An original 'Real World SF' couple shares secrets from their season

- Judd Winick and Pam Ling met 25 years ago as they entered "The Real World San Francisco" house. Now, they are happily married and still living in SF. They joined ABC7 News in studio Monday, on the 25 year anniversary of the show.

@@therealwilfreddierkes9980 I just rewatched this season for the first time since the 90's and Puck makes the season. When he left it got boring.

It changed with Puck. He was the first person they had on who used the show as nothing more than a vehicle and made it clear from day one he was willing to run right over anyone who got between him and the camera. They kicked Puck off but not the type of castmember he was. It became a norm. Then they let Puck back on with the reunion and Battle of the Sexes even after the DV charges and the horrible things he said about Pedro, homophobic remarks then celebrating his death. MTV went downhill fast in the 00's.
The fact that these two lovely people decided to move to Miami to be close to their friend who was dying of AIDS is testimony to their amazing character and their great friendship. It is so moving.
The two are the type of friends you could only be blessed to have. They left that house and moved to be with their dying friend. I love them 😍
Pam has aged SO WELL! Judd looks great, too. I am thrilled this popped up on my recommended, I was such a huge Real World fan back in the day! I am also happy that Pam and Judd are still together.
We kinda KNEW he liked Pam,but she had a boyfriend .I REMEMBER the show where Judd was talking about continuing his comic strip,comics. He said something like : l'm still in San Francisco & the camera TURNED ON PAM. The audience WENT CRAZY,BECAUSE WE KNEW.💖💖,THEM.

@@nosirrahm Puck was a nasty person. I know I wouldn't want him delivering my messages (he was a bike messenger in an era before most had internet, now bike messengers are pretty much gone as we send e-mails and PDFs now instead).

I remember watching this season when I was 9 and thinking "I'm just like Pedro" and wishing for friends like Judd and Pam....
Pam is my doctor at UCSF. It was my first visit and when she walked in. I was completely shocked.
Pedro was such an asset to the Real World. His story was so moving. This was a GREAT cast.
This was my favorite season. I was about 14 yrs old. That's terrific they're still together!

It was a good season until Puck got booted out and Jo his replacement was very boring. And they seemed to focus on her. But still a great season, just a little slow the last few episodes.
My favorite season of RW!! 💕 This was when RW actually had cast members of character and substance. I thought Pam was the coolest (and still do)!!! So down to earth, funny, cute, and intelligent! I would have loved to have her as a mentor!
Pedro would be alive today because of all the progress and treatment on HIV/AIDS. So sad because he wanted to be a doctor.
He already had full blown AIDS during the show.
I think of this a lot! My mom is a study coordinator emphasizing in HIV/AIDS, and the amount of progress with medication and treatments that have been made is mind blowing. I wish we had that back in the 90s, but thanks to Pedro’s activism and efforts he is one of the many reasons/entities that pushed forward AIDS/HIV research
Pedro brought awareness no news broadcast ever could.
@@flip1sba my friend was dying of full blown AIDS at that time but the AIDS drugs were approved right then and she did a complete turnaround and is still alive today at 51

If Pedro have lives to this generation, his condition would be better.
It is adorable seeing this kind newscaster be genuinely so happy to interview them and be as nostalgic as many of us viewers. It was a special time to be young in one way before the shallowness of social media, but now we know also important for diversity and LGBTQ+ support. Great show and inspiring couple. I remember the chemistry between them and glad they are together and happy, both high quality people.

Pedro deeply impacted my understanding of so many things when I was a kid watching that show. What a special human he was.
Forgot how ahead of its time that show was. Now its just IG models/influencers getting drunk.

The Absolute best season of RW! Season three! Adore you both so very much. Loved how much you loved Pedro, and back then didn’t realize how young you guys were, and how beautiful and maturely you handled it.
I fell in love with both of you after finding out you fell in love, are still together, and still remember and honor Pedro.

This season started right when I was becoming English fluent, and Pam is the first Asian woman I ever ever saw on TV - amazing season! And Pedro, what a sweetheart, what a kind heart.
I saw Judd's wife Pam in San Francisco, she was working at SFGH. I recognized her face but couldn't quite place it. So, I asked her, where do I know you from? She told me, I had an "A-Ha" moment, and she was very nice. In many ways that season of The Real World ushered in "reality television" for better or worse
She hasn't aged a day in 25 years.

Pam and Judd are awesome. As a gay teenager I was drawn to Pedro and watching his battle with Aids. I cried so much when he died. It hit really hard and touched me so much that he choose his last days to bring awareness to the disease.

Pam literally looks the same as she did in 1994. Judd was the most laid back cast member by far. Very sad when Pedro died, felt like I knew him.
This was a groundbreaking show at the time. My heart broke when Pedro Zamora died. This show was the epitome of a time when reality television was used as a political platform. Now, these reality shows are simply trash.
This was when reality tv was about real, interesting people. I'll always remember Pedro.

Love everything about this video. So happy they're still together. That particular season was great in many ways. It's neat seeing how Pedro affected the anchor, which goes to show there's no telling just how many people's lives he touched.
I could tell he was in love with Pam - that look on his face during her birthday episode said it all. I know she had a boyfriend for like 8 years at the time but it was so obvious and it would have been sad if they didnt end up together. So its good to see them together. In fact, she watched that episode and caught his face too lol and I think thats when she realized - I remember her saying that somewhere.
Yeah, I saw them a couple years before at SF Italian restaurant celebrating his birthday. It was my birthday too.😊

Any reminders of the original Real worlds I grew up with, is always a treasure to cherish ❤️ The world has never been the same. I'm always filled with joy to see couples that had families & created a life together from their experience doing the documentary style show, which at the time is what it was. I love seeing Rachel & Sean and their beautiful children. So these two familiar faces showed up in my feed and I thought they look fantastic and exude health, happiness, peace & love. I'm grateful for what all the cast members ever gave us from those years, making themselves vulnerable to public judgement and exposure, isn't an easy position but for good or bad, we learned through their walk of life and they provided an easy going sense of entertainment on a more relatable platform than Hollywood elitism at the time. Those earlier seasons where the cast were fairly down to earth. Obviously Pam & Judd were meant to be and it's truly sweet to see them and they look wonderful!! Definitely time & age have served them well. I read that they adopted children? Nothing but really happy memories from that era of the 90's and I'll always associate them with that. There's was not my personal favorite season, but these two are such good hearted human beings, very compassionate and God Bless them with abundant prosperity, good health, tranquility, joy & love🌷💮🌷

This was four years ago but found this today. Oh the joy. And the power of tv! So happy to see your sweet faces again after so long. Glad you both thrive. RIP to Pedro, forever a loving angel.

Wow it's been 27 yrs now i remember watching this show from day 1 i was 19 at time this show changed so many ppl lives around the world Pedro was a bright light so strong brave i remember Praying every single day that he would get better live long happy life and ppl around the world and still to this day i cry i wish we had the medical treatment we have now we Love U Pedro and we miss u so much Thank You all from my Heart R.I.P

Always loved Judd and Pam....they were soo grown up on the season even at their younger ages back then...they were people to emulate their maturity....someone to mentor....glad to see they're still together and still very happy.

I loved the first four casts of The Real World. (N.Y., Venice Beach, San Francisco, London) After that, the show started to go downhill when they cast mean and catty people. 😒

As a young gay Latino SF native kid watching Pedro on this show was so eye opening at the time. It still breaks my heart whenever I think of Pedro 🙏🏼💔 God rest his soul 🙏🏼

I always loved her back when they did yhe show. They were always very likable from what i remember. R.I.P Pedro Zamora. I do remmember his story. Was so sad when he passed. It's really sad to see what happened to reality shows after those first couple seasons. It went from interesting, normal, and people-driven, to an exploding dumpster fire so quickly.
I think the downhill slide started with Hawaii. I still liked Hawaii through Chicago but the first Las Vegas season ruined the whole series because you didn't really see anyone with class afterwards.
It was all about hookups and getting drunk.

i was on the j train one time ( im a severe asthmatic ) then i seen a group of doctors on the train i was staring at them wondering dam i wonder which one of them is a lung doctor and can help me out . should i ask them for help ? then i realized i was staring at Pam lol ..
