  • I have decided to make a wee series. Why? Just something to do I guess!
I am going to resurrect a car from the dead, get it in reasonable running condition, tune it and see what happens from there really.
So here I have got hold of a Seat Leon 2.0 Tdi with 140bhp BKD engine.
I received it as a non runner and was told that the cambelt has snapped, the driver kept cranking it for ages so definitely bent valves and more than likely cylinder head damage!
Oh i was also told there is a mouse/mice living in the car!
In this episode I will get him into the workshop and see if it can be fixed on a reasonable budget.
I have also decided to name him Samuel Leon Jackson
I would like to say thank you to anyone who watches my videos and sincerely hope they help you in some way.
Obviously if you don't want to take on this job yourself your friendly Diagnostic Specialist guy (that's me) is more than willing :)

Seems like a common issue happened to my touran today after changing the timing belt a month ago. Must have stripped the thread when I torqued the tensioner nut. What size helicoil did you use?

Great video, ive had the same happen to my 06 audi a3 BKD engine, have had the threads repaired, got a pro out for that job, put new belt kit on and runs ok, but when driving it there is a slight unusual noise from the engine, then when off the throttle decelerating it sounds, to me at least, like air escaping somewhere, im thinking i have bent valves and so they are not sealing, though the car does drive ok and has good power (was remapped),
i have of course parked it up till i get to the bottom of it, the noise it makes is hard to describe and not very loud, but it wasnt there before the tensioner stud failed,
can you advise on the best action to take next? cheapest options first of course! cant give up on the car, spent too much already, had new clutch DMF and brakes 500 miles before this happened lol

What torsion values did you set it on? Also did you move the exhaust side also? If so, what injection quantity? Thanks!

Hi, i have the same problem with my bkd tensioner stud. Is the helicoil solution a good and trustable option? Or the m8 to m10 better option? Please let me know
