You do realize that there is an equation for displacement. We used it all the time to figure out how much ballast is needed for submarines prior to going out to sea.
That's right!...air to water displacement for ballast, their idea is interesting, but they didn't do their homework or think it out 1st!...doomed to fail when you don't make a plan with the right information!

Great video brothers. Just a thought, maybe put in a bottom tank under the floor with a valve to let in water and with that same valve you could be able to drain it before you leave. That way your not traveling with so much weight on such a small trailer. Y’all had mentioned that you added about eight thousand pounds of concrete. Looking at the water levels on the side of the sub you would had to put about eight thousand more pounds of sand bags. If you had a way to control the water intake you could control your depth of submersion and also if you add a water pump,you could come back to the top and have the kayaks where they would go down as the sub comes up.Just a couple of idea. I really enjoy trouble shooting projects,not trying over step my bounds by telling you how to do it it’s just a couple ideas you guys do a great job and been a fan for years. Use ballast tanks for a better submerging system. It’s basically a system where you have tanks on the side that allow water in and out. If you fill the tanks up it will sink. If you let the water out it will float. You can also put a certain amount of water in so it stays a certain depth underwater. Real submarines use this system. Cool video btw

This is why anything meant to keep water out should either not have windows, or be fully submerged with a positive pressure interior atmosphere. Then the windows would've leaked bubbles but not admitted water to the interior. Source: Me, I build underwater habitats on my channel. You might consider making version 2 of this idea as a stationary positive pressure habitat, using the same container but two of them, with one serving as a ballast pod you shovel sand from the bottom into. This plan does require scuba gear however.

When no one realizes that a sub marine is aptly named a sub... Marine. Under... Water. Where as their boat stays above, and does no get submurged but partially submurged. A partially submerged boat is not a. Submarine.
Just a thought., you could put weights on the outside bottom of the sub. If something goes wrong and you start sinking too much you can release the weights and pop up to the surface. Ballast tanks would be great but may be to complicated, cost too much to do. Also you may want to minimize openings which can leak. Use cameras instead to see outside. You need some way to steer it. Love the idea of turning the water tank into a sub.

Because it wasn't a submarine. Submarines submerge, they go fully underwater. Theirs doesn't.
Theirs floats. And their capsule sinks, but it's still floating above water. Therefor it is not a submarine which is why it worked better

This is why anything meant to keep water out should either not have windows, or be fully submerged with a positive pressure interior atmosphere. Then the windows would've leaked bubbles but not admitted water to the interior. Source: Me, I build underwater habitats on my channel. You might consider making version 2 of this idea as a stationary positive pressure habitat, using the same container but two of them, with one serving as a ballast pod you shovel sand from the bottom into. This plan does require scuba gear however.

Just a thought., you could put weights on the outside bottom of the sub. If something goes wrong and you start sinking too much you can release the weights and pop up to the surface. Ballast tanks would be great but may be to complicated, cost too much to do. Also you may want to minimize openings which can leak. Use cameras instead to see outside. You need some way to steer it. Love the idea of turning the water tank into a sub.
