If the elk attacks it would have to be put down see I have a problem with ppl thinking we own this planet if the person touched the elk and gets hurt that's on them don't put it down for something it did not intend on doing
Elks just being an elk, people need to treat wild animals with the space and respect they deserve; it’s not the elks fault if somebody is stupid enough to run at him or get too close since they’re hardwired to either run or charge when threatened. Not to be edgy; but he’d be doing us a favor of helping our gene pool.
This point is very dumb as most people don’t know the dangers of petting wild animals even if they are trying to be friendly so your point is very irrelevant
@@Explodinqqfrr The point you're attempting to make is beyond dumb and people should either be educated or educate themselves about this since it's not that hard to learn.
I mean.. Yeah Feed a Wild animal and it would be dependent on that Certain person who fed it, As Animals would only trust the one person who feeds it.. So Whoever fed that Elk, That Elk is looking for that Person who fed it.. as it's the only person it could trust, (And allow him to Pet it) And that woman proves that she wasn't the one who fed it.. as the Elk backed away from her petting it.. Feed a Lion, and the Lion would become dependent on you and Only you.. Feed a Dog and the Dog would be dependent on you.. And also become your best friend..
That’s why theirs a law saying you can’t feed them somebody must of fed it making it more comfortable around humans also a humans life is more valuable
You know how geese and ducks can get aggressive when kids don't throw bread quick enough a the park? Picture a moose or an elk that begins to behave that way because it's no longer afraid of people... bad news. People should stop thinking all animals that don't run away from you are pets, we aren't in a giant Disney movie!
There's a video of some idiot trying to film a huge bull elk at 15 feet with no barrier. It's looking straight at him with its head down and huffing and dude hasn't gotten a clue yet. I wish I could still find it but I do know that clip was nominated for a bona fide Darwin Award. As they say you can't fix stupid.
Hope they fined her. Many tourist are so stupid! We were there two years ago wih a group of about 47. None of our group were so stupid to approach the elk.
There is a great video of a wildlife encounter between a bear sow and a bull elk. The elk is modestly injured and the bear has two cubs which are only about 30-40 pounds a piece. The mother bear clearly was moving into the region of desperation food-wise and decided to take on the elk. The elk was just standing in a small river that was no more than a foot deep but probably about 20 feet wide and very rocky. They got to battling and it lasted for the better part of an hour not moving very far from the spot they first met. The bear finally killed the elk but there were several instances where the elk literally lifted the bear off the ground as it was nestled right in the elk's rack. The elk tossed the bear on two or three occasions before the bear simply wore out the elk. Seeing this elk so close to idiotic people and the people not realizing that a casual twist of the elk's neck could result in several punctures through a person's body, make me just shake my head. It shows remarkable restraint on the part of the elk given people don't have the thick, tough hide bears do...
Yeah absolutely foolish shows how detached most people are to the dangers and brutality of nature those racks are serious business and these guys are usually quick to use them prey animals spook easy and you don't want to agitate one of these guys.
I remember that video…. I feel like it was a wolf video that I saw it on…… but yeah, snow all over, creek about 100’ wide, 3-4’ deep. Great video. Yeah, that elk fought to the end. That bear was desperate.
This might sound odd to some people, but even though it's obviously bad to pet and feed a wild Elk it's the fact that people WANT to instinctively pet and feed the Elk that makes humans beautiful in a way. Human beings are very complex creatures, but seeing that peoples initial reaction is to want to socialize and befriend a member of a species that's very different from themselves, and also completely non-domesticated, does make me smile.
The elk have thousands of square miles of wilderness available to them and they have to hang out in front of the market. They should be run off from this area. I live in Jackson Hole and we have the same problem. It's all fun and games until some tourist gets hurt.
I watched a very large lady in Jasper many yeas back start to get in between 5 cow elk and the bull running with them. I warned her not to do that, the response was, there're tame. The bull let out a screaming bubble, dropped the horns and chased. Never saw a fat gal run as fast as she.
I've had Estes park elk walk past me close enough to touch. The city makes no effort to keep them out of town or control their numbers, and that's fine, but what do you expect?
Why put the elk down!! Just for him hanging out in a small neighborhood. Thats fucking stupid. We don't own this planet first, animals were here first!!! Ppl man!! That's friecken stupid, no reason to put down a beautiful animal.
If you consider yourself at the very low end of the food chain, then go dive into a great white's jaws! That will surely keep it well fed for at least a couple of days.
In western Oregon this season an archery hunter put an arrow in a large bull elk at dusk .he lost the trail in the dark .in the morning he tracked it and found it still alive .the elk charged him and he could not get a shot off .it gored him to death ! the inmates at the jail ate well afterword !

We are in an aggressive Disney movie
Well you can't fix stupid
The world is filled with Disney *G R O O M E R S* though.
Glad to see she turned around when she did. Kinda felt the 'ol boy was just starting to loose his patience. Could have gotten ugly in a hurry....
lose not loose
@@royedwards51 No, his patience was getting loose from it's moorings : )
Jesus some people just begging to get gored.
Ikr its great.
Well, then, DONT PUT IT DOWN!
Harambe flashbacks
Keep in mind the antlers on a Bull Elk are seasonal weapons.
I wasn't expecting that from the title and thumbnail. I mean, I like befriending moments with wildlife but clearly that's not what's happening here.

“It is exactly inappropriate to feed or pet them..” BOY YOU NEVER SAID IT WAS YOURS.
Dont touch or feed wildlife
Naw
I was in Estes park probably 6 or 7 years ago. We had to stop the car in the middle of town for a herd to pass through. Crazy place.

True until someone gets killed or eaten by the wildlife. Look up Timothy Treadwell.
I agree, the store owners definitely LOVES having the strangely friendly feral/wild elk living outside his shop. Kinda like wild birds on your balcony
The forbidden Antler Doggo

Has she landed the Darwin award yet?
She's got a kind heart, but its not a petting Zoo for crying out loud!
This animal can keep a pretty big Grizzly at bay with thost spike. It would toss her salad something fierce.
And people wonder why they get hurt or worse. That is Darwin's theory / natural selection

dont look most animals foraging in the eye or walk straight at them. unless it a shark do a detour
How about relocating this boy....
Ha ha you guys don't love animals
Ha! You crazy!
Just like people like their personal space from people they don’t know elk like their personal space from people they don’t know.

Mother Natures Creatures are more than willing to deliver Darwin Awards . . .
:3
👑
That's illegal hoped-for they fined her $$$$$$$$$.
Touching wildlife is a good way to get mange or ringworm or worse.
Um no
I agree
Should put up a sign, don't feed the elk
Shouldn't have to put up a sign for people to have common sense.
They'll feed them anyway.
Darwin Awards waiting to happen
🤣
