That graph at 3:11 tells the whole story why Neumann captures that rounded low and low-mids better, and Shure sounding with more clarity and sparkle in the upper end with its 6 to 9k dominance.
I'm the process of picking a good condenser mic for my home studio, leaning toward a darker mic like WA's U87 clone -- I hear you get better sounding results when brightening up a darker source in post than to bring up the lows on a brighter source.
