The Nuggets know they’ll get stronger as the game goes on, especially at home at altitude. There’s no panic or rush, they know the Lakers can’t keep their pace up for the full 60 and just need keep it close going into the half.
What’s scary is that’s it’s pretty clear that the Nuggets had this entire game under their control even when losing. They turned it up only as much as they needed to beat the Lakers. It looked casual.

I don’t know if it was a statement to say the least. This was a highly competitive game in all aspects. Yes the lakers guards are completely outmatched. But lebron proved that he could take over and still play at an extremely high level when it matters most. Ignore the turnovers. For the most part he played a decent game. Davis also made a statement that’s he’s gonna have a great series. Where they fell short was the role players falling short. But that is not like the lakers and expect that to be turned around quick. The nuggets in no way made a statement this is going to be a highly competitive series
