This is honestly one of my favorite sonic tracks just cuz how different it feels compared to literally every other one, it’s really unique and it stands out to me and it’s really “mysterious” sounding, even a tiny bit “spooky”
Yeah. One of the great things about the Sega cd add on was in combination with the CD drive there was more memory for pcm tracks, basicly meaning the FM instruments could be way more complex.
@@insertcoolnamehere937 The melodies of the "past" were composed with the Ricoh RF5C164 chip that was included in the Sega CD. In this case, the Genesis chip (YM2612) was used only for SFX.
Sonic CD had to use the Yamaha YM2612 and the Texas Instrument SN76489 soundchips more for the music with the Ricoh RF5C164. Some sounds would sound way better with a synthesizer.
The fact that sega decided to add a sample based sound chip to the mega cd like the snes (even if the mega cd one is clearly more powerful ) show that they wanted to evolve , sadly people werent interested enough for them to add a solid library of game for it ...

@@platinumthumbs7778 Present and future tracks are mixed exactly like modern music, you can decontruct them with hi-tech expensive software and hardware. Past music is the same for all regions because it would require programming the songs from scratch, which takes a long time, also they were too lazy.
Present and Both Futures are different from Past, Past uses the Sega/Mega CD's sound chip to make this song, Present and Both Future's are music burned into the CD and played in CD Quality, not sure if the Past is HQ or not.
Okay, ima say it, Labyrinth may or may not be better then Tidal Tempest. Music wise yeah Tidal Tempest blows but all zones in Sonic CD have at least one or two good songs.

This song has a prehistoric feeling to it like it took place during the times of ancient seas.
Anytime someone brings up dinosaurs or even way before the dinosaurs, I always think of this song.

Parts of this remind me of a Crash Bandicoot song, which I’d never noticed until listening to it like this.
