sensors not the ABS unit - you would really need to read the codes to see what the error is.
How to remove duke 390 2017 rear seat without key??????
At least one side pod bolts removed from the side, rear light out and then you can reach the cable.
That TFT dash is made in China for US$25.00 a piece. Go take one apart. I did. Absolute rubbish.
The problem is the US$25, it has nothing to do with China. You wouldn't even be able to make the case in the US for $25 never mind the electronics. The same reason the Japanese manufacturers also buy Chinese components for their entry level cheap bikes.
