  • The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, song Patra, Saint Vitus cover
A short biography of The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble:
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble was formed in 2000 as a project to compose new music for existing silent movies. Jason Köhnen (a.k.a Bong-Ra) and Gideon Kiers (curator of the Sonic Acts Festival and member of Telcosystems), both graduates of the Utrecht School of Arts, combined their audio and visual skills to reinterpret classic movies by F.W. Murnau (Nosferatu) and F. Langs (Metropolis). In 2004 UK trombonist Hilary Jeffery and Swiss cellist Nina Hitz joined TKDE to record the self-titled debut album which was released on Planet Mu in May 2006. The ensuing tour saw Eelco Bosman and Paris based vocalist Charlotte Cegarra join, turning the Ensemble into a sextet. Chrome Hoof violinist Sarah Anderson joined in 2008 to supply the group with extra power on stage.
The Netherlands has been TKDEs homebase since 2007, while members have moved closer to each other to make composing and producing easier.
Apart from the mothership which is TKDE, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation is a live improv jazz/drone/doom sideproject consisting of TKDE members and a host of interchanging guest musicians. The live recording of the Doomjazz Future Corpses! session was released on Ad Noiseam in 2007.
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble's second full length album will be released on Ad Noiseam in 2009.

    "When they told me you
    were leaving
I began to feel sick inside
    Because I never,never
    got to tell you
    What I'm feeling inside
    my mind
    In my nightmares caused
I can see you run away
    In the daylight,I am hunting
Only to lose your last trace
    I still feel your
    presence always
And I've fallen over the line
I am hurting as I wonder
What it would be like if you
    were mine
    If you were mine
    If you were mine..."

      ... caused by anguish

@@markusjanjetovic-matz this song is the musical equivalent of feeling a physical pain in your chest/stomach because of anguish. Dark, brooding, and hella visceral. One of my faves from TKDE

@@fullofcrapiam my comment was meant as some kind of a correction because those words has been forgotten while typing the text of the song.
I already knew this song for a long time, because it was originally featured on the 1989/1990 album V by the doom metal band Saint Vitus:

A female vocalist changes the perspective of this cover.. And the jazz instruments gives it another dimension.

Long time Bong-Ra fan just finding out Jason went back to his old roots... What rock have I been living under??? Just purchased his 2019 tape release. Expecting heavy breaks, but this..... Woooooo god damn. Same day I find out he's in TKDE 🙏 what a day to be alive! Perfect tunes while locked inside.

I remember playing this song over and over again in January when I thought I would never see a certain person again. Thankfully I did though, but I still can't find the words and he still has no clue so here I find myself again hahaha. I'm a fool.

So moody and powerful! "Adaptation of the Koto Song" is pretty deep too. This is the first time I've encountered 'dark jazz'.

there are some musics like massive attack , radiohead ... which makes you embrace the song so hard that you dont care about environment and people around while listening , you can call it deep music i guess :D thats one of them , especially at night , alone with headphones :3

So amazingly dark I have to refrain from posting the number to the Suicide Prevention Hotline. This makes the band Morphine sound like pop music.

I'm not really sure. For some reason YT deprived me of my little bell icon. Evidently howling drunken threats and curses at the sky works because my bell was returned to me. Not long after, I checked out your impressive channel and subscribed to that, jangling little bell included. BTW any hope that whoever blocked 'Electronic Explorations' by the Kilimanjaro Doomjazz etc. will give it a rest ? While I may struggle with their name, I love the music and that album was my favorite of all.

I listened to some music while I was buying some shit in the supermarket. When an album finished it jumps to the next album in the line.
    I finished "A.S.Y.S. - Nightmare (Intro)"
