  • A photo slide show showing the start to finish restoration of my 1995 F-350 Dump Truck that I purchased with a blown head gasket. Used it for several years as is then in 2012 I did a full restoration. I use this truck for hauling wood and doing light dirt work projects, as well as plowing snow in the winter. It is a 4x4 with a 460 and automatic transmission.

    Love that body style! Beautiful job! I had a 91 with a port fuel injected 460 with 4:10.1 Limited slip diffs. May be the best truck I've had and I have had 21.

      I don't doubt it. Those OBS Fords were just proven work trucks that are still going as long as the bodies don't fall off :). Thanks for watching and sharing about your truck. I certainly did enjoy this truck a bunch and I thought it looked pretty good too. take care

    i have an 89 ford f-superduty 2wd , 460 efi zf5 with pto dump. bought it not driving needed a clutch for 2500. the guy had fixed up everything on it but gave up after he blew the clutch. brand new gas tank, brakes, tons of new lines and hoses, and little stuff already good to go. it needs a passenger side rocker panel and cab corners arent bad but might as well touch em up soon before they rot more. I installed a push button start on it, did the clutch, and a couple tiny things, and now at 4000$ i got a beast truck.

    I came across your channel from captain Kleemans. I just bought a 97 Ford F-Superduty flatbed. Its got a 460 with a 5speed. I converted it to a dump with a PTO pump just this past month and have been using the stew out of it! Where'd you get your rims from? I was looking to upgrade my 16s to larger ones so I can get heavier tires.
    Sharp looking truck!

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  4 роки тому

      Hey thanks for clicking over and checking out the channel. Sounds like an awesome project truck you've got and you'll likely be wondering how you ever got along without it. Those rims onine are just stock F-350 dually rims from the same time era. I put different center caps on with chrome lug nut caps and it made them look more like big truck tires. They are just 16" as well. Into they turned out good and looked great on there. (I spent a long time polishing them too). Good luck with your truck they are great to have around!

      Thanks! Those are actually just Ford factory F-350 dually wheels like you might have seen from 1992-1995. I just didn't use the Ford center caps which makes them look different than stock. I used lug nut caps on the front and back and bought some generic "Alcoa" center caps for the back and it gave them the look I was going for like a big truck. Thanks for watching!

    How much gravel did this truck haul. I currently have same truck was wondering before I go to quarry.

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  3 роки тому +3

      I could haul and dump 5 ton. 5 ton was all it wanted and I didn't do that on a daily basis, but that is what it was capable of doing. In this video, you can see the truck before it was painted with a load of river rock in the bed. That was slightly over 5 tons and probably one of the heaviest loads on it. Make sure your leaf springs are in good shape and not broken and hopefully the overloads are in good shape as well. I had all new spring hangers some replaced leaf springs. Thanks for watching!

      The red dump truck belongs to a close friend of mine. He bought it as a chassis cab and put the same dump bed on as I did. Both trucks are 4×4 with 460's. We cut a lot of wood together.

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  3 роки тому +1

      Boy, I can't remember what it all cost. I bought new front fenders and rebuilt the cab corners myself. I bet I had $1500 in all the different materials for body and paint I'm guessing. I did it all myself including the paint job. It was a lot of work and I said I wouldn't ever do it again! If you watch my more recent dump truck video where I show the F-750 and F-350 there is a clip in there right after I got done painting it. Thanks for checking it out!

    How much money will cost me to do that

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  3 роки тому +2

      The new bed was the most expensive part and since I already had the hoist, it cost me about $3000. I had around $5500 total in restoring this truck but I did all the work myself. If you had to pay to have a truck in this original condition restored to this condition it would undoubtedly cost more than the truck is worth. Probably $10,000+ if I had to guess.

  • @MeltingRubberZ28

    Was the frame simply painted? Looked almost like powder coating but you didn't strip it so I'm assuming that's a no? I have an 85 dump that I'd like to turn around like this one so that's something I'm interested in doing

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  3 роки тому +1

      The frame was sandblasted, epoxy primed and then painted. I painted the frame at the same time I painted the body. It held up really good for the 6 years I drove it after the restoration. I sold the truck last year and it still looked really good. Good luck with your build! I never ever not once regretted having a good looking, fully restored truck to drive.

    • @digdrivediy
      @digdrivediy  8 років тому

      Not sure what the hitch is rated. I put a custom pintle hitch on the back and reinforced the heck out of the frame to make sure it would hold up to pulling the backhoe which is nearly 17,000 lbs. So far so good, but I don't pull that kinda load every day. I only pull the backhoe several times a year. This truck is still a good worker. Just used it last night to haul a bunch of concrete out.

      Thanks Travis. The rims are actually factory Ford Dually wheels that I got from a friend of mine. The look of them is different I suppose because I polished the heck out of them, and also most likely because I didn't use the Ford center caps. I used individual chrome lug nut caps and stand alone center caps on the rear wheels.
