Great vid Mrs. Wizard! Thanks for sharing your automotive art with us. I really enjoyed that portion of the clip and congrats on getting that beautiful Boxster S. You look so happy behind the wheel and when you're talking about. I hope it brings you many miles of happiness.
I love how the key/key fob is red like the calipers. 😊 And porche using same cup holders as Mercedes where drink condensation rolled down into the radio face and shorts out the wiring of the radio! Not a very smart design The air dam window actually makes it very easy to hear and not bad wind noise at ALL!
There is some rather nice vent grills one can buy, or make oneself to stop debree from going in the front and clutter up the coolers, I got one made by Zunsport from the UK for my boxster S 986 from -02 I have to say I am quite jealous of the interior color matching to exterior your car is optioned with, I want to do that to mine to refresh the fading interior that is starting to look somewhat scratched up and dull. But it's an ongoing project
-You know, I think I have mentioned on David's channel that I drove an '85 Porsche 928S2 5 speed for 19 years. I bought it as soon as I was able to, as a young airline pilot not making much money. I knew I could work on it myself and I had another car anyway. It was not my spouse, but it was my best friend for all those years, and listen: There is enough of my blood from my knuckles soaked into the metal of that car for it to essentially be a relative! That thing was my baby. Around Halloween of 2018 I realized I wasn't getting any younger at the age of 52 and it was smart to try other things before I got too old to enjoy them, so I traded this 33 year old car (hello~!) at the Porsche dealership in Fort Lauderdale where I live for a '14 Cayman s and while this car was amazing, it still just...Isn't that 928. Here's where this is going: I have several parts of that car still taking up space in the garage and attic, including the original cracked instrument pod. What kind of memorial could you make for me using this pod? I was thinking some sort of clock....
Jenny, thoroughly enjoyed your showing off the new toy. One suggestion.......your channel is called Mrs. Wizard's Ways.......would sound better to call it just that at your introduction instead of Mrs. Wizard's Way.
-Folks, if you buy one of these cars with the M96 engine (Boxster/Cayman/non-turbo 911 from 1998 to 2008) and you replace the IMS bearing in the engine, you will have a very reliable car that is fun to drive, is frugal (31 mpg), is reasonably fast, handles GREAT and makes you look good for not a whole lot of money. The IMS bearing change out will cost you between $4000 and $6000, depending on what other things you will have repaired/replaced WYAIT, but generally the money is well spent. I would recommend LN Engineering parts, but there are others and I have no affiliation. These cars are VERY good quality. Yes they have their quirks, but really, the only car that can compete with this series of cars for this price and performance is maybe a Mustang GT. And that is a completely different ride that checks different boxes. Great video! (PS: One could ALSO look at an '80's Porsche 928S4 and have a similar experience....)
@@hokie9910 No it isn't. The only thing you have to think about is the timing belt. Change it and the waterpump out every 45k miles and you are good to go. The only problems you will have with a 928 are things like window lifts, the sunroof, hatch motor, et cetera. The newest 928 is just about 30 years old now, so those sorts of things are going to come up. They aren't hard to work on and parts from 928 International in California are very reasonable.
@@Flies2FLL Well, I’d go out and play the lottery as you are literally the first person I’ve ever heard these words said about the 928. Glad you had a good experience.
Recommendation: You are not going to be taking this on trips. You are going to and from your house in in Newton; Why do you need a spare tire in the frunk? This just adds weight and reduces space. Remove it and enjoy more space for groceries, if you have a problem call AAA or have Dave send a flatbed to bring it to his shop. You will easily remove 50 pounds from the nose of that vehicle, saving fuel and increasing performance.
On a low mileage Boxster, you should not gamble on IMS bearing failure. You are not going to be flipping this car. You are going to drive this car, but you probably won't put over 6000 miles on it in a year. The Car Wizard just needs to bite the bullet and upgrade that IMS bearing.
Had a Boxter. Was super fun and nimble but SLOW. Once I tried the Model 3 Performance I was hooked. Same “cart sticky to the road” feeling (due to low center of gravity and great steering) and SO FAST! Faster than the Corvette or Boxter I owned before. Hack, it’s faster than 99.9% of Porsche 911s on the road 😂
On a track, you just drive it like a Miata: Foot to the floor all the time. You'll pass a lot of cars with WAY more power. If you know what you are doing....
@@IchibodDeereI drove the Model S many times and had the 3P for years. The cars are a world of a difference. I took the Boxter on track and many amazing twisty roads in California (mountain and coast) so know it very well. The Boxter is an amazing car but it lacks in power (internationally by Porsche) and lacks the torque at any speed the model 3P has. I bet the GT3 is nicer than the Boxter but after buying the M3P and driving many Porsches and Corvettes, there’s just no other car that compares at anything under $200,000 - especially at its own price point. It’s not just what I’m saying - it’s what race car drivers are saying - it’s the best bang for the buck - even at twice the price range. Probably more.
No one puts Mrs. Wizard in the corner!
What a beautiful car!
I love the yellow color 😊😍😁
Wow that cars a real show room condition from camera view and very very clean! What a find!
A near-perfect ride for you - absolutely fits!
I got a 2000 Boxster S in just that color. Love that thing! Got 90k miles on mine
I really enjoy this UA-cam channel!
I love that 1959 Cadillac. I just saw my all time favorite car.
Beautiful car, Jenny! Yes, much better around town than the Shelby Mustang. I'm looking forward to your new batch of Part Works!

Nice to see you back.
A great car. This car looks like the perfect car for you!
Congratulations! I own a 2002 S with the optional hard top. My daily & currently up to 150K miles, so you have a keeper. My favorite car of all time.
Great car! They are a blast to drive!
Thank you
A good choice. I always liked these.
I love your latest buy. This in my opinion is a much better choice than the 600HP Mustang
😎
If i may, a car enthusiast loves the style, speed, power.
If you ever have a track day, each car fills a need.

Oh lord, an 80s 928…that is a ticking time bomb in regards to maintenance

Beautiful car for a very beautiful lady
Yellow is a safer color and easy to see, that's the only thing I don't like about my black Ford Focus

Why don't you learn to weld and make a "Wizard" as an ornamental sign outside the shop? Of course, it would have to be concreted in.

It's faster than all Production Cars by every manufacturer, and Faster than 90% of super cars from 0-100..
Comparing a Model 3 to a Boxster means you never truly appreciated the Boxster. Sad. And I have a Model S and a GT3.

I’d rather not see it. Glorified VW…
